  1. Is there a reason I don't see the new engine smoke? I was flying with my buddies a few days ago and I was the only one on the serer who couldn't see the engine smoke on the F-15's in the mission ... I tested with various fighter aircraft - no engine smoke on my end. Ran repair DCS OpenBeta - nothing. Is it bound to some graphic setting I'm not aware of (I have everything on high except Water b/c it kills my fps)? Does anyone have an idea what could be the reason. I own all DCS modules (not FC3). PAC works fine on my end.
  2. Nope, the bug is still present but you could load an earlier version until they fix this.
  3. No I'm not sure^^ I don't usually fly with easy coms I'm on the VA Server atm and will check. I think it has easy coms enabled. €: Yes you're right. It's white/grey/black IDK what black is for but groundcrew is black and I'm able to communicate just fine if I have intercom on or the canopy open
  4. Well, it took me about a month of training to get AAR right. I flew up to the tanker 3-4 times/week in training missions (usually 1-2 evenings/week) and I also refueled in regular missions during that time. If you have two throttles I'd say try and use them. Most imprtantly try not to rock the throttle - you only need very small adjustments to stay in position. If your aircraft is properly trimmed you should be able to hold a fairly stable position behind the tanker with only very small adjustments on throttle and stick. You might want to re-trim every now and then as you take on fuel though.
  5. Radios are really buggy in 1.2.6 so that's probably the reason for it. Just make sure you're using the right radio (UHF I presume) and the correct frequency. If it's still not working you can be sure that it's bugged. With easy coms you should be able to see if you can communicate with your wingman by the colour of the text. If it's white it won't work if it's black you should be able to contact. On normal mode you need to make sure you use the right radio and frequency. No indication if you're doing it right there.
  6. Yes ;) If you have a HOTAS WH you can make very precise adjustments with your throttle. When you listen closely in the video you can hear that the tone of the engine(s) constantly changes as I adjust the throttle but it's barely noticable most of the time I usually come in on the Tankers 7 or 6 o'clock and then crawl up using both throttles. Once I'm in a decent formation I'll leave the left throttle in a fixed position and only make constant adjustments with the right throttle. I end up increasing left throttle every now and then when I feel that the plane slows down as I take fuel but it's only tiny adjustments.
  7. Actually the throttle adjustments can be so minimal that you will barely notice the yaw. Don't rock your throttle back and forth like you see it in some videos. I've had great success with using almost exclusively the right throttle on my hotas to adjust my position behind the tanker and just increasing the left throttle marginally as the plane becomes heavier during AAR. The result is a very smooth refueling process: I use constant minimal throttle adjustments (mostly only a few mm back and forth) in the video, almost exclusively with the right throttle.
  8. Or you can just use DMS left/right with HUD as SOI (Coolie Hat up short) to switch between weapon profiles. Much faster than using the DSMS page and as a plus you keep your hands on your HOTAS the whole time. If you have the mav page on one MFCD you can change your SOI from HUD to Mav with China Hat fwd short.
  9. Engeine wasn't damaged it just cut out shortly after take off. However that was quite a while ago. Not sure if that was intentional or a bug.
  10. Don't do do that. IIRC your engine tends to die shorty after T/O if you turn on pitot heat on the ground. Unless it was a bug (it's been some time since I experienced that) only turn on pitot heat after take off.
  11. I can not reproduce this problem. Startup is working just fine. Multiplayer or Singleplayer doesn't matter. I tried all the Cold start P-51D... Pls post a track.
  12. Same here. Started the airplane without problems.
  13. ^This! If you're careful on the stick you'll notice vibrations just before the accelerated stall. Thing is the P-51 only gives you very little time to correct that so if you're pulling too hard you can't react fast enough.
  14. Training flight:
  15. Well I used this Training Manual to learn the P-51D: http://de.scribd.com/doc/34811808/North-American-P-51-Mustang-Pilot-Training-Manual The only charts I couldn't find in the flight manual by ED were the flight planning charts.
  16. I haven't seen any of this in the original manual either. The manual provided by ED is pretty much a copy of it.
  17. Total capacity 150/220lbs... I see no error there. In case you didn't figure it out yet 150 = 2x75, 220 = 2x110
  18. Yes, tankers are completely broken atm. Sometimes one has to wondor how something like this happens. I mean it shouldn't take more than 5min to test something like this. I don't think I've ever been connected for more than 4min before my tanks were full.
  19. To specify, aerial refueling was a little bit broken before the patch, now it's completely broken. When you connect to a tanker it will immediatly disconnect you with the message "Transfer complete. Disconnect.". Regardless of how much fuel you actually have in the tank.
  20. I had quite a few near death experiences there xD
  21. Thanks guys ;) Practice, practice practice... If there is a tanker in a mission I'll most likely use it at least once. Very useful for longer missions like Operation Bactria or the Seperatists Aggression Campaign
  22. That was impressive. I haven't flown the Mustang in a while. Pretty sure my first few landings will be pretty bad when I get back to it. Even under optimal conditions^^ xD
  23. yeah they sometimes do this, I don't know why... but it happens from time to time. Never if there are other A-10s waiting behind me though ;)
  24. I finally remembered to record one of my refuel attempts and I didn't lose contact once! I have done this before, obviously. Sadly i didn't record my first attempts back in January where I failed miserably. Would have been a nice comparison :D YmJpsd8bN7s
