Terrain/Water reflecting radar impulses.

Hmm, why not!

Which Video card should I get?
xxJohnxx replied to tusler's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
780 or 780Ti is the was to go. -
There are no submarines in vanilla DCS at the momment. So I guess it is not possible...

Affinity mask determins on which and how many threads/cores a specific programm runs. It is decimal value a certain arrangement of bits returns. You can calulcate it like this: - I7 Quad Core with Hyper Threading off, say we want to run or programm on Core 3 & 4: Thread/Core: 4 3 2 1 Bits:_______ 1 1 0 0 When entering that into a binary to decimal converter it will return 12. This is the affinity mask you would enter if you want the programm to run on cores 3&4. -I7 Quad Core with Hyper Threading on, say we want our programm to run on cores 3&4 again. Thread/Core: 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1 Bits:_______ 1 1 1 1 0 0 0 0 When entering that into a calculator again, it will return 240, which would be the affinity mask for this paritcular setup.

I tried Shadowplay with DCS a couple of times now. I get various problems. One of them is that only sometimes the "In Sim" footage can be recorded. Often, as described by the first post, it just would not record DCS. Performance while recording is worse than recording with Dxtory, altough I am on a fairly good setup (2x GTX 780). The lack of many needed recording options is another thing. Just so many features missing that other, sometimes even free, software has.

This is not a bug, is it?
-
Probably because some Tester started to read the forum from the top and came accross the more recent post first and added it into the bug database. Then he cam across yours, which was a duplicate of the bug allready in the database. Doesn't really matter though!

Having one unit in moving group state RED, the rest GREEN
xxJohnxx replied to xxJohnxx's topic in Mission Editor
The "AI off" can be set for single units out of a group with the built in trigger functions. However, all units with the "AI off" will just sit there, while the remaining units drive off. I was thinking about two separate convoys. I have seen approaches with two different moving trigger zones, where the closer trigger zone would stop the following convoy, the further away will set it to continue again. Might look stupid though. But I guess it would work. Or are there any scripts for that, wich could do the same nicer? Like adjusting the speed depending on the distance instead of stopping it completely? Thanks, John -
Having one unit in moving group state RED, the rest GREEN
xxJohnxx replied to xxJohnxx's topic in Mission Editor
Unfortunatly the SA-11 will go into a pre-launch mode if you want to call it like that. The command-vehicle, searchradar and launchers extend their antenntas, the searchradar will deploy and start turning and the launchers, given a target is within engagment range and the searchradar found it, will turn towards the target. Just when the launchers are about to fire they will shortly halt to fire their missiles (with the launchers not firing, trying to drive arround the firing launchers). I am not sure it should be that way. I guess the SA-11 search radar would not be on, on the move. Therfor the disabling of group dispersal doesn't change the behaviour. -
Hi, I am working on some little mission. Basically I am having a SA-11 battery on the move, protected by one Tunguska, which is in the same group. I would like to have the Tunguska constantly be in the RED alarm state, while the SA-11 (in the same group) should not be active, therefor alam state GREEN. I coulnd't find a way to do this. Deactivating the "Unit KI" for the SA-11 units won't allow them to move. I couldn't find a way to change the alarm state of a single unit out of a group. The closest I could get was with a MIST script, where the whole convoy would be in the GREEN state until a target was within LOS. However, then the Tunguska is not having it's radar on (which would nice to have. Maybe not for this example but for other applications too). I wondered if there might be a script to acomplish that. Thanks for your help! John

TM Warthog. No mods. Noc curves.

No. The 1.2.8 beta patch does not use your 1.2.7 configs.

Nice job Wolle, thank you very much!

If you are low, there could be terrain masking. However the speed shouldn't matter, as your fast spinning rotor is a very good radar reflector.

Anybody know what the "Cockpit Visual Recon Mode" in the options is for?

Version 0.0.3 is out Today I have version 0.0.3 for you. It contains new tools (ruler, save/load), higher update rates between host and client, new connection methods and many new more things. Check the changelog included into the download for more details! Check the first post for the download link and updated information! Feedback would be appricated! Best regards, Jonathan

The invisible option makes the unit invisible for the AI only. Players still can see them.

I would like to know this as well, because my current SPI setup is probably not giving me much more than a solo card.

How dare you! :P

Thanks for the info Esac! I did some more tests and I can confirm that.

BTW, could anyone get the Mi-8 working with TARS?

The fuel pump failure message is triggered when there is low pressure sensed tough the switch is in the on position. This can have two reasons: - The pump failed. - There is no fuel going through the pump any more. I guess the second option is the cause for the messages you are getting. Result your fuel meter's main tank indication for further information ;) John

Does DCSW support the PhysX of nVIADIA or the Mantle of AMD?
xxJohnxx replied to wiseking's topic in Game Performance
And PhysX would have rather limited use in DCS as well. It is made to calculate dynamic particle effects, smoke, etc, not to calculate flight dynamics of aircraft. A game which shows what PhysX can do is Assassin's Creed. It seems to be a general missconception that the graphics card is some magical thing that can do everything from rendering images (which it is made for, duh) to calculate PhysX and whatnot. Which it is aperently not, because else a PC would not have CPU but more graphics cards instead.
