    Flaps

Maybe they do this in certain conditions. Low Speed and High AoA. As the AoA increases the wing will have an increased drag... lets call it value A. At a certain point the flow of air over the wing gets disrupted because of AoA (it doesn't flow over the wing normally but tends to leave the wing earlier). Now with the Slats deployed the air comes under them and it's forced/pushed against the top of the wing making it stick longer on the upper surface. Because of this the flow is less disturbed thus drag is less then A, aka reduced. It doesn't matter the A value is a high value. Simply with Slats out it gets diminished. With slats out at high speed and low AoA I gues the "hole" in the wing creates a disturbance that makes the air flow unregulated and thus creating drag bigger than the one of the clean wing... let's call it value B This might be why it looks counter intuitively that the slats reduce drag. They normally would increase drag but when going slow and with high AoA they behave in a different manner. edit I found this: min 8:30 and a good article that quotes same video http://www.boldmethod.com/learn-to-fly/aircraft-systems/heres-how-leading-edge-slats-get-you-off-the-ground/
  2. It is present only if you have Combined Arms module. I think you can create that folder manually, some functionality might be missing from your mod if it is dependent on Combined Arms. Otherwise... is just where normal ground units or objects go.
  3. It's the way I do it too. But if you have a complicated mod that you worked on some time and you worked directly on the game files it is a much simpler way by this "repair" way. The BackUp001 folder is directly your Mod. It really can take 1 minute to build this way a complicated mod as opposed to doing it manually (even from the beginning) that would be how you say... tedious. I think the problem here might be the necessity of OvGME to know the entire and final DCS World folder structure. It has to be noted that this changes sometimes from update to update sometimes even at big scale (see the Caucasus map). This knowledge might be beyond Sedenion interest as he went for the "user must know the directory tree" approach and OvGME work on folders it assumes already correctly structured and doesn't check at all. A second problem would be the necessity of introduction of folder creation like in an Window Explorer window for mods that expand beyond DCS World folder tree. Examples are skins and texture mods that superimpose on game archives by using folders with the archives names. At this point basically is the same tedious work someone has to do it no matter what. OvGME is an open source program. That is another great feature. Other talented programmers can add future functions to it.
  4. It's actually very simple using a trick. -Make your modification (not safe as you apparently do it but... to each is own I guess). -Make sure there are no other mods installed by OvGME (or JSGME but be sure not to use them both) -Do a repair -Pick your correctly structured modded files from "Back Up" folder If you have multiple "mods" there... say some sounds, some luas and some textures and you would like 3 mods, one for sounds, one for luas and one for textures, simple make 2 more copies of that backup folder and delete from each one what there is not necessary... example, from first folder delete the luas and the textures, from second the sounds and the textures and from last the sounds and the luas. Rename those folders to... for example: "sounds", "luas" and "textures" and then proceed to create the mods archives with OvGME
  5. I think all helicopters are controlled by smooth controls almost like "thinking of them to move" but once you let go of them they will try to kill you. And you can see in second movie that all augmentations are off. it's like in this clip only hands free: eXR1olg_I0w Notice how the instructor is saying to Destin to just think of moving the controls.
  6. The engine is started? I'm not sure if it matters but are you airborne?
  7. It's one way or the other. But checking that option will make easier to record even if you forget to alt+enter. Also the game becomes a bit unresponsive when At+Tab-ing after you force it true full screen with alt+enter so it might be an inconvenient for some.
  8. I want to tell you something about this perceived negativity. Imagine an experiment. You have a Game or game module... You have 3 guys that test this game or module 1. First guy is payed to test it 2. Second guy pays to test it 3. Third guy is neither payed nor he pays anything to test it Imagine they stumble on the same bug (just to keep the experiment simple) How do you think their emotions will be? Which one you think will be the coolest bug reporter? If you reach the same conclusion like me then why would you ask a paying customer to be cool as ice when reporting bugs and not expect them to be... a bit hot or acid and no get touchy about it in the first place? Also about the use of template. I am all for it as it really helps but don't push it beyond reasonable as not taking reports into account because they are not formatted. After all we all "love" to get in line for customer support an be "formatted" with eliminatory questions. After all if I call SFR and ask them about why my internet goes to drain when I turn on the TV I wouldn't like to be answered... "it's the tv box doing its magic... and by the way... your name makes me think you speak like Donald Duck... ha ha".
  9. But why not go electro-magnetic and avoid gears and belts all together? like these guys: https://www.researchgate.net/publication/265992616_Direct-Drive_Force-Feedback_Joystick http://engineeringmatters.com/EngineeringMattersBrochure_joystick_techspec.pdf
  10. it seems is not suppose to be that hard... https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=174696
  11. Also you can use Discord and SRS (Simple Radio Standalone).
  12. What if we don't animate anything at all? Ailerons, Rudders, Gears, etc? Because YOU YOU YOU YOU.
  13. It's the same as Shadow Play only they made the interface like Windows10/XBox and scattered the options differently go to privacy and check to record desktop capture and it will work.
  14. Hello. Very interesting discussion. I was thinking also about something similar but because I don't have resources to build one from scratch I was thinking to steampunk my G940 when I will replace it with a Warthog. What I was thinking was to replace the gimbals mechanism from that classic cardanic cross like to a (stabilized) ball joint and instead of motors and gears to use simple electromagnets driven (amplified if necessary) by same logic board. Also... how about we drop FFB (ForceFeedBack) from name and call it something like Bidirectional Active Controller. So no one would think at rumble anymore.
  15. Not much action these days. We got scattered all over the globe (Australia, Canada, UK, France) and is harder to play. Last ones we were in contact with was Savowolf and Dino from LeOs.K, few years ago all went silent. I guess most of them are grandpas now :D Good to see you OK!
  16. Disregard... I got again the message while trying to connect to 104th...
  17. LOL Flyby! How could you forget? You're OK, young, everything? hint d13th ;)
  18. Maybe later you could make those land positions be linked by hardlines to land towers (existing or place-able by mission or heli drops) LOS will improve and keeping those towers alive would be a resource in mission.
  19. The miz is kaput then. It happened to me too but I was able to reopen the file and re save it under a different name after I deleted all corrupted things (sounds too) and it worked.
  20. @Rlaxoxo Just as well I guess you could have posted it in the Ka-50 section because it says in the title that is about Mig21Bis. @BadHabit I have no problem with mods but I do have a scale of appreciating them just like you or anybody else. We can say a few critic opinions about modules and I think we are allowed to say some about some mods. For me such mod is as valuable as a graffiti with a "cool" name made with "cool" letters on Mona Lisa (I do appreciate though the album cover photo of ST - The Art of Rebellion). In fact I don't appreciate graffiti... sorry. I can only imagine how much work went into DCS Mig21Bis and probably Dolphin887 is full of warm emotions to see finally the AIM54 hanging on his Mig like trophies. Please note that I am not talking really seriously as this mod is not so serious. So no need to get red at the face.
  21. Why isn't this thread in the Mods section? It makes it look like something official when it is clearly not. Is just a GTA style mod. Nothing realistic. Nothing worthy to be taken into consideration by LNS as a suggestion for improvements. It may just as well add more wings and 7 engines.
  22. I used to get that error while trying to connect on Blue Flag more than a month ago but after a patch it all went away.
  23. Did you took off from right side of the runway or taxiways loaded with illegal load outs? You know... Lasers etc. Conflict areas are listed in the briefing and they are activated sequentially. You either wait for a message to tell you which one is active, or ask in chat, or fly from one to the other or you write a command in chat (I don't know it either :) ) True, better briefings for ground attackers are needed.
  24. A laser gun pod! Pointing backwards! That would be awesome!
  25. I just want o add one more think about spreading the BF tech. Time will tell if it would have been better that all people should start to wear Blue or is better that all remain dressed in GREY. If one year from now or two years from now we will have the same MP activity... I think it will be proven that half an eye is better than no eye. IMHO... I don't think there is any danger to the community if BF team would publish their experience in some form other than losing the "copy rights". Sure all BF team did was to use what is already available... but what would be easier for average Joe to do? Read all those resources or use some sort of concentrated manual and at the ready tools. I know some people will bash laziness here but at some point we need to be realistic and not optimistic. Everybody can reinvent a wheel... is not hard. Slip one time on a log... get angry on it and chop it in bits... see the bits rolling... call them wheels. Voila! But... is much easier and much more better for all to have someone describe the process sparing everyone from the "anger". One last example. Look at how much good skins are available for planes when a good and easy to use template exists. Sure... we can strive for excellence and expect highly skilled professionals that have exceptional PC to build great skins from bad/complicated/hard to use templates but is not how it works best. As a result some planes have 4 good skins and 200 rubbish when others are the other way around. Which variant is to be wished by a dev? One that makes their module penetrate more on the market or the other that holds it?
