MFG Crosswind - Review
xaoslaad replied to Flamin_Squirrel's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I would not get worked up over the time it takes for international deliveries. As soon as it's international it involves customs and usually switching couriers. I've done this with small electronics from Israel via two different couriers multiple times as well and it was no better. Basically plan on 2.5 weeks and slow or non-existent status updates between the time it leaves the first couriers hands and it reaches your front door. I had never seen the lost/missing paperwork before, but regardless of that it's still well on par with anything else I've received in terms of time clearing customs. -
SLI works wonderfully now in 1.5 Open Beta. You just need to add the exe to the dcs:bs profile and tweak a few settings using nvidia inspector. I get ~40 fps with one card and ~80 with 2 at 4k resolution.
-
Both. It's not uncommon for the Open Beta and release to be at the same version. Although Open Beta will likely be pushed to 2.0 in short order from the sounds of ED's hopeful plans.
-
No idea. My guess is between now and CV1.

Hi! Sure thing, a quick do over is attached I got off the ground as fast as possible and on target ASAP. It's a short flight, so hopefully it doesn't waste too much time. I watched the replay with fraps up and I went from 80+ down to 18 and then 3 fps when the rounds landed on the Hip. For specs: I play at 4k, most settings turned up, sli 970's, i7 6700k, 32 GB RAM, and Intel 750 SSD. The game plays phenomenally other than this interesting frame drop I hit on learning PROGR mode. Anyway, thanks for looking. If nothing else I'd be interested to learn if it is(n't) as severe under other specs/resolution/settings. server-20151026-220046.trk

I've seen that before with other aircraft. Seems to happen very rarely
-
I was learning to use progr mode with 4 gunpods firing on the Su-25T with cut off fire turned off. I launched a big enough burst of ammo at an Mi8-MTV2 on the ground after locking on with the Shkval to kill it in a single pass, but holy cow it causes a lag spike like I have not seen yet in 1.5, which is running ~80 fps for me on average. It's like it had to sit and think hard about every round impacting the chopper.

SLI does not work with the Oculus Rift yet...
-
I have the same with high settings with 32GB, i7 6700k, and two 970's (only using one though since SLI isn't supported...)... SLI will undoubtedly improve much whenever it starts working, but I wonder if the CV1's higher resolution will cut it right back down.... may just have to mess with settings to get better fps.

Is there any possibility to have Crimea in DCS again?
xaoslaad replied to Dyk's topic in DCS Core Wish List
That's probably easier said than done without running afoul of some legal mumbo jumbo, at least by people who have seen ir worked on the old one. And once people start popping up comparison shots of old vs. new they're influenced, which probably also isn't great if they continue to work on it. My IANAL guess though. -

I got my invoice yesterday and tracking number today. The lead time is supposedly decreasing as they catch up with orders, so we're probably getting towards the end of the long waits according to an email they sent out some weeks ago. -
Somewhere it was said the discounts on regular sales won't be as steep in the future. The bonus sales may end up being the better deal. Which is fine with me.

http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=2095879&postcount=11 Had the problem with my pedals in rocksmith. This is how I did it. Disable, start the game, enable the device. It's like DCS in that if it isnt connected when the game atarts it wont affect it.

What he'z saying is tacview can yield a view of how things went down. You may slap your forehead when you realize you gave the 29 a sweet shot, or whatever. It's wonderfil in what it can reveal. And ever have thosw what jsut killed me moments? It's great for those too.

Yes, this was just doing some quick testing in the mission editor and research this morning. I did not check the evenings...
-
Yes, I've noticed this too. I just made a separate thread about even the times at which it gets dark and light. The days are rather short from what I can tell looking at charts for the sunrise and sunet. The sun isn't even up at 9AM in the winter in the game and the latest it will come up this year over Tbilisi is 8:28AM. Then accounting for twilight there should be at least a bit of light at 8; and it's pitch black...
-
Looking at this site the latest the sun rises is at 8:28 AM in Tbilisi. http://www.timeanddate.com/sun/georgia/tbilisi?month=12&year=2015 Twilight should probably kick in around 30 minutes prior give or take. Yet if you create a mission at 8AM in the winter it is pitch black. At 9AM the sun still isn't over the horizon, though it's at least getting red. But the sky is still pitch black with stars everywhere. I realize this isn't game ending stuff, but would be nice if it were a little more accurate. I am a Massachusetts native in the US, which is at a similar latitude and even accounting for our silly daylight savings it's surreal to me how dark it is in the game at that hour. It's more like what I'd expect in Moscow, given what I've seen there in the summer. (I've never witnessed the Moscow winter so I don't know from personal experience, but can imagine by inverting what recollect.)

DCS will never work under WINE because of the starforce DRM. The game will simply crash on calling the protect dll's, probably right at startup as is the case with 1.2
-
That's a load of nonsense. The game might well run fine on Linux under WINE if it weren't for the starforce DRM. The old 1.1.1.1 games used to run perfectly right up until you hit fly and hit the protect.dll What makes you think DCS is in any way any more complex than the myriad other modern games that run under WINE. There may be reasons it would be problematic to get your setup working under Linux, like lacking drivers and profiling software for the myriad specialized controllers people have for flight sims, but to say that WINE couldn't run DCS (if it weren't for the DRM) without trying is silly. There may very well be stuff not implemented that the game relies on, but how can anyone know that without looking that the code for both or trying with an unencumbered copy of the game.

Those lines on the runway blurring is antistrophic filtering or anti aliasing (probably the former since someone already said that and I have no reason to doubt them). I had it too and boosted those up and it went away. Agree it was very ugly to look at.

Public issue tracker :D

Its the screen scaling. If youre in windows 10 go to the settings for display and set the scaling to 100%. On mine itwas a 150% which it says is recommended and I had the same issue. It will make your fonts/desktop etc. really small, but the game will work normal. I've just been switching back and forth as needed.

[REPORTED] Cannot host old missions - not showing on server list
xaoslaad replied to xcom's topic in Multiplayer Bugs
A lot more than I do now. I just added the carriers back and so it went that it worked. Added 4 Su-33's and it worked. Added two Ka-50's and it stopped. But, for me if I delete one of the Ka-50's at Batumi it will show up again. I've attached it if anyone wants to see if it does the same for them... FWIW this mission is just 55k and doesn't come remotely close to the 150k I saw earlier in the thread. Free Flight and Practice Carrier 1.5.miz -

Ok, so I'm sure that's not a bug because how? Literally putting two carriers on a map and trying to rehost and not seeing the server and then removing them and having it reappear is something that I somehow should be able to diagnose further? What's your point exactly? -
[REPORTED] Cannot host old missions - not showing on server list

I tried twice with a mission I was chopping up piece by piece to find the cause(s). Just adding the Kutnetsov and Carl Vinson sent the server to hidden land. They may not always be a cause, but in at least some they are.
