Choose the new name for WSO AI. It can't be Jester anymore
ricktoberfest replied to phant's topic in DCS: F-4E Phantom
How about “Snort” as a tribute to Snodgrass. Obviously he was a pilot but who cares. -
Don’t forget that bridge they tried to bring down with hellfires.

I think people really don’t understand how different developing for DCS is from msfs. It’s not like you can just port over the code- it’s a completely different thing. Look at how many developers thought they could get into the game because they made a plane for fsx.

Frustration venting - Cold start on multiplayer servers
ricktoberfest replied to Trettifire's topic in Multiplayer
I think it’s also used as a balancing tool. If you can eject from an aircraft and respawn back into the enemies territory too quickly, then it could allow people to overwhelm the enemy despite not having an advantage otherwise. load up that av8b, launch a/g weapons, eject and repeat and suddenly a task which should take hours and teamwork to win a mission is done by 1 guy in an hour. -
[SOLVED] Listening suspends on every other PTT press
ricktoberfest replied to The LT's topic in VAICOM
I was having this issue and it turned out to be a conflict with the DICE mod. Removed the mod and it worked properly again. -
Beware DICE and VAICOM don’t work at together. Creates issues in VAICOM

You can do it outside the game via a mod that changes the lua file. Just make sure you enable it after each update.

A simple work around is to use a program like “joystick gremlin” to create virtual button pushes with each axis. I do that for the rudder axis on my TFCS throttle to bind it to the VR zoom functions. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Sounds to me like you’re coming in too shallow. I don’t know if it’s different with the tomcat but with the hornet it should be around 700 fpm. I think you’re getting into ground effect and there’s not enough vertical velocity to overcome it without adjusting the throttles (Note that I haven’t watched your tracks/videos, I’m just guessing by the fact you said you were coming down at 500 fpm) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Damn- I must have misread. I thought that was part of today’s update. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I’ve never noticed any clicks for the detent. It does make click and sounds just moving it around, but they don’t seem related to a position Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Weapons sometimes cannot be selected from stores page?
ricktoberfest replied to Savvy's topic in AV-8B N/A
We’ll like I said, haven’t flown it in awhile. I guess I’m wrong then. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Weapons sometimes cannot be selected from stores page?
ricktoberfest replied to Savvy's topic in AV-8B N/A
Haven’t flown the harrier for a bit, but one thing I do know is that you can only have 2 types of AG weapons onboard. Is it possible you’ve been mixing more than that? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
What aircraft are you flying? It can make a difference. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Have you checked if shift u is the right key command to salute? Or tried using the radio menu salute? Or checked if your shift key is working? It sounds like you’re pressing the button to detach from the catapult instead of launch. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Why not make the squat switch also turn off NWS as a workaround. Not the action of the jet, but the switch itself? Makes more sense than cycling the hook. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
INS Alignment permanent drift - major bug!
ricktoberfest replied to Mr_Blastman's topic in AV-8B N/A
What is the date in the mission? If it’s before 1997 then there’s no gps and so you don’t turn to ifa , you turn to nav to use the ins. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Mission length tolerance/preference. I need your feedback.
ricktoberfest replied to Gambit21's topic in Chit-Chat
Well if you’re going for realistic then the mission is as long as it needs to be. As a normal course of events though I don’t think many people have more than an hour or two at a time on any given day. Unless you’re single or something. For me that would also have to include planning and briefing. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
I think of the mi-24 as the Russian equivalent to the Huey gunship, and the ka-50 as their answer to the Apache. It’s not equal, but the jobs are roughly equivalent. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Option to force Jester to align INS when engines are off?
ricktoberfest replied to WelshZeCorgi's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
I don’t think it would speed anything up anyways. When he gets power from the running engines be starts the alignment process. Telling him to do something like coarse is just telling him to stop it earlier. I don’t think he starts all over or anything. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Can you download an update and install from a 2nd drive?
ricktoberfest replied to Bartacomus's topic in DCS 2.9
So even though it’s downloading to another drive, it still needs the room in the original drive for the update to be applied. If you haven’t already you can check the option to compress the contents of your hard drive. That will save some room. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
