  1. I forgot to post this. After doing some ground attack work with DavidRed I realized exactly how shot up I was. Flew the stang home and the landing went smooth except for the gear digging into the runway. Not sure the cause of that but I've seen it occur a few times while landing a damaged plane. Tally: -Half an aileron gone -Half of a flap destroyed -Half of each elevator chopped -Perforated prop -0 tailwheel -Many holes
  2. I went with Staples office supplies store if you have them where you're at. I had them cut it down to 23x44 (The black border surrounding the map) since they can laminate up to 24". It cost me less than $5 I think.
  3. The strange part is that David can fly on other servers, some in the US even, with no problem. And it seems like the server is operating properly as many people were flying on it yesterday.
  4. Most dogfights in WWII were very short. 15 minutes is an incredibly long time to dogfight. Only in the movies do pilots fight long drawn out engagements were they re-engage multiple times. In addition to that, the manufacturer of the engine specifically states that the engine should not be run at full for more than 15 minutes at a time. Wouldn't you think they are the authority on the subject?
  5. That's no good! We had quite a few people flying today and I was on for at least 4 hours. I have no idea why the server would show for some but not others.
  6. Brandy could be quite useful at high altitude temperatures.
  7. Most of the AI 190s flying on my server are set to Average. They are mostly there to give people something to do if there are not many human opponents. I'm not sure about "mistakes" but as with the AI in general you can force them to work at the fringe of their routine which takes away most of their advantages. They can't stand a slow turning fight but I wouldn't recommend that, except as a last resort, as it sets you up as an easy target for others. You can, with practice, get the the AI to climb to near stall, like DieHard said and that is usually the easiest kill as they are almost stationary. The only trick is that you need plenty of energy to meet them at that point. Come on by and try it out! DieHard, I noticed this morning that the server crashed during a pretty good session. Sorry about that, I saw about 10 people logged in.
  8. I personally think sun reflections of some type could make a huge difference in resolving this. Especially, when looking below. I have become much better at spotting over time but I still think it can be improved. I have 20/15 vision but it doesn't feel that way in-game. And I hate using labels and stopped quite a while ago but you can find yourself searching the sky for quite a while without the help of live map data or comms with the enemy.
  9. Project on hold for the moment. Nice wooden frames are too expensive!
  10. There are subtle changes with each of the skill levels you can choose in the ME. All of them are able to fly pretty well and shoot very accurately. My advice... Try not to ever let them behind you. If you need to lose the AI pull tight slow turns till he breaks off then work on gaining back energy. They love the diving attack... Be aware of that and keep eyes on him. If you want simple gunnery practice try changing the AI planes to CAS.
  11. Were you low at that point? Under a certain altitude the radar is triggered by the ground.
  12. I never said I disagreed with you... simply that we've discussed this at length before :) From what I understand it would require a new a/c to be added with different parameters incorporated. I actually have referenced the exact same document you posted. Perform a DCS forum search for "octane". The fifth result... http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=111592&page=2
  13. ohhh boy...another octane discussion. :D
  14. And we thought tracking every .50 casing was a taxing job on the CPU! The real question: Is Ed going to add a C-123 so we can crash land on the strip a la "Con Air"?
  15. It's your typical road map type paper quality and thickness. And yes it is a water color drawn map.
  16. Green is fine for transit or sightseeing but I think the OP wanted advice on Combat Settings. If you can stay in the Green in combat and survive...call me impressed.
  17. Only the good looking ones! Thanks.
  18. I don't see the server up...I'm assuming the day has been changed. It seems odd to cater to us in the US since we seem to cause all the lag on the server :music_whistling:
  19. Awesome mega update. Lots to be proud of!
  20. Even though Wiki does claim they were the top scoring group (701) the 4th FG destroyed 1,016 aircraft in Europe. Interesting.
  21. Once again, it was stated at one point that there will be twice weekly updates by Ilya. Yes, "some updates" have occurred... but in contrast to what was expressed. I'm happy with the terrain work and I've tried to lend as much help as I can there. My "concern" that I believe is shared amongst several of us is with official lines of communication and coordination. I do not have a direct line of communication with the "main man" so I rely on the forum and the kickstarter page. A published timeline might also help to set expectations. Any status is better than no status, IMO. Generally I agree that people tend to overreact and get impatient here BUT now you have individuals who have given their hard earned money on good faith to help this sim become great. No one has said "Is it done yet?!?" Just looking for consistency.
  22. Thanks. This one is 23"x44" I also have the intention of using dry-erase markers for movements and perimeters and such. It looks great too :) and the historical relevance is cool enough to have hanging full-time in the man cave.
  23. Why not! First customer? Shipping might be a biatch.
  24. That was awesome. Lol
  25. And that has been great. If Ilya wants to hand off the updates to dev team members I think it would free him up to manage the overall effort. The word "regular" is the critical detail here that is angering the natives. If something is offered and does not materialize it can create a stir. Like I've said before, I don't need two weekly updates... but some sort of scheduled regular status would be a good start.
