  1. Whew, I totally got lucky with my Tacan buy. Here are some in the states for about 3 times as much... http://www.ebay.com/itm/Collins-Aircraft-C-9603-A-Control-Receiver-Transmitter-/130410200052?_trksid=p5197.m185&_trkparms=algo%3DSIC.NPJS%26itu%3DI%252BUA%26otn%3D12%26pmod%3D180780741525%26po%3DLVI%26ps%3D63%26clkid%3D5819191206476746860
  2. Once I get the panel I'll post some pictures inside and out. It might help some of you genius' out there to help me figure out how to get it all to work with DSCW (including the frequency being shown in the sim the same as what the panel says). I'm surprised that after all this time of people buying real parts (not meaning all of you) that it's so hard to get these things to work. How do they do it in the real sims?
  3. Before I start posting pictures of how the pit is coming (which is so far just the front panel), I have a question. I just bought a real TACAN which should get here in a few days for me to take a better look at. Here's the question: How can I get a real panel to work with the sim, and will connecting it up to anything like the Leo Bodnar card work? I know that I can wire up each thing to a card and use helios, but not sure which card and how... and also with power and things. Here's a picture of the tacan I bought: I also bought a bunch of panels from Pitbldr which should be on their way too. The main panel has been cut, and I'm currently working on the steps for the center T area, plus the pull handles. Nothing will be backlit for the moment as I can't afford the phidgets card. As such, most of the front panel panels will be carved out of wood. I just did the landing gear panel (will most likely replace these with Pit's panels later on). Here's a work in progress picture. The LDG panel is freshly painted with the labels stuck on. The AHCP is just a print out, as is the next to the right. This was taken just before I cut the MIP:
  4. Having actually flown a D model real world, I Totally can't wait to see what ED can do with this.
  5. Got it for even less. I put in 60€ for the offer, and the guy accepted. Free shipping too.
  6. Sorry Bone, but I need to steal a quote. Why is it so many people are disappointed? The next DCS:Modern will be one of those jets. The Mustang and all it's glory is being built by a completely separate team of designers... So people, stop getting you panties in a knot, and let them them get wet over all the cool things we'll be getting this year.
  7. Hey Paul, The 76th would definitely be interested, but here's a question... My squad mates and I are in different times zones (as you know I'm in Germany for a while). We can fly together depending on schedules, but the question is, is this a full everyone online at the same time type of event? I really want to do this, but events usually take place at 0100-0400 my time... Wife doesn't like that too much. I'm sure a weekend will be chosen, but for the pilots that are 6-9 hours apart... (we usually all fly together around 0700z since most are west coast, and the others are Europe time).
  8. Great pit! That seat look awesome. I'm pretty close too, sort of, over in Berlin.
  9. You could also get one of these which has breakers too. I'm planning on getting on, even though I would only need 2 push to test switches. http://www.ebay.com/itm/ECI-Telecom-Push-To-Test-Switch-Control-Panel-/130412519036?pt=Motors_Aviation_Parts_Gear&vxp=mtr&hash=item1e5d311e7c#ht_1593wt_922
  10. Follow this tutorial. It's how I did it. :smartass: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=80106
  11. Moken, I don't know about the rest, but I'm getting an IFF panel, and would like to get the same information. As for the on/off switches, if you are wiring them into a card like the Leo Bodnar, you can interface it with Helios. I currently have 5 on/off switches for my Elec panel all wired and they work completely in the sim (when the switch is off, it's off in the sim). There is a tutorial somewhere around here on how to do it.
  12. If you look at the pictures on this site, you can see that 6 pylons are removed along with the pave penny. Minus all ammo, chaff/flares, and quite a bit of fuel would make the performance much better than with the extra weight... Although I have tested a few maneuvers with a totally empty jet plus 2500lbs of gas, and it comes pretty close to the real. The biggest issue I have is the pitch up maneuver at the bottom of the gun run pass. Most of the time when I do the pitch as close to what I see in videos (outside and in cockpit camera views from airshows) I end up stalling and getting out of control, or it just doesn't work at all. http://www.thefightercommunity.com/fotos/Gallery/galeria29.htm
  13. There's one on the other side too.
  14. I definitely like the idea of the F-model Super Hornet for carrier ops, but I will always love the views of the USAF Heritage flight... and since we have the A-10 already... The F-15E is pretty well modelled in the sim, and the P-51 is shown to most likely be the Legacy aircraft... I'm thinking USAF all the way!
  15. I used to play that navyfield or whatever it was called where you fought in battles, building up your ships or getting better ships. I actually had the Iowa class BB some really awesome crewmen, but haven't played in forever. Last time I checked my account was gone. I think either one of these two MMOs will be great, and really looking forward to trying them out.
  16. Hey MTF, I just realized that you live 5 hours from me. Not much for in the states (when I lived in Spokane, WA... I used to drive to Seattle every other month. 5 hour drive. or, from my folks to my brother, NYC-DC).
  17. Not sure. I just spent around $1000 for xmas, and my pit... doubt the wife will even let me take her out for dinner on our anniversary next Monday... (well, I'm sure for that, but...) hehe. I'll let you know.
  18. Baltic, in the words I've said to my squadron pilots (being their Wing Commander, I can say whatever I want, hehe), if you don't practice it, you won't learn it. We're teaching an old (in age) pilot to do AAR. Although me and another pilot can get right in, hook up, fill up, and go off onto the wing he just can't get in there. With practice it will come. Pick up Paulrkiii's checklists and documents, study the manual, go out there and fly online with some squads, ask plenty of questions... and you'll be as good as everyone here. We all had to start learning to fly this from the beginning too.
  19. If any of you have SH5, that would be cool to make a wolfpack. I have done MP with a friend of mine before. Sucks though that you can't start from the subpen.
  20. Happy Birthday ED! Glad to see you're still doing well!
  21. Congrats! I remember my first solo way back in 1996. Mine was in a 152 though.
  22. I can't copy image links from my iPad for some reason, but I'd say I'm set for twin or single engine. Even if it's the hornet, the TM warthog is fine for me. I just want to know if I can take the parts from my cougar for my pit or sell it.
  23. Or at the very least, knowing if I should keep my cougar or if I can sell it.
  24. Also, the saitek pedals are cheap these days. I paid around $50 for a great set, albeit used.
  25. Me and a few others are working on that very idea. The website is still under contruction, but will be announced soon.
