@IvanK 2-ship F1 flight: the echelon F1 is being sucked towards the lead F1 way too much and from way too much distance. Flying a proper formation (wingman aligning lead aircrafts wingtip with canopy), wingman is started to be pulled (in a turbulant way) towards the lead aircraft from a distance of 10-15m, wingtip to wingtip. In relation: an entire aicraft would fit in there, if you would fly overlaping or 0m distance wingtip to wingtip. It is definitely too strong. It's a lot stronger than with other aircraft, say for example 2-ship F-14 flight, F-18, -16 or other modules. I did not test dissimilar compinations, such as F1 being lead or wingman and other aircraft is a different type. Maybe @Bremspropeller did that some point.

Appropriate weapon for Libyan and Egyptian MiG21s
Bananabrai replied to Gunfreak's topic in MiG-21Bis
Did the Syrian MiG-21 during that time also had no canons? SPS was the jammer, correct? -
It should be removed permanently, as an object, 3rd party wise, I don't think there is supposed to be a lamp post higher than the actual runway lighting. Also that close in on short final, there should be no such objects that high. Same counts for Haifa. The fence is already pretty high, but the 2 lamp posts just on final, really not cool.

is DCS a Ship Simulator and weapons systems Simulator only ?
Bananabrai replied to GOZR's topic in DCS Core Wish List
True. WX is pretty hard to simulated. And the DCS frame is pretty old. The better sims are getting, the more nuance details you will still feel missing from real flying. Get some support dude, I think you are not breaking anyone's dream of DCS but only your own. Always like to read from people that never had the opportunity to fly IRL and describe their passion about the sim. People who are dreaming of becoming a real pilot. And then real pilots like you come around and 'talk'. Why was that again? Because nothing will change until you rant around? And now it will? And of course it will be fixed faster now... because a 'real' pilot showed up... Thanks for making other simmers really like us. Back to you bob. -
So this is about the threat ring logic only? Or is there something else? Because for me, the Harrier's RWR also seems to be too precise, which is more disturbing for me, than the incorrect threat ring logic on the Hornet.

Hi, I have a very weird issue and I still believe it is on my side, but I don't know how to solve it. I have problems with a very... how to say it... anticlimactic gun. Every time I have my pipper on a ground target or on a bandit, I squeeze the trigger, nothing... Then, to check it's working, I turn cold, it's shooting, weird, ok, one more run... not firing... what the... It feels like some kind of quantum particle gun: when I watch it and it needs to perform, it doesn't. I have the gun on the second detend of my TM warthog grip, I use this grip with a 20cm extension on a Virpil CM3 base. I also had the very same problem with the same grip and my old WarBRD base and 5cm extension. I have this problem just in the harrier. The 2nd detend is working fine for other modules like F-14 (Trigger), Viggen (TV fix), etc. I think I checked it already and have this problem also if I use another button for the gun, but I check it again. Is there anything known about this?

Only tested this one so far. As always, the craters are of course only 2D skin (fine by me) but the sinking into the crater and damaging the gear is missing. We can check more airfields and different bombs from different aircraft.

fixed Sidewinders on Tip Stations placed too far aft
Bananabrai replied to Bremspropeller's topic in Bugs and Problems
Bump of the bump -
The runway of Puerto Natales is undestroyable. I took of with a Mirage F1 and a load of 8x BLU-107 Durandal retarded and rocket propelled anti runway bombs. Dropped all 8 on the runway, 4 on each half, mostly centered. (I like to bomb runways and then test land on them afterwards, for the fun, no airfields were harmed in these experiments...^^) The craters were visible. I landed on the runway, but could taxi without issues (as on fully intact runway). Tried to taxi directly over the craters. Not even the slightest "falling" in these craters. @Bremspropeller also landed without issues afterwards.

Schroeder airbase has it's runways reversed

Can confirm, I am on the screenshot as well -

One of the things that are harder in the Sim than IRL. We are missing the feeling in the sim, the haptic and everything you get back from the AC.

It's the norm. Every real aircraft behaves differently with trim. Some have big increments, some you can trim very fine This is indeed how real aircraft behave. Trim is not meant to reduce control forces of a given attitude (that would be an ATT - HOLD mode), this is substantially wrong and is exactly what I can the in the sim community as expectation - use trim to level of perfectly. However, the massive difference is: trim neutrals control forces for a given aerodynamic state. The aerodynamic state changes with every little fragment of a knot, with every fragment of a degree of bank or yaw, etc. The slightest input or force changes this balance, and there you go, the trim is not correct any more. Not fundamentally, but it just wants into a slightly different state. If your speed and bank is constant however, in a modern jet with a very fine trim, like the Hornet, it should be fairly stable. The Viper is a different story. This behaviour is best observable in small aircraft (that's why I am a fan of very basic flight training and not starting of in a Hornet or something fancy) You set a certain trim, forces are almost gone, and you let go of the stick/yoke. The aircraft will make small changes again and again, around this perfect state the trim dictates. Basically it will oscillate around this state very smoothly, given near perfect conditions and roll stable.

It's not up to us to unlock the topic afaik. I can try and investigate, I did not ask why it's still locked. But the others are as well (C-130, Kfir,...) Our midset simply was: if nobody else is going to do it, we are doing it ourselfs. According to our info, there were no plans from HB so far. ED gave the go ahead for the project, so there was no one else blocking it. Also we turned out to be lucky and met the right guys at the right time. Besides, I think HB has their plan full. By being in such a project now, I can see the sheer size. I don't know how many people they have, but just seeing how many modules were released so far, as a reference... They have the F-4E (and other variants), the Typhoon, plans for the A-6E. I think that's something like 5+ years, if F-4 and Typhoon are ready next year.

I turned the pitot heat on just after takeoff. Still the reading stuck to 0 at some point.

Amen, das sag ich mal meinem Team Leiter. Vllt können wir die Testkampagne für nächste Woche absagen Grund: System einfach zu komplex...

Has supersonic performance been adjusted?

Joined flight sims in the late 90s, DCS also since the early days. Wondering why I got over this frustration earlier... It is what it is. Yes, potential is great, I also really wonder about EDs priorities sometimes, but DCS is also not that big of a cash cow as some GTA or Assassins Creed stuff, or whatever. I stopped waiting for the dynamic campaign immediately after it was announced. I wonder when people are learning and accepting that everything in this sim takes ages. Enjoying the game in the meanwhile as it is, happy when something arrives, not pissed when something doesn't arrive 'in time' (community definition of it).

Thanks for the input. I did some testing in the mean while, I think I found my setting. I have a Virpil T-50CM throttle, revision 2 or 3 now (not CM2/3), the old large one but with that xbox joystick TDC and the pinky on the left throttle and I use that now as the microswitch. So I have it automatic off and the pedals not trimmed and I take off the spring as @Hiobdoes, failry quick with the MFG. I just have to remeber at start up to put that mircoswitch to "on" (feet on pedals), so that exaclty what you describe does not happen (YAW AP moves pedals in game while MFG pedals stay in the middle or whereever they are) So I also understand the logic now. Thanks for the help.
-
Ok, then I need to ask another question to fully understand, I am still a bit lost. Why would I want to have the pedals not trimed or trimmed? Out of the blue I would say trimmed for me, as I have standart MFGs without damper and I dont detach the spring when I fly helo. I could try to get rid of the spring liek Hiob does, then I guess I could use it without trim. What exaclty does the Y setting then do (microswtich) for the pedals trimmer button? Up to now I was flying with YAW AP off and Pedal trimmer (T)
-
If instead I want to use the Microswitch Button option, I think I should set "Pedals Microswitch Button (Y)" instead of "Do not trim" for the Pedals Trimmer Button, correct? How does your setting behave? Up until now I was not using YAW AP since the release of the Hind, due to the funky behaviour, but I want to start using it.

adding to your list: - Have an option to put a piece of tape on the yellow lamps of the gun sight. It's really blinding in those rare cases when I use NVG PS: I know cockpit lighting in this pit was never made for NVG. But I am sure this was a valid solution, as it was for other aircraft that were not ready for NVG use but had be used with it in the rush of war.
