I will be on the Virtual Aero server later Time if you need some help with the Mustang :) Get on teamspeak :p As for one of the other questions, the manifold pressure and prop RPM being tied together is a very bad idea, start reading up about engine management in the mustang, if you try and sync the two as you would expect a modern throttle to work then you will blow up alot of engines If in doubt ask, or pop in the VA server there is usually a P51 pilot around to help most of the time Pman

Not out to cause an argument but just saying that the Mustang pilots I have spoken to do not run at full military power for take off. Just saying

In our server when there is 20 people it takes around 4-5gb of ram depending on its mood Most of the time its around 3, but to ensure smooth running I wouldnt use less then 8gb in the machine

Really looking forward to this

Np with that, I even gave Merlin the details he would need to at least get started with a dedi if he needs it he knows where I am :)

You're not wrong ;) But I wouldnt hold your breath on anything else from the fighter collection making its way into dcs anytime soon

Thats true, I dont think there are that many player made missions for it when I looked when I first got it

Nice idea for combat servers. If its formation work of general free flight bear in mind that the Virtual Aerobatics server is 64 slot, has its own ts and has 18 Mustangs to chose from :) But for combat its a start :) Pman

What you may find is that with the release of Fw190 (next year I would bet) there is more likely to be the will for someone to pay for a dedicated server Dont forget Rock used to host aerobatic servers for nearly a year before we started Virtual Aerobatics, and then it was only up 2-3 afternoons a week Pman

Hi Guys, I have been asked this many times with regard to including weapons on our server. Let me claify a few things. Our server is a true dedicated hosted in a data centre and as best we can its up 24/7, total downtime in the past 3 months aside from maintenance is around 1% We do not allow weapons of any kind on the server and people frequently get banned for testing us on that policy. It is a strict zero tolerance on it. This will not change. I gave the OP an idea of the costs involved to get at least the hardware in place to try it at home, but being brutally honest there is no way to host a combat server at home with less then a 50mb upload or 4mb per second true speed. Any less then that and you are confined to a small server, which I believe defeats the objective of it. Combat is not one of our objectives at Virtual Aerobatics so we will not including any zones or areas for combat on our missions/server. I am sorry that you guys do not have a place to go and do what you do, but we will not help in this as it will be too disruptive to our pilots and to be quite frank I have no interest in combat in the P51. I've given the OP what he needs info wise if he wants to foot the bill for a server, he will need to edit a fair bit to get it working well but it is do-able. Good Luck and I hope you find a solution Pman Virtual Aerobatics Server Owner.

I can only comment on the Virtual Aerobatics server but hosting it at home costs bundles with a high speed throttleless connection. Hosting it in a decent dedicated rack is even more expensive. Its not a cheap option to host a dedicated server capable of hosting more then 4-5 players Pman

Nah not really, Stock car racing isnt my thing. Some would say that it shows a pilots real skill as the machine is the same, I still think its very bland though. Skill or not Pman

I think there maybe some interest in a server, for me personally I dont find it much fun stang on stang. Once the Fw190 arrives maybe but for now its too mundane for me Just be aware that the upload for a dedicated server is quite high so bear that in mind if you decide to try a dedicated machine Pman

That was because the track that was played in the demo was recorded in a prior version, they changed the FM and so the track was no longer accurate. Had nothing to do with it being "wrong"
-
Thats a reasonable workaround however tbh its not worth me looking at the possibility of a change until the timer restart is implimented without me having to edit my missions etc. Adding additional code to them is needless. Will look again at 7.1 then maybe I'll do a test on the Virtual Aerobatics Server Pman

why? Thats how the real aircraft is....

Hi Speed, Yeah we are running a customised version of Servman at the moment, took abit of work but its mainly working how we need it too now, its just a pain having to keep updating it all the time ;) Re the motd, I am not advocating it one way or the other, but anyone that has enough knowledge to deploy and utilise slmod will soon come to realise that it is removable, I dont think if I ran a normal combat server I would remove it mind. For our use if I was to use slmod on it I would remove some of it as things like stat tracking on a strict non combat server is something most of our pilots would not be worried about tbh as aside from flying hours there is nothing to track :p As there is no "objective" in our mission it has to be able to restart on a timer as its pretty much impossible to fly formation at night in a Mustang ;) so for us at least its a necessity, but in general no I dont think another version of Servman is needed now things like motd are in slmod, but as I said we need a mission restart timer for our server to work All the best Pman

Its perfectly do able to take the stang off with no rudder trim for the take off, its just abit more work as the tail lifts and upon the initial climb out. If you are flying a light and clean aircraft I would try taking off with much lower settings and you will be surprised how smooth if can go up. Even down at say 2400rpm and 35" of pressure. If you want a rough take off try 100% fuel with tanks and some rockets to boot ;) but on a more serious not dont try and force the aircraft into the air, it will head skywards easily if you can control the throttle correctly. Hiya, Shahdoh is working on a new course but it needs some coding work to allow multiple aircraft to go through the course at once. Its a WIP at the moment, although we have flown the path of the new course a couple of times. The Tbilisi course is finished but its only really viable for Mustangs which obviously limits our pilots so we have elected not to put that on the server. As the server is mainly for aerobatics with the course as a side event we cant have 2 courses on the server at the same time. As it simply provides too many messages etc on the server. Pman

For what its worth here is my experience, although its all based on flying formation aerobatics. For loops, Rolls etc Max constant (45", 2700rpm) is used all the time, when travelling its usually 2400rpm and 35" of pressure. For landing if you observe standard circuit patterns its quite easy to get the speed down in time, Mine is normally something like this Assuming Im running on runway heading at circa 320mph, Set throttle and RPM to 2400RPM and 35", pull up and break right 90degrees, then start downwind leg, half way through down wind speed should be dropping between 180-220 after the climb out for the break. Drop flaps all the way and drop the landing gear, this will both increase lift and slow the aircraft down further, open the coolers and the rads to cool the engine. Turn base as you go past the threshold, then do a relatively steep turn in for finals keeping an eye on the airspeed as its easy to drop below 100knts. Bank in for touch down around 90-110knts. hth

oh nice Dell, I will watch that keenly later :D Dr, if you send me a pm with the email / user name you want to use I will look into it Pman

Trying to learn to fly this thing- Is it really possible?

look forward to seeing you there mate ;) Ya know where I am if you need me :) -

Hiya, Handling the Mustang is an art that takes time to master, it really is a different beast to the other aircraft. Come join us in the Virtual Aerobatics server, especially helpful if you can be in teamspeak as it makes it easier for us to help you I dont fly combat in it as the game is simply too simple in combat terms (P51 vs P51 is just boring) but that said I do alot of aerobatics and generally dont have a problem with the correct settings and technique Pman
