Squadrons is the keyword here. It is sad, but if you want to have a decent experience in multiplayer (especially in a wartime scenario, aerobatics is another thing) you most likely have to find yourself a squadron that shares the same views about realism and experience.

Don't worry if you lose a prop blade !!
xxJohnxx replied to Der_Fred's topic in Military and Aviation
Would be good if it would be that way on a normal prop :D I would rather prefere to lose all my blades than just one, to be honest ;) -
Two GTX780Ti in SLI :D To be honest, I didn't get much improvment from upgrading one GTX780 too two GTX780. So I would rather go for one GTX780Ti. But that might all change with EDGE. Who knows!

I had a look into my Warthog and as it turned out the o-ring was still in place however there were some plastic chips in that area. I used some Ballistol (according to the lable used for weapon maintanance and cleaning of dog-ears) to remove the old grease. It worked very good on the metall surfaces, but not so good on plastic surfaces. Then I used some industrial type grease (apparently produced to be used for greasing gear racks) to grease up all the moving parts, including the very sticky plastic gimbal. On the gimbal I couldn't remove the old grease because I didn't want to pull it apart, because I wasn't to keen on resoldering the ribbon cable. So I just applied the grease from the side. A bit messy but worked pretty well in the end. After putting it together I could definatelly notice an improvent. I have it for about 2 years now, and it became very sticky. Now it is almost like new again. I might also consider replacing the o-ring.

prospective FLT-SIM rig --- reality check
xxJohnxx replied to SDsc0rch's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
The setup looks pretty decent. I would recommend a GTX780Ti though. It's somewhat more expensive but you definatelly should get better performance, especially with that processor. It might also has some benefits once EDGE comes out, because that might better utilize the GPU. -
Just to let you know, some pages earlier it was said that no post processing effects are allowed ;)

I actually realized right now that I don't follow any gaming news, expect the stuff that get's posted on these forums. Hmm. Might want to change that...

I guess we are not limited in the ammount of screenshots? No? Okay, here we go: Just some of the best shots from the screenshot folder. Mostly made in the multiplayer, but some are also from the campaing.

MFG Crosswind - Review
xxJohnxx replied to Flamin_Squirrel's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I had my pair of Crosswinds rested against a wall as well. However, recently I had to move my desk arround to get more room and therfore my peddals are not pushing against a wall anymore. Please do apologize the bad lighting, they are mounted under the table so they don't see much light. Also I should mount the cables in a kable tray, I know :P. Anyway, to prevent them from sliding arround I use Tesa double sided sticky tape. It is about 2mm thick and 3 layers of the tape are about as high as the rubber spacers. I used just a few stripes of it, and it is incredibly strong. I first had the pedals mounted somewhere else and when I tried to reposition them I had a very hard time to get the loose again. I had to use a hammer to jack them out of place. They won't even bodge if I try to move them out of position with my feet. I would say it is impossible to move them out of position by accident when flying and pretty hard to move out of position when trying to do so. -
I don't think that is correct. Dean Hall (Rocket; main DayZ developer (both mod and standalone)) is working for Bohemia Interactive at the momment and DayZ standalone is officialy developed and published by Bohemia Interactive.
-
The standalone is in an alpha right now. Far from beeing finished. Howerver, a lot of people play it, and it is fun, though there is a lack of content.
-
Not sure about that:
-
No, you just will run out of fuel pretty quick. 100% power on the ground results in 3,2l/sec fuelflow AFB at M1,06 about 6,4l/sec And Emergency afterbuner about 8,8l/sec

Nice video!

I fear that I will wack quit a lot of my own MiGs before I got to wack anyone else. The MiG 21 does not seem to be that easy to fly and the engine seems to be a little bit prone to failing due to surges and the like.
-
The new engine has aboslutly nothing to do with aircraft. It is desinged to replace terrain rendering and has not much todo with the aircraft itselfe. And it might still be some more months out, so better not wait for that! :)

They said they will release it once it is finsihed. I haven't seen them lying to us anywhere.

I think it will have the SPO-10 radar warning reciver that shows radar illuminations from 4 directions (front, left, back, right). It can determin between a radar in search mode (blinking lights indicating the thread direction) and a radar which locked the airplane up (all lights illuminating, no direction readable). The SPO-10 will have a huge amount of blind spots and is nothing close to a system like in the A-10. Missile warning system is just very simplistic: Mk. I Eyeball If you can't see the missile, well that's your day ruined. I think ECM is the SPS-141-100 container, which should be active and passive (probably not to much of a challange to DCS ModernFighter™) counter meassure capabilites. I belive it is able to automatically dispense flares/chaff when you are locked up by radar, but nothing fancy again. Don't expect anything like you would see in the A-10. Hope that was some sort of help.

Trying to explain it: Backside: - Gun trigger. It has 3 positions: up - safe, down - armed and depressed - fire. - Bellytank drop. The pinkyswitch is used to drop the central fueltank. - Wheelbrake. A leaver used to controll the wheelbrakes. Front: - Trimmer (up/down). - Autopilot recovery mode button - Autopilot disconnect button - Radarlock button - Weapon Trigger That's all. Nothing fancy, just some basic stuff.

I guess to quickly build railway lines into enemy territory? :P

FSX is quit decent on airliners and GA stuff. I wasn't able to find a nice helicopter though. The default flight dynamics for helicopters are not that good, and the addons are meh compared to DCS. Perpar3D is about the same as it uses the same engine. I don't know about X-Plane. Never gave the helicopters in there a spin. In my opinnion DCS is the best helicopter simulator out there to my knowledge. Some FSX AddOns come close, but DCS is still the best for that sort of stuff. Best regards, John

Just as a side note: The game appears to be programmed in Unity

They now even have a kickstarter: -->click<--

That has been confirmed long before: :P
