I use the X52 Pro and so do the other display pilots I fly with in the Mustang Pman

Just for clarity we were using Saitek Pro Flight pedals

Just a tid bit of info, At legends this week we had the Real Horsemen come and fly DCS with us, including taxi'ing round an airfield, They said that it was so so close to being the same handling as the real thing that bar sitting in one it wasnt going to get much closer. Personally I have never had any problems taxi'ing now that I have rudder pedals but hey ho. Thought you might appreciate knowing what 2 real Mustang Pilots said about it, We also had Steve Hinton Jnr flying it as well and he seemed to think it was as good as you can get in a sim Pman

This that I have highlighted matches what those 2 pilots at Legends told me, that 500ft was perfectly safe although a little bumpy ride wise but no VRS with 28-30psi If you do that in the sim you go into VRS Which either means the sim is wrong or those guys died 20 years ago. Hard to argue with 2 guys who have that much experience tbh But as I said, its in beta and no doubt belsimtek are aware of the problem

I dont know if it helps, but at Legends we had 2 pilots from the Italian airforce try out the Huey and they said that the sim was very good except for the entry into VRS Now I know this is a beta etc but I can only go on what they said, they had over 5000 hours logged in the Huey. They both had 2 goes at landing the Huey and on all 4 attempts they entered VRS. The main thing they said was that they have set settings for an approach and when they used them they entered VRS when outside of the VRS envelope. They laughed and said if that was how it really works they would have been dead 20 years ago I am sure belsimtek have more data and are aware that for the moment its wrong so there will be an update in works

Given the choice for convenience I would run a windows one as our dedicated machine runs windows anyway. It would be alot of mucking about to change everything over to linux with little / no pay off

DCS UH-1 Huey Multiplayer - Live Recorded - Mass Flight
Pman replied to justoc's topic in Screenshots and Videos
Its great to see these flights on the server, currently 14 Hueys up for grabs :) Pman -
I've pledged my $50 Looking forward to getting stuck into this. Every project has to start somewhere and although Kinny doesnt have experience with DCS its not their first foray into the sim world. I'll give him a chance :) Pman

I had considered it but its the cost of it that perturbs me I've done some Mustang A2G combat but not really looked at the A2A stuff till a flyable Fw190 is around :) Pman

Until they start shooting back....

Virtual Blue Angels: EFM Minimum Radius Turn

Looks really nice Aaron, If only I was in the right TZ mate Pman -
Generally with my formation flying I set my manifold as close to the leader as I can and then work the manifold to maintain position along with cheating turns etc to bring position back, there is some moving of the manifold pressure needed as its impossible to stay on wing with no movement of the throttle at all. hth Pman

When we are in formation we wont even consider a loop below 320mph Depending on how well trimmed you are at entry speed will determine how much rudder you need to keep it straight, pulling a loop is easy, pulling a straight loop not so much
-
To get a straight loop in the stang you will need a good turn of speed leading into it and a thump of right rudder and some left stick to correct, done correctly you come out perfectly straight
-
Categorically not true as I do it this way every time I start the Mustang, You just dont have the knack for it yet Pman
-
The manual is technically correct, in a real P51 you wouldnt do the mags before using the starter but in the sim there is no real difference as fatigue is not measured over a period of time
-
Spot on, to make taxing easier do not unlock the tail wheel

DCS UH-1 Huey Multiplayer - Live Recorded - Mass Flight

That is very cool, That is exactly why I love running this server seeing stuff like this. I have linked your vid on our facebook page as tbh it has made me smile big time :) Pman -
Still got this? Pm me if you have Pman
-
Yes it will have been, as will the other 2 modules they announced. However I wouldnt expect to see the F18C until the spring in Beta at the earliest Pman

I cant speak about combat in the stang as my combat is limited to a few ground strafing runs when I have been offline. However I can comment on aerobatics and formation flying and I can tell you now that with the exception of one pilot, all of the leading formation pilots I have flown with or spoken to use pedals as it does give you higher degrees of precision Moving from a twist stick to pedals I will also say that it does. Having pedals does mean that you are able to make more precise control inputs. For example its 10x easier to give right rudder (or left in my case!) during a loop in the stang while left aileron and back stick with rudder pedals then without them. Trying to give accurate inputs with a twist stick I would say is almost impossible bar one pilot I know Pman

Yeah there are few places for combat, We have alot of Mustangs on the Virtual Aerobatic server, if your looking for a freeflight, formation or aero work then we are always busy and there is normally someone around to help should you need or want it. If you are after combat then I'd say keen an eye on Merlins thread

You should see how I land the stang, I turn base before I even go past the runway on downwind, turn in and im over the numbers before I level out for touch down :joystick:
-
Thats true, but the FSX A2A handles like a tonka toy when airborne compared to the DCS one ;)
-
I found having pedals made the experience much more controllable for me I wouldnt want to fly without pedals now
