  1. I hope so, Really do
  2. Well I have tried a couple of things and nothing has made much difference, our mission is as basic as basic gets. Ed screwed the pooch on this one. Sorry guys, I know you do alot of good work. But you screwed something up royally here.
  3. sure, I should be around, send me a poke if im in my "office"
  4. Hmm... Its a difficult call. I do not want to have to Pw the VA server, it defeats the point of having it there in the first place. Luckily I have disabled 99% of the weapons on the server so shooting on the whole isnt an issue. That said I think the next few weeks could be challenging to say the least. I might just have a macro on hand next time someone asks "How do I start the engine?" --> "Press Esc, then quit, go to options and read the damn controls....then come back"
  5. Hey Mate, I have the Jtac etc set to zero, is this the setting you mean? Pilot can control vehicles is off, and all the commanders set to zero Pete
  6. I've remade the VA mission with nothing but the aircraft, no ground units bar ships, no scripts, no triggers, no race course. Mission still crashed over night :/
  7. Just to add from the VA point of view Generally I have people on most of the time to give help and advice to new pilots but of recent (thanks to Steam) we have been flooded with alot of new people. Most of which just hit multiplayer and go. Now I like to think that VA is a welcoming place and people can really learn their craft here, but there are limits. I dont think its too much to ask that someone at least checks the controls and how to take off / land even a basic FC3 aircraft before going online?
  8. I may be able to help here as I asked many of the same type of questions at legends to many P51 pilots (6 that I can think of that tried the sim with us) Shutting down the engine in the stang normally involves putting the parking brake on, running the engine up to 2000rpm with the rpm lever full forwards (use manifold pressure to manage the rpm) and then after around 15-30 seconds cut the mixture. As for the handling of the Mustang, All of the pilots who flew the sim commented on how close the aircraft behaves to the real thing. All of them tried little tricks to catch the sim out and in every occasion the sim modeled what the pilot expected, normally surprising them in the process. I have never flown a Mustang, but I have flown other prop aircraft inc high performance tail draggers and it performs close to what I would expect. To quote Dan Friedkin "This is as close as you will get, unless your in my airplane" Pman
  9. Heh seems familiar. The amount of people we have had come into the server since the steam launch who want to shoot stuff... sigh... Oh well perhaps out of the 1000 people spamming we might get 1 or 2 decent pilots out of it. I'll help most people but I do expect the person who is asking for the help to do their bit. Im not into spoon feeding.
  10. our server is crashing left right and centre So unstable since 1.2.5 If I could roll everything back to 1.2.4 I would
  11. Hey Guys, Need some help from the experts :) I have got 99% of this working, great job Aussie, but I have the hud spawn well above the "hud frame" in the F15C cockpit, I have to sit up high in my seat, reset TrackIR and then sit back down to get it vaguely in the right place. Something I missed maybe? Many thanks Pman
  12. install it from the module manager, easiest way
  13. Thats really best answered in 2 points First the sink rate plummets if you go too slow, see point 1 of my list above. Keep the speed around 150knts until your wings level and ready to begin the final decent to landing. This will allow you to control the sink rate, as at 150knts with full flaps you can actually climb out of a dive no problems. The second about predicting the glide scope this comes with experience and keeping the downwind leg short, dont try and do a long straight approach in the stang, you wont have a great view of the runway and hence the glide path will be more on faith then prediction. If you know exactly where the runway is in relation to the trajectory of the aircraft controlling the glide scope is just a case of managing your speed bleedoff, most stang pilots in the sim have a tendency to stall the aircraft onto the runway. Do you fly standard patterns when landing? Ie: downwind, base and finals? Pman
  14. Landing is one of the hardest things to get to grips with the Mustang. Tips I can give: Dont be too slow, go over the threshold straight and wings level at 150knts Be no more then 150ft as you pass threshold unless you are on one of the big runways like Sukhumi. Dont try and slam it onto the ground Keep the downwind leg short so as you turn base and then final you have minimal time with the runway out of sight As you pass threshold idle the throttle, counter with the rudder and let the aircraft glide onto its wheels In real aircraft pilots do something known as "circuit bashing" I recommend every P-51 pilot do this at least 10 times with no crashes before they can feel confident of doing it. Take off turn around to downwind, do base then finals, land and take off again. Rinse and repeat. If it doesnt feel right, slowly add power and go around and do it again. Better a 2nd attempt then a ball of flame As D said, there is normally a few P51 pilots on the VA server, or hit up one of the Mustang vets and they will normally be able to help you out Pman
  15. Dedicated server software, then Edge ;)
  16. I've not noticed any difference, same as it always has been for me
  17. Yeah I have already mentioned this to a couple of testers so hopefully it should already be reported
  18. is that £15 posted in the uk? or plus postage
  19. Heya, is there a track IR going? couldnt see one? Also the external drive still around? Pete
  20. update the individual modules in the module manager sorted
  21. I use the X52 Pro and so do the other display pilots I fly with in the Mustang Pman
  22. Just for clarity we were using Saitek Pro Flight pedals
  23. Just a tid bit of info, At legends this week we had the Real Horsemen come and fly DCS with us, including taxi'ing round an airfield, They said that it was so so close to being the same handling as the real thing that bar sitting in one it wasnt going to get much closer. Personally I have never had any problems taxi'ing now that I have rudder pedals but hey ho. Thought you might appreciate knowing what 2 real Mustang Pilots said about it, We also had Steve Hinton Jnr flying it as well and he seemed to think it was as good as you can get in a sim Pman
  24. This that I have highlighted matches what those 2 pilots at Legends told me, that 500ft was perfectly safe although a little bumpy ride wise but no VRS with 28-30psi If you do that in the sim you go into VRS Which either means the sim is wrong or those guys died 20 years ago. Hard to argue with 2 guys who have that much experience tbh But as I said, its in beta and no doubt belsimtek are aware of the problem
  25. I dont know if it helps, but at Legends we had 2 pilots from the Italian airforce try out the Huey and they said that the sim was very good except for the entry into VRS Now I know this is a beta etc but I can only go on what they said, they had over 5000 hours logged in the Huey. They both had 2 goes at landing the Huey and on all 4 attempts they entered VRS. The main thing they said was that they have set settings for an approach and when they used them they entered VRS when outside of the VRS envelope. They laughed and said if that was how it really works they would have been dead 20 years ago I am sure belsimtek have more data and are aware that for the moment its wrong so there will be an update in works
