  1. Dont have a choice with the VA server If we dont have the admin tools working then I wont be running 1.2.7 on the VA server I cant run a non admin controlled server Pman
  2. I have the OB on the VA server but having a few admin side issues but we will get through it :)
  3. Now im just begging for it to work with 1.2.7 which it doesnt appear to want to do at the moment
  4. I am updating the VA server as I type but the download is very slow at the moment Pman
  5. As with Rock the pilots I have spoken to have all given slightly different answers, Some use full 3000rpm and others as low as 2500rpm. Personally I like the feeling 3000rpm gives me and gives me the most confidence of a solid and controlled landing. Pman
  6. Hiya, It does seem you having a tough transition to DCS:P-51D I have been flying flight sims since the late 80's and this is the first true representation that I have found. All the other sims have their quirks and their problems and I am not saying DCS is perfect but it is alot closer to the real thing. I dont know if you have read the report above about the Horsemen flying DCS but its worth a read. I was fortunate to have been working there with Rock at the time and spending time with the real Horsemen and getting their thoughts and opinions on the sim. In combat the P-51 and the Fw190 do fly almost perfectly regardless of settings, this is something I have seen time and time again on the boards. You only really know how well your doing when you pit up against another flesh and blood pilot. The tanker / civvy plane you speak of doesnt have a detailed damage model like the P51, it takes x number of damage then its done. Due to the detailed damage model of the P51 it takes more direct damage to bring it down, this could take 5 shots it could take 50 depending on the location of the damage. As for the controls in the game menu, this is being added in the next patch 1.2.7, I'd expect this in a couple of weeks. Sim or game mode for whichever aircraft is chosen from the special options under options from the main menu. As for the view if you dont have trackIR then you are at a major disadvantage. You need trackIR or equiv to make the most of this sim, playing without it will always feel wooden. Hope this helps Pman
  7. Rock and I normally demo DCS @ Duxford 2-3 times a year The first show will be end of May, Then July for Legends and then September for the last show of the year. There are other events we do as well for ED/DCS but those are the shows at Duxford. Pman

    Hi all.

I am sure there is space for you in the one of the squadrons :) To be honest children (<16 yrs old) are quite rare in DCS, they dont have the patience for it Good Luck in the hunt! Pman
  9. The Virtual Red Arrows Flew using FC2 with a mod using simple flight model The Patriots however used an L39 with AFM Pman
  10. I think practice is def the best course. But that said I dont know of anyone who does precise aerobatics with no curves and forget doing it in formation. Our controls are just not precise enough at default levels. I fly Piper Warriors and A Super Cub in real life and I have to say esp in the Super Cub that you do notice a big difference when not using curves. There is more play in a the real aircraft then with a stick without ANY curves. If I had a full length stick I think it would be fine without any, but with a short desktop sized one I dont think its that close without it. I certainly wouldnt be able to hold steady formation in the Horsemen without a curves setting and I know that goes for the other pilots from VH too.
  11. Just pleased to hear that people enjoy it! Ive been looking at the prelim display list for the show and there is some really top quality flying on there! Its a one day only event folks so be sure to be around as there is going to be some out of this world displays happening
  12. My general settings is something like 30 curve on aileron and elevator and with dead zone of about 3-5 about 3 degrees of right rudder for take off and thats about it Pman
  13. Thank you :) As for the P51's, We do like to try and do at least one training flight a week on the server, give people abit of a show while we are practicing :) Pman
  14. Absolutely right It's a compromise, I don't have space for a full length stick, but that said I don't suffer with any problems re curves etc with dcs
  15. Thanks Mav! Hope to see you at the show! Its down to the pilots who frequent our server that VA has been the success that it has! I checked the server logs yesterday and I will be running a little competition via our FB page. Akin to how many sweets in the Jar, How many unique pilots have we had! I will find a module to give away :) Pman
  16. Looking forward to it! Its been a manic year for Virtual Aerobatics and I cant wait to celebrate that with some flying from some of our friends! Pman
  17. It takes abit of trial and error to get the curves setup well But remember it is not an easy aircraft to fly, not even close. To fly it on the edge of its performance limitations takes skill and alot of practice. You cant expect, regardless of settings, to be able to get it up in the air and throw it around successfully on the first go Pman
  18. Due to a slight mis-communication, the Warthog stick competition details will be announced during the Virtual Red Arrows live flight. Listen out during the stream for further details. Add "All existing entries will be given to VRA and will be valid for the competition"
  19. Track file are now automatically created when a crash is detected. In order to help the team find and correct MP issues that we are not always in position to produce during testing, 1.2.7 introduces the writing of tracks even when the game crashes. These tracks can be provided to the testers and developers in order to reproduce the conditions that caused the crash and correct it. This feature is a big step towards solving possible future and current problems that are often difficult to hunt down. When playing on a server and you experience a crash, put up an MP crash post and include that track in your post. Same thing goes for server owners. This thank god for this, everything else is nice but this is essential
  20. on the VA server its generally about 350-500kbps per player and thats with zero AI If you have an AI heavy mission like ENO then I can easily expect that to double, at least.
  21. The only really difference is the rear fuel tank which in modern mustangs is not allowed to be used. In most modern Mustangs it's been removed entirely and those that still have it are prohibited from using it as it makes the aircraft dangerously unstable. Aside from that the aircraft will turn as it will turn, it flies as it will fly Combat or aero makes no difference to the aerodynamic properties of the airframe
  22. Just to backup Sithspawn here, I have watched 7 real Mustang pilots including the Horsemen fly DCS-P51 and they havent been able to fault it (bar Dan with the rudder which is more a setting and our flimsy equipment compared to a real set of rudder pedals) I cant imagine that many WW2 pilots who would be interested in it being quite frank. Anyone who says that these guys' opinion isnt valid just isnt worth listening too really. Show me someone MORE qualified to talk about the P-51 then the display pilots at Duxford or the Bremont Horsemen and I will listen to it. Until then its just hot air from people who cant fly DCS P-51 therefore the sim is wrong as they are Ace pilots quite obviously
  23. haha so basically what your saying is that you have problems with it and need it changed? Just accept it mate that even with modern harness's (Bear in mind I have tried 3 different mustangs with modern kit as they are airworthy examples!) you cant see diddley squat out of the front of the stang and I can actually look down the nose of my stand in DCS and see down the front So the really REALLY funny thing about your silly rant is that you can actually do what you are whining about anyway....
  24. Someone with their head screwed on Oh and to answer an earlier point im 5ft 8 and I had a 6ft guy with us, still struggling to actually see anything useful out of the front from a strapped in position. Personally I think the OP just struggles taxi'ing and wants an easy solution. You seem to be the only one who thinks this is incorrect...
  25. Nice vids :D
