I know your trying to help Sith, no arguement there. I have tried Slmod in the past and had nothing but problems and speed was less then helpful. But my point is that both servman and slmod are having these issues. I cant do a server rotation on a never ending mission like on VA, people would end up flying in the dark... Pman

Here is the latest VA mission with the racetrack on it As for updating servman it has been added to up until end of June. But nothing since then as there are no viable alternatives. If we cant use Servman and there is no dedicated programme then I will close the Virtual Aerobatics Server as there is no alternative Pman edit: only other thing on there is some anti weapons code to prevent weapons fire. Afaik that code is unique to the VA server, so if it was just me crashing fair enough but with all of us doing it I doubt its that 9940-Virtual Aerobatics 1.2.6.miz

My server runs Servman
-
My install is totally clean, no modules, no mods. Nothing The only thing on it is servman and if you want me to remove that then hosting a server will be impossible

Last crash log on VA server
-
Well I can say the RAM usage is much lower so some work been done there. However the server is still very unstable, I think it may run for a few hours but not alot more. As for scripts, I only have the race course and servman installed on ours Pman

Well so far since I updated the VA server its crashed 4 times. This is going backwards! it was more stable on 1.2.5! Please tell me Sith that these things actually do get tested in some kind of real environment as at the moment its turning into a full time job just to keep a server running in DCS

VA server is crashing just as much as pre-patch Sadly
-
Right well I have got the VA server up and running atm, will report back on any crashes
-
Nice to see a Uk based squadron! Pman

Just in addition to Ells' post above, Virtual Aerobatics is honoured to host this and we would encourage as many people as possible to sign up for this, I will also be looking to arrange for the event to be live streamed as well for those who cant fly or are unable to get in. Pman
-
Yep if 2 people have the same skins then it will show correctly :)
-
Stock ones are up to about 10-15mb tops. But they are pretty low quality compared to some of the ones on the market which are much much nicer. I have one I am looking atm which is 73mb...
-
This has been discussed before and the problem is the size of the skins, some of which are up to 80mb in size. If the VA server was to supply those to whomever connected it would be a massive amount of load for the server. This one has to remain with the user, its not that hard to download a skin and install it tbh

I can tell you for a fact that there is a constant connection between The Virtual Aerobatics server and the master server all the while its online. Even if you intend on local lan play it has to go through the master server, for example if you start a lan game and unplug the router from the net it will discconnect you from the lan game saying it cant communicate with the master server
-
Not quite true. If there are problems with the master server then servers can become unstable, all traffic and server data must go through a live master server. If it doesnt it can cause servers to crash Pman

The servers are still running very badly, There are alot of us that are still having Major issues. I havent heard of any old time servers for a long time now
-
When another good one is made we will try it :p
-
He flew it on Rocks Pc which doesnt have any curves set for the rudder but does for the other axis.
-
I'll start recording on the VA server for an hour at a time and see what I can find Pman
-
If it helps I have been watching the VA server since its last reboot and the memory consumption has steadily increased up to 4.2gb so far...
-
+1 to this Virtual Aerobatics Server is suffering exactly the same. The hotfix yesterday hasnt fixed this issue.
-
To my knowledge there is no training specific server and bearing in mind the cost that I have to stump up just for the VA server I would be amazed if anyone put one up. Thats ED's job really, if it is even a job.

Oh said like a man who has yet to answer his 200th newbie in a weekend. New guys are not a bad thing, everyone starts somewhere and sometime. But if they struggle with the idea of playing with keybinds or pressing R/shift + Home then we as a community are in real trouble

I spent abit of time talking to Ed and Dan after their flight, they were both very impressed. To quote Dan "you will not get much closer, unless your in my airplane" Everything in the sim was turned on. We didnt have Track IR working as the hangar door was open and the light was interfering. We also had Steve Hinton, Steve Hinton Jr as well as a few other pilots fly the sim and they were all very impressed. Steve Hinton Jnr was a big fan and was talking about the sim quite alot over the course of both weekends. They all tried things like the neg g push, wing stalling, wing buffetting and they were impressed with each and every thing they tried to catch the sim out with. What more can we say? hehe One of the best things about the weekend was being able to speak to the real Stang pilots and compare what they thought of the sim vs the real experience. We are back in September to meet up with some of the pilots, cant wait to see what they think then! Pman
