Ah, makes sense. So the it's a decision based on not wanting to risk exhaust inhalation, and not any other technical limitation? Kinda wonder if it's like the Kh-25ML on the Ka-50; sure, one country doesn't want to do it to increase the lifespan of their airframes, but the company would happily allow if it that's what a customer wants. Kinda like how I imagine it went down when Pakistan went to Klimov and say "we need more POWER" and Klinov's response was "sure, if you don't mind shorter engine life."

Oh, sweet, Missed that. Haven't had a chance to fly in a couple weeks.
-
I imagine there's not enough clearance for safe ordinance separation on the dual rack. Dealing with engine surges in the middle of an aerial fight is also probably too silly to allow as well, but what about air to ground missiles like the C-701? i just find it strange that the C-802 is fine while the 701 isn't.

If the issue is smoke ingestion, I hope the affects can be modeled so we have to be careful in employment.

Oh, the missile actually has a TOO seeker mode? The lack of that feature made me think the LD-10 didn't have that option.

Could you elaborate? Someone stole the models you were working on?

Suggestion for a simple aircraft: J-5
Xeno426 replied to Aries144's topic in Deka Ironwork Simulations
None of those countries are Russia or China, both notable for being *very* protective of that information. The UK can be quite difficult as well, which is probably why we got the AV-8B N/A rather than the GR.7 or 9. The J-5 or J-5A would certainly be a great addition to the game. -
[MOOSE] RAT - Random Air Traffic
Xeno426 replied to funkyfranky's topic in Scripting Tips, Tricks & Issues
It seems that neutral units can only spawn or land on neutral airfields. One would have expected that they'd be able to use all of them, since blue and red can use neutral fields. Would be nice to let neutral aircraft land at any coalition, at least as an option. -
Ok, so here's how it works now. If you keep the system in AUTO mode, the laser will start firing several seconds before impact on its own. When the laser is actively designating, you will see "LSD" in the bottom left of the MFCD, along with a timer. If you have the system on MAN (manual), then the laser will not fire unless you hit the laser on/off button (something like Shift + O by default). When that button is hit, you will see "LSD" on the bottom left of the screen, sans timer. As long as "LSD" is on screen, you are lasing.

Hmm, makes it a shame 3rd party devs can't add new seeker head logic into the gae.
-
Does that mean this isn't a limit in the real weapon?
-
Laser marking? You mean laser spot search? Or do you mean designating with laser for other units to guide weapons with? That's precisely what this thread is about.
-
Yeah, what button, switch, or MFCD function does it equate to? I wonder if one of the existing HOTAS buttons isn't supposed to carry double duty on this, like the first trigger detent on the F/A-18C.
-
Must be. Before the patch that came with supercarriers, switching the pod from Auto to Man would auto fire the laser.
-
Didn't realize that was added.
-
"Laser on binding", what do you mean by that? Binding to what?
-
With the recent patch, I've been having trouble buddy lasing with the targeting pod. Normally, when I'm not launching any ordinance, I see the occasional "LSR" pop up in the bottom left of the MFD, just telling me the laser is on for ranging. Previous to the patch, when I switched from "Auto" to "Man", I would immediately get "LSD" on the bottom left of the MFD, indicating I was sparkling. But now, when I go to "Man", I don't get that LSD indication. Bombs that are dropped for me seem to track intermittently, like I'm sparkling less than half the time. It honestly seems like I'm only guiding in Man mode when that "LSR" is flashing. But when I drop in Auto mode, I will get the "LSD" notation on the bottom left telling me I'm sparkling, along with the impact timer. Does anyone else have this issue? Was there another step added after switching the laser to manual before the pod will sparkle?

[Collections] What you want to be able to bind in keyboard/device
Xeno426 replied to uboats's topic in JF-17 Thunder
Doesn't seem to want to cycle for me. Hitting "P" just moves the switch to "deploy" and stays there, no matter how many times I hit "P" again. In any case, that's useless to me, since I want to use a three-way switch to control it. This means I need a state function, ideally two entries; one for "Deploy, else off" and another for "Jettison, else off". -
[Collections] What you want to be able to bind in keyboard/device
Xeno426 replied to uboats's topic in JF-17 Thunder
Seconded on this. I want to bind these to my HOTAS, and was quite miffed that I can only bind the button to deploy the chute. I want to bind the deploy/jettison/middle position to one of my 3-way switches. -
That's also less likely to happen, since it's replacing my difficult solution with a far more difficult solution. Just give me bloody FAC. Because if BS3 only gives MAWS and the Igla-V, it's not going to be worth the price tag unless it's something like $8. This touches into concept of burden of proof. Basically, the one making the positive existent statement is burdened with proof that it exists. When there is no evidence forthcoming, that touches into the null hypothesis. Generally, when there is no evidence, then the default position will be "withhold judgement". However, for ED, withholding judgement would be not pursuing the concept, because doing otherwise would cost time and money.

Lots of wishes for FLIR and other things that didn't much show up on the Ka-50. I mean, I get it; I'd love to have those too, but how about a system that I feel has been sorely lacking: a functioning FAC for the Red side? I shouldn't have to install the Ka-50 JTAC mod to get air control assistance for finding targets. Maybe even include as an AI unit the Ka-29 modified to act as a Ka-50 spotter.
