Yep, and the Harrier, et al

I meant are you going to tell us what you’ve got planned next! :smilewink:

But cpu power hasn’t really changed in the last couple of years or so. It’s probably at a plateau until the next big hardware generation comes about. I have heard though that consumer pc hardware is about 7 years behind what is currently available to the big silicon industry/ military. So who knows what is possible now, never mind 30 years

So, about these future product launches. Can you expand?

Fighter Pilots BBC doumentary series

Nice one. I put that on watch list too. There also one called Jet Set GR4 OCU course that looks interesting. -
As above. I’d never heard of it before last weekend and came across it on YouTube. It was made in 1981 and follows the initial training from first interview of several applicants from the 1978 class at Henlow/ Linton. Think of it as a British precursor to Jetstream. It’s only 8 episodes of half an hour each, well worth binge watching it in an afternoon. I’d never seen it suggested on here before so thought I’d put it up. Enjoy. (But beware there are probably more moustaches than is absolutely necessary! - Don’t want you all having nightmares do we!)

Yep, I concur. I got mine a couple of days ago and it’s like night and day. A pleasant experience, good comms, easy to order, quick and excellent packaging. Even comes with an allen key! I’m looking to find some kind of rubber/ foam now to put in the square hole maybe from a camping mat or something else lying around to give the stick a little bit more rigidity as there is quite a bit of travel.

Real RAF Merlin collective project
mr_mojo97 replied to james111333's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Yeah, the wires are solid little buggers. It’s like a thick plastic gray wrap on top of very thin braid as you say. Good luck with it, and keep us updated. Think I may try the hall sensor in the pot-like housing as mentioned by Sokol. I needed something that was easy to move so it could go under my desk (flying Mirage, hornet and Harrier most of the time these days). -

For the wires, I took the back of the head off, exposing the switches etc, then pulled them all through. Much easier to work with I thought. -

I did the same with my Lynx collective. Hundreds of wires, most are redundant for what you’ll need and most you may well cut out cos they get in the way. I tried both pots and hall sensors, but could never get the halls to work reliably so settled on pots (it was never intended on being a pro job mind you). It was more a rack and pinion type drive I used with the pots which actually works really well. I also have a motorbike steering arm damper get give it a better feel to which is also attached to a steel plate and some magnets to prevent it slipping down. I’m sure you find a better solution. Molevitch on here made some excellent posts about his own project with a Mil-8 collective. It makes such a difference using it in the DCS though. -
Yeah, I added ‘Looking for fuel’ and ‘Need to tank’ but also use the standard ‘Approaching for fuel’. Did you try recording your voice saying ‘Intent to refuel’? Have a look under the Approaching for fuel drop down and see if Intent to refuel is there. It could be that it’s under one of Chief’s block sayings when on the ground, therefore it wouldn’t work. I know there was an issue with one of the refuelling phrases but can’t remember what it was. I prefer to use In position instead of Ready precontact as it doesn’t hear my voice correctly at all for that phrase.

How to set up toggle switches (a tutorial)

For some reason my canopy won’t work anymore. When I added the code last night it worked. Still can’t get the tail hook working either. Any idea, chaps? Wish I understood lua code! Lol -
Yep, I’ve got the new version of Vaicom pro. Comms with tanker at least work as intended. Not tried ATC yet.

How to set up toggle switches (a tutorial)

Sorted, mate, thanks. (I'd accidentally deleted "})" at the end. I've managed to get the Landing gear sorted and the canopy as well but having an issue with the Tailhook (for the F/A-18c). This is the code I made up: I wasn't sure how to handle the values so I just made them up. { down = gear_commands.HookHandle_EXT, up= gear_commands.HookHandle_EXT, cockpit_device_id = devices.GEAR_INTERFACE, value_down = 1.0, value_up = -1.0, name = _('Arresting Hook Handle - Cycle'), category = {_('Right Vertical Panel')}}, -
Yeah, easy. There is a black plastic screw behind each one. A couple of turns each and they come off. Although they are very good quality so not sure why you’d want to.

How to set up toggle switches (a tutorial)
mr_mojo97 replied to Spy Guy's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Hi, I'm a bit of a beginner at this and am looking for some help. So I'm trying to use the Eng Flow L switch on my Warthog for the Landing gear and the Eng Flow R switch for my arrestor hook. I copied your code here for the gear directly into the default.lua file but having no luck - Am I supposed to be inserting it into the 'Left vertical panel' section or adding it to the bottom of the 'Special input for 3 pos...' section? I tried copying it in both without luck Thanks -
And there are loads of excellent YouTube videos
-
Well, I've been testing it for the last hour and I can only get it to work with Easy Comms ON. With Easy Comms OFF I've tried every permutation I can think of without luck. Only with the hornet, ALL others aircraft work as they should
