  1. While I agree with your fundamental point, I don't at all agree with this. Architecture does, and will, make a huge difference. I have a 2500k, and do you really mean to tell me that if I get a current gen 4-core I won't get a hell of a performance boost, clock-for-clock? Because I'm almost certain I will.
  2. ^ Yeah, probably somewhat from manufacture, but also from uneven use; rolling more than pitching, which I'm pretty sure we all do, or at least pulling more than pushing. That will probably wear the four holes differently, and thus you have another mechanism producing preferred directions. At first I also suspected that the orientation of the main spring (which is obviously cut at two places and therefore not symmetrical) could have a similar effect, but I tested it quite thoroughly the last time I greased mine and saw no evidence of that. Another thing: if you mess with platform directions your calibration will most probably also end up out of whack, so make sure to check that.
  3. One thing I found is that the platform performs differently depending on the orientation at which it is installed. I got more or less play in all of the four possible rotations, so if you have your stick apart again it might be worth checking which direction gets you the best result.
  4. I've lost elevator authority once too, but in a shallow dive at non-excessive (but possible supersonic) speed. I pulled the stick and nothing happened, which killed me. It was a while ago and I can't post a track, sadly, so I know this anecdote doesn't add much.
  5. Well, EDGE probably will run smoother; the current engine is outdated and inefficient as I understand it. How the new maps run, however, is anybody's guess I suppose. Note that those are two different things.
  6. Yeah, I can't reproduce it either. The other week, a buddy I was flying with and I both noticed that our gear horns hadn't sounded when retracting. Just wanted to check if anyone else had noticed anything.
  7. I'm sure that the landing gear warning horn hasn't sounded on several of my raising/lowering operations lately. I thought it was always supposed to sound. Ideas?
  8. GeorgeLKMT makes some of the best liveries I've ever seen.
  9. How long did it take for you guys to notice the stuttering? I did some tests earlier, just a few mins, and I never saw anything like that.
  10. So does anyone else have less FPS now in the cockpit than the previous patch? Better than the original release, though! EDIT: I made a mistake with a setting, cockpit performance is amazing!
  11. I think they were fixed, but then LNS changed external model to fix some fps stuff I think (that's why we now have problems with gear doors clipping bombs, the recently fixed sideways nose cone etc), and this stuff isn't fixed in the new one I think.
  12. Yeah, I know, I mean your View Distance setting in the options! EDIT: this happens to me on High too. It's probably just a wrong file name somewhere, super easy fix if so.
  13. What's your view distance and which livery is that?
  14. Well, I do like variable sweep...
  15. I dunno man. None of those aircraft give me that loving feeling.
  16. Yeah, maybe you could check the full release out and tell us if that difference is gone when you get a chance.
  17. Some of my squad buddies talked about take-offs being improved in the beta update, so if you don't see any difference now I guess they found a problem and pulled that change from the patch.
  18. How have you defined your use of the word "units"? I know that in the F-15, a unit of AoA as shown on the indicator is (AoA)_units == (AoA)_deg + 10.
  19. They probably just want to check that the entire installation doesn't break, like a few updates ago.
  20. Seems like it!
  21. The LODs are still broken, but I'm sure LNS knows this. EDIT: They seem fixed in the new update!
  22. Start DCS and check the version number in the bottom left corner. It probably says 1.2.10.32275, in which case you're up to date.
  23. That's generally how experience works, yes.
  24. First of all, it's in open beta, so if you don't want bugs, you can wait for the final release. Could there be fewer bugs? Sure. Is it reasonable that a dev team's first release is less smooth than the average? Yes. Have LNS, despite their lack of experience and personnel/resources, still produced one of the best modules for DCS ever? Yup. It's "could have". Come on, focus.
