I wonder why square and diamond was chosen, because there is danger of confusion if one is in a banked turn, a square becomes a diamond when looked at from a 45 degree bank angle. Think square/triangle or square/pentagon would be easier to distinguish. Wonder what the real life symbology is...

How do you get those LSO call outs?

Just for the computer-illiterate like me... Does that mean that the latest window update does not work with DCS, implying that I must somehow disallow windows updates for the moment, or is windows insider something special that ordinary users don't use?

Yup, sometimes it doesn't take the frequency I enter into the UFC, sometimes I can click AM to change to FM, sometimes it blinks back and forth between AM and FM, can't figure it out. For full disclosure, doing a cold start on a carrier her, not sure that makes a difference...

Since the latest update, the button to select FM for the radios has disappeared, replaced by "menu" (which cannot be selected), see screenshot. How do I select FM?:helpsmilie:

Is there anything special about using DCS.isServer() or DCS.isMultiplayer()? I am asking because I run it in single player and the script simply stops as soon as either of the two commands is called, i.e. any code after that does not get executed. :helpsmilie:

How do I obtain the unit object if I know its unitID? There isn't a Unit.getByID(unitID) command, correct? For illustration, if I know a unit's name I can get the unit object simply using Unit.getByName('unit name'), but how do I do that when I only know the unitID?

I also suspect that this was introduced as a feature and not a bug. The whole thing started when the VR experience was made more authentic for 2D screen users by making the image inside the FOV within the goggles sharp, and the cockpit outside the googles' FOV blurred. Unfortunately that made it unusable for VR users, because the entire FOV of the VR goggles is taken up by the FOV of the NVG goggles, making the cockpit displays unreadable. Then they introduced this "bug" that made the NVG usable by users of VR, by providing one eye with the NVG view, and the other eye with the sharp cockpit view. But I hope that this is only a stop gap solution.

Let's hope they'll make a training campaign like this also for the Yak-52, once it comes out:smilewink:

How did you get it to work?

Since I updated to the latest beta, the trim button in the Huey has no effect any more. I checked that it is still bound, and tested both "default" and "central position trimmer mode". Also checked that it is working in the Mi-8 just as before. Anyone else have that?

I had the same problem right around the same update percentage. Most of the update downloaded fine, but for a while it almost came to a complete stop...

how do I turn on the moving map?

I am a bit worried that the unload manager will help RAM usage but make in-game stutters worse, as it presumably unloads textures that are not needed at the time, but later in the mission they may become needed again and have to be loaded (leading to a stutter).

Can anyone tell me what the descriptor table for an airbase looks like (i.e. what entries it has, and what the meanings of this entries are. A useful answer could consist out a serialized printout of such a table for a particular airbase (say Batumi), and an explanation of the individual table entries. Thanks!

Thanks for the explanation. But I personally have not yet observed my system crashing because it is running out of memory in the missions I played. I assume it occurs only with certain missions, i.e. under certain circumstances, and that ED is currently figuring out when it happens. Does any body have a "recipe" (e.g. a certain mission) where this effect occurs? I'd be curious to try it out.

Hi gospadin. The "no GPS position" never goes away. See attached trk file. noGPSposition.trk

When I do a cold start in the Mi-8, the NS 430 will show "No GPS Position". What am I missing?
