Great. You'll need to set Channel 01 on the Green VHF/UHF Radio and use the "Coms" or "Green Radio Menu" Button You'll need to re-trim your aircraft for your approach speed/AoA (160-180 knots) or use the auto-pilot. You should then be able to control your descent mostly using small throttle movements. Obviously if the AoA increases too much (i.e. starts stalling), etc. you'll want/need to take control and smooth out any phugoids, etc. before re-trimming When landing, I usually place the velocity chevrons near the top of the two brackets or land on the faster side as it's easy to bleed off speed quickly if you allow the AoA to increase and the speed drop too much - obviously with practice/good control, flying with the velocity chevrons in the brackets gives you lower speeds and a shorter landing distance. Here is a short video demonstrating me flying "Training Mission 4 - ILS Landing at Batumi", after about 24 hrs youtube should add auto-translated sub-titles for your preferred language.

I am pleased to say I eventually convinced Steam Support to make a exception in my case and refund my 3rd of Jan 2022 purchase. Rebuying under the new App ID 1882810 installed the missing DLC manifest to Steam\steamapps\appmanifest_223750.acf and the missing files/folder were installed. At least the problem seems limited to the old App ID, however it's definitely worth fixing the old Steam App ID and manifest as the problem (missing files) will effect anyone who bought the NS430 Gazelle Plug-in on Steam between 6th Nov 2021 and 26th Jan 2022. Note: The link to the old Steam "NS430 Gazelle plug-in" store page was somewhat broken but could be reached via the main Steam NS430 page - so although the number of owners is likely small, there is at least one other owner who left a review.

Mini-gun variant = Special forces variant to provide suppressive fire (at night ?) Facebook video from Armée de Terre https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=281867828964985 Google Translate (for those who don't like Facebook) "Groupement Aéromobilité de la Section Technique de l’Armée de Terre added 26 new photos. 25 July at 07:00 · You picked up the picture of the gazelle with the machine gun. Here are some additional elements on the work done by le. To respond to a need expressed by the 4th rhfs, Airbus has integrated a mitrailleuse machine gun in port from the gazelle helicopter. This 6-Gauge Rotary machine gun has a firing rate of 3000 strokes per minute. After an evaluation of the implementation (ground and flight in Valencia areas) and the maintenance of this new weapons system, the brand team organized, in collaboration with the 4th rhfs, a campaign From Sunday 5 to Friday, 10 February 2017, on the site of captieux. This campaign allowed: Evaluate the implementation of day and night gatling with jvn; Validate coordination within the crew and associated employment procedures; Define the safety rules related to the use of this weapon; To validate the different firing configurations. The ten shooting sequences (seven days and three nights, 30 rounds fired) were carried out without incident." Mistral variant = a real thing, works with teams of other helicopters to provide self-defence against other helicopters, etc. There's documentation of M's and L's working in groups for Desert Storm (1991) with a special forces CSAR transport helicopter providing support. Four French Gazelles were equipped with Mistrals by Matra for the Gulf War. They never fired in anger. The Mistral Gazelle officially entered French service in 1996 after 9 years of development. https://www.flightglobal.com/mistral-armed-gazelles-enter-french-service/6585.article Photographic walk-around of a Gazelle Mistral http://www.primeportal.net/hangar/ulrich_wrede/sa342l1_gazelle_fr/ IRL = Yes, in DCS = not AFAIK. For ED's helicopters it's a Mission Editor option (rather than loadout change) and changes the IR signature (fitting Mi-8 suppressor 0.5 --> 0.3). The small, single engine Gazelle already has a low IR value in DCS (0.2). IIRC, the dev(s) said the DCS exhaust heat shield reduces power, as well as adding extra weight.

I've rolled back and verified DCS "Stable" (2.7.9.18080) on Steam and the 'NS430_SA342' folder is still missing - so it looks to be a Steam, rather than Stable/Open Beta, issue. Steam has refused to refund* my 3rd Jan 2022 "NS430 Gazelle" purchase as it includes a product with 2,615 hours played ( ~109 days). * In order to buy the "NS432 Gazelle plug-in" using the new App ID 1882810 Lets hope ED can sort out the issue, as otherwise it looks like I might be buying a 3rd copy of the "NS432 Gazelle plug-in" in the next Steam Sale

The latest versions of DCS have a WIP VR 2D NS430 pop up that places the 2D popup on the wrist of the LH hand controller or directly in front of your face.

As titled, I bought the NS430 Gazelle 3D cockpit model last Christmas and flew a test flight in DCS 2.7.9.18080. After the latest Open Beta update (2.7.10.18996) the NS430 Gazelle 3D cockpit model has been removed from the game/game files. DCS passes Steam's integrity check and the DLC manger shows that the "Gazelle NS430" is installed but of zero size. Additional Info This is the Steam App ID of the version I own https://store.steampowered.com/app/1522410/DCS_NS_430_Navigation_System_for_SA342_Gazelle/ and SteamDB Info for the same. https://steamdb.info/app/1522410/

Change in App ID's, contents and eligibility to be included in Steam's Luna Sale. Detail • Old All-in-one NS430 version 2D plus 3D L-39 and Mi-8 - on sale (if check out works) 50% discount = £8.49 https://store.steampowered.com/app/933980/DCS_NS_430_Navigation_System/ • Old Gazelle version - on sale (if check out works ?) 50% discount = £2.49 https://store.steampowered.com/app/1522410/DCS_NS_430_Navigation_System_for_SA342_Gazelle/ • New NS430 2D base version (similar to ED Store version, doesn't include L-39/Mi-8 3D models) - not included in Steam Luna Sale (£7.99) https://store.steampowered.com/app/1725570/DCS_NS_430_Navigation_System/ • New Gazelle version (New App ID ?) - not included in Steam Luna Sale (£4.99) https://store.steampowered.com/app/1882810/DCS_NS_430_Navigation_System_for_SA342_Gazelle/ If you buy one of the older packages - you'll have 2hrs DCS gameplay / 2 weeks ownership to refund if it's not what you expected i.e. by checking your folders However, I'd advise waiting until ED and Steam sort their App ID's as my old (Christmas purchase) "Gazelle NS430" folder has disappeared after the latest "Open Beta" 2.7.10.18996 update and am not sure if it's a Open Beta or Steam issue.

Intercepting radial using NS 430, flight plan and "Direct to" button
Ramsay replied to elewarr's topic in Bugs and Problems
The more advanced features of the GNS430 that you are looking for are broken in DCS's NS430, only flying direct to a WPT, VOR, etc. works. See this old report for more detail ... -
Yes but there can be complications if trying to preserve campaign progress and player stats. Often (usually ?) the different versions will have different save folders and player stats, campaign progress/folder paths are stored in Saved Games\DCS[.openbeta, etc.]\MissionEditor\logbook.lua logbook.lua should be very similar between 2.7.5 and 2.5.9 versions so if you want to copy 2.7.5 to your 2.7.9 (beta ?) save it should be safe but it'd be worth while to keep backups in case of issues or later wanting to revert. Currently DCS Stable and DCS Open Beta are on the same version 2.7.9.18080 https://updates.digitalcombatsimulator.com/

Unfortunately I don't know (these common recommendations come from ED's discord/community manager) - the question is why do you want to max your pre-load radius ? Speculation The impression I have is, the max pre-load radius (150 km) is a legacy from when DCS loaded textures, etc. off a hard disk and PC's were slower. DCS has grown in size/detail so much that (since 2.5.x) filling RAM with as much pre-cached textures, etc. as possible can be detrimental as it reduces the memory available to DCS (Syria will take/cache ~54GB RAM if allowed). At a guess, the size of the pre-load radius was always a compromise but now DCS is mostly run from SSD's, the balance has shifted to having a smaller radius. IMHO if it's something you notice, I'd test that playing Syria was stable for a few weeks and then try increasing the pre-load radius to see how far you can push it.

Doesn't seem to have changed i.e. • Ramp Start --> Airborne, NAV mode, Master Arm = Safe • Open Stores Page on LHMFD • Box IRMV • Optional - Start Stop Watch • Approx. 3.5 minutes later IRMV STBY --> RDY on Stores Page. Note, I do find the IRMAV de-selecting itself (unboxing) when switching to/from TPOD mode (sensor select double tap)*, so if this was to happen while the IRMAV is spinning up it's gyros/cooling, you'd need to restart the process from scratch. *Not sure if this is a MFD "IRMV boxing" display error or if the weapon is deselected (looks like it as HUD weapon symbology is missing if done on a attack run), just that I have a number of unexplained procedure failures were I'm having to repeat my attack run to get a successful IRMAV launch. Tested DCS Open Beta 2.7.9.18080, SP cold start, Batumi

Not quite, the PCN accepts data in XX degrees YY.YYY minutes format (3 decimal places) but only displays the first 5 digits (one decimal place) i.e. XX degrees YY.Y minutes, the last digit(s) are used for a "hidden" level of internal precision. In your example, the co-ordinates are in degrees, minutes and seconds ? so you'd enter 41 deg 36.75 min (last digit (5) is stored internally but not displayed on the PCA). The kneeboard's initial position displays co-ordinates in degrees and minutes to three decimal places i.e. N 41° 36.450', but the PCN can only display one decimal place, so this will be displayed as N 41° 36.4' (even though internally it is storing N 41° 36.450') This "hidden" precision is true to the RL unit, so when performing a full alignment, the last digit(s) (50) should be entered even though they will not be displayed. In DCS, when the PCA's INS key is pressed confirming the data entry, the co-ordinate is displayed at the top right of the screen and will confirm it's full precision i.e. N 41° 36.450'

Can I make AI fire the minigun (like in the Huey)
Ramsay replied to sirrah's topic in SA-342M Gazelle
No, an AI gunner has never been a feature of the Gazelle Minigun variant but IIRC PC's new coder has said he'd like to add it. -
Yes, creating Mark Points and stepping through them still works. At what stage are you struggling, • creating Target/Mark Points with the TPOD • checking/stepping through them using WP Inc SHORT/EHSD buttons and watching the TPOD track the different points/targets. • Using WInc LONG to upload co-ordinates to the first JDAM and/or bring up the HUD JDAM N0, range, cue, etc. • Arming/Dropping the bomb(s). These are a couple of videos that may help. Note, my preferred method is to use TOO and TPOD to setup T1 to TX (if req'ed) and an use the weapon page to select as many target points as need and drop without the need to step though the mark/target points. Tested in OB 2.7.9.18080 using GBU-38's in Single Player, Caucasus map.

Multicrew Autohover and HOT-3 targeting issues in 2.7.9.17830
Ramsay replied to Toumal's topic in SA-342M Gazelle
1. Agreed, especially since IIRC US flight tests and private owners mention a "Badin switch" (IAS sensor ?) that disconnects the SAS yaw channel above 90 km/h (as it loses authority ?). IIRC the SA341 POH warns of a yaw change as the SAS yaw channel switches in/out at that speed. 3. Strange, we had no issues in DCS 1.5.x (late 2016 ?) and were even able to perform a few slow moving HOT3 attacks, IIRC the pilot skill level was similar to that req'ed to hold a steady hover or land on a building and the CPG needed to be able to hit moving vehicles, etc. Unfortunately, early in 2017, I gave up on Gazelle multicrew due to problems with mission triggers and AI spawn/movement desyncs and we never went back as 2x Gazelles are generally more effective than 1x multicrew (though not as much fun - when it works). We plan to give MC another try with the Apache -
TL;DR: No Detail: Previously you could have the IRMAV on the Left MFD and the TPOD on the Right MFD. This is no longer possible as the TPOD and MAV share the same video feed/cable, this is now handled by switching between the TPOD and IRMAV modes/display on the Right MFD. Depreciated method of using the TPOD with IRMAV's - no longer applicable. Current method now that the TPOD/IRMAV video feed limitation is modelled For more detail check out Chuck's DCS AV-8B Guide, Section 10, page 301 https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Oui_4r45YaNdk3iCtxSz-KxxGHuT1x-E/view?usp=sharing Note that currently (OB 2.7.9.18080), • slewing in INS mode is pretty broken, with TDC down slewing up, TDC right slewing left, etc. • Switching to/from TPOD mode (sensor select double tap) - DESELECTS the selected weapon (IRMAV), so you'll need to reselect IRMV on the LH MFD when ready to uncage/view/fire the IRMAV on the RH MFD (I've also seen the IRMAV appear on the left screen but AFAIK that's a random bug).

Multicrew Autohover and HOT-3 targeting issues in 2.7.9.17830
Ramsay replied to Toumal's topic in SA-342M Gazelle
Specifically I was trying to addressing this part of the OP's post ... and explain why PC chose to model autohover differently (realistically ?) when another player joins in multicrew. -
Multicrew Autohover and HOT-3 targeting issues in 2.7.9.17830
Ramsay replied to Toumal's topic in SA-342M Gazelle
Auto-hover as it works in Single Player, is a "cheat" to allow players to search using the Viviane camera and fire the HOT3 missile while the AI pilot/co-pilot handles collective and yaw. AFAIK IRL the Gazelle Auto-hover only has authority over the cyclic (it's possible PC has received new info.). Multicrew in the Gazelle isn't wholly supported ATM due to exacerbated sync issues introduced with DCS 2.5.0 (at which point PC removed the co-pilots ability to fly the helicopter). PC have said they'll revisit the MC code once the KW is out and the Gazelle FM been updated but can't make any promises. With that said, multicrew is said to be functional when • The pilot enters first in a cold aircraft. • Once in the cockpit, he pushes the GEO/UTM button on the NADIR once. • the second player can then send his request and join. • Once the second player has joined, the pilot can continue the start up, etc. Unfortunately YMMV as the latest DCS patches seem to have reduced the reliability of this method of syncing the two cockpits. In multicrew, the pilot • is responsible for managing yaw and collective in auto-hover (this is by design and not a bug) • can use ADI "VIS" mode to align the helicopter with the camera • should check the co-pilots Viviane TV matches his view and/or guide co-pilot so the target/crosshairs align for pilot (pilot's helicopter decides if target is hit) -
If you click on the $5.99 NS430 Navigation System --> Steam Gazelle NS430 and from there follow the link to the old "all-in-one" package (50% discount @ $9.99 / £8.49) you *might* still be able to buy the old Steam package but it's not clear what you'll receive as the L-39 and Mi-8 are now listed separately ? The only way to be sure is to make the purchase and refund within Steam's "2 hrs DCS gameplay/2 weeks of purchase" time limit. This post *may* help you determine what you are buying but YMMV :

Please post a copy of your "Saved Games\DCS\Logs\dcs.log" after a crash loading the Syria map, as it may have important clues. AFAIK, the most common reasons for Syria to CTD are : 1. Not having a large enough Windows Page File i.e. Min/Max should be set to 16384 (1024*16) or larger (32768) Unfortunately DCS can run out memory when Windows is automatically managing the Page File. 2. Having too large a preload radius set in DCS>Options>System • 16GB RAM --> 30,000 max preload • 32GB RAM --> 60,000 - 100,000 max preload
-
Looks like you have a user name/path with none standard characters ... AFAIK this causes the DCS M-2000C to CTD. Note: There's a patch* available on Razbam's discord that fixes the issue (unfortunately it wasn't included in the latest Open Beta update). * IIRC it breaks the MP integrity check
-
AFAIK DMT-TV TDC slews look correct, while INS slews look broken or WIP ? It's possible for the INS East/West slew direction to differ from DMT-TV i.e. if INS was to slew using the EHSD 'north up' as a reference frame or DMT-TV pitch up/down switched to slew north/south but that's not what is happening in DCS Open Beta 2.7.9.17830, where both lateral and vertical slews are inverted and don't appear take heading into account. I think Razbam need proper SME feedback to confirm RL behaviour. Tested DCS Open Beta 2.7.9.17830
-
TL;DR: I'm not 100% sure (as your video doesn't have any commentary as to what and when you are doing stuff) but it looks like you are slewing in INS mode after firing the 1st IRMV but eventually manage to cycle back to DMT-TV mode. Detail:

It is - the *real* cover is spring loaded but in DCS it was found to be awkward to simultaneously use the mouse to hold the cover open *and* press the starter button.

The training missions and campaign were originally designed (2017) to be used in conjunction with the manual and in many cases reinforced or expanded on it's contents. Originally 90-95% of the missions/systems worked as designed/described. However both DCS and the Mirage has evolved, with A/G radar added to the SDK and AdA feedback/support used to turn the DCS Mirage M-2000C "game" into a RL "training aid", etc., etc. Some of these changes actually make the Mirage easier to learn i.e. ILS, as the new behaviours make more sense or are logical extensions of similar systems. Unfortunately these changes have also made the "old" missions less than ideal i.e. by changing parking sizes cause the AI to reposition larger aircraft and block taxiways, cockpit switch numbers change for checking player input, etc. AFAIK updates are planned for the Mirage's campaign and training missions, once the "rework" is stable, but unfortunately Baltic Dragon's "day" job takes him away from his "gaming rig" and is a limiting factor.
