  1. Is this with an analogue throttle? Digitally, I do it with my thrustmaster and it works superbly so you must mean a twist analogue throttle on your collective...?
  2. Swivel chairs are bad for rudders. I am probably a glutton for punishment as I like a solid 4 legged chair and the hard physical work required to check my 6 in VR. I just need to keep my weight low so I can get my noggin into the 3/4 view.... phew those kidneys are hurting especially as Christmas gets closer and I am starting to dip into my chocolate, alcohol and nut Christmas stash. Regardless of the blurry edges, just "being in the airframe" and "in the DCS world" becomes something very special in VR that I never got with track IR, it hinted at it, but never delivered. It took me a couple of months to get used to the problems with VR in its current state. But once I had excepted them, I will never go back. For me it is year Zero for sims, I am right back where I started 30 years ago and the push for perfection has started all over again.... I am ready for the push. I currently have a G1, G2 is on order. So what you are upset with, will be a very welcome small refinement of what I already have.
  3. I also went for the new hand controllers with my G2 pre order...... I am still waiting patiently for their arrival.
  4. I think the user Speed-of-Heat has some nice links to his VR setup at the bottom of his posts, but I cannot see these on PC only on my mobile. He may still have the reverb G1 but the resolution is the same as the G2, so technically it should run the same and for sure will offer a good starting point.
  5. We are all a very very long way from "maxing out" all settings! All of us, no matter what is said. I only have the older G1 but the G2 should hopefully be with me by the 10th of December.
  6. Try this book by Yefim Gordon & Dmitriy Komissarov, Mil MI-24 Hind attack Helicopter (ISBN 1-84037-238-9) Take the cold war guess work out of the equation. For sure the Hind will have some traits of the MI-8, perhaps very fast VRS when trying to get into a hover far too quickly. But the Hind will Hover... it is almost crazy to suggest a helicopter will not.
  7. Regarding the Multi-crew function, I agree with you guys that Multi-crew would be great. It should theoretically be easier to implement as there are 2 distinct cockpits that will not allow co-pilot and pilot to cross share one control panel as in the Gazelle.... which causes real problems in multiplayer with the gazelle. Also coming into attack with a pair of hinds and heavily weaponized MI-8s would be superb if the co-pilot could call out the range over the radio for increasing the accuracy of the MI-8s rocket delivery. But if it is not there on delivery.... I will be wheels up and transitioning within minutes of release! My VR skull rotating and admiring that perfect ED VR cockpit that surrounds me... and there I will be, sitting at the back of the bus, all armoured, solid and safe feeling. A New DCS heavy weight attack chopper..... I will be there!
  8. Yeah the VR lens optician is an additional cost I have factored in.... it would have been a nice surprise if the old ones fit.... but alas no. looking forward to your reviews of the G2. I expect better head tracking and comfort, but how is the fps?... the same... a little better? Sweet spot size, is it noticeable? I bought it for the sweet spot! with the off ears speakers I guess you can hear your companion talking to you?.... not good I am sure!
  9. It got me last year with the G1 and my new computer, G1 arrived before christmas, computer arrived mid way thorough January the following year!!!!!..... GRRRRR!
  10. Ed and Belsimtek know where multi-crew is right now, they do not dick around with stuff like this. But yes, a second pair of eyes and halving the workload with real human beings would be just superb. Once ED achieve true coms in DCS, I think true natural talk between co-pilot and pilot will promote 2 person modules.... all other single pilot air frames will require real radio communication and human interaction to enable it.
  11. Unless the engine modelling has changed since 1 or 2 years ago, I popped an MI-8 engine hovering hot and high in Nevada. The engine went down with a fabulous and very satisfying bang! 40 - 45 degs centigrade FAT. I also had the left egt roll back the sharks left engine on me whilst hunting targets hovering hot and high in the mountains of Nevada. Accelerating down the safe side of the mountain increased air flow through the engine and allowed the engine to rev up again, I allowed a few minutes of forward flight to cool the engines which allowed me a few minutes of hover attack to take out 2 or 3 enemy units before I needed to repeat engine cooling. It was a fabulous rinse and repeat exercise..... at least to me. The Nevada map is one of the greatest maps in DCS An ED Afghanistan Map would be a dream for me.
  12. The MI-8 is Belsimtek's love song to the entire community. Nothing they produced is as complete and perfect.
  13. If it is any consolation, I ordered late.... I ordered in September so I am right at the bottom of the first wave.... so upsetting! I have booked 1 month off over Christmas for the the Hind (first reason) and the G2 (second reason). probably neither will come this year for me. But as I have achieved solid overtime throughout covid for each and every month, I will enjoy the down time with DCS regardless... it is just a shame it will not be with a new chopper.
  14. No I think multi crew is not so important with the P. I believe it drove Belsimteks choice between the V and P. Now that we are getting the P, multicrew is not that important. Door gunners are a must here, P or V... they are a must! no matter what the argument..... door gunners set this bullying thug apart from the others.
  15. Europe is the poor relation in everything computer..... I mean ..... software. No I mean both.
  16. I have a sub folder in the same directory that the fxo and metashaders are found,I rename the fxo and metashader files with a number and then move it to the sub folder (backup just in case there are problems). then when I start DCS it recreates new fxo and metashader files.
  17. At first I thought the performance was about the same if not a little worse. I deleted the fxo and metashaders files and yes, all maps perform in a very superior manner..... miracle no but for sure better. All maps including the channel have improved. Syria is also better but this map is less responsive than ED maps. ED maps increase fps as you drop your chopper lower and can only view what surrounds you (View restricted by buildings towering around you or trees)... thus less rendering. The Syria map reacts less... if at all.. to low level flight that reduces the need for rendering longer range visibility.
  18. It depends on your refresh rate. Generally 45 fps fixed gives good results except for certain cloud formations, I certainly notice this on the aerobatics server in certain congitions. 60 fps always gave constant ground, shadow, object and cloud errors when drawing objects at a distance comparing left and right eyes (I should note that I have not been above 45 fps for half of this year). 60 fps is the dream for me but is so bugged in so many ways I am happy to stay away. 90 fps is for the dreamers.
  19. Hi orcrist, http://systemactive.co.uk/ they seem to have the first distribution rights in the UK. I ordered somewhat late so I am hoping for an end of November delivery.
  20. 49 days. I will count those days minute by minute, the jet boys will get some real spoiling in 49 days. Hell! We may even see a new WWII module in 49 days!
  21. For UK guys, I got this email; We had a meeting with HP today (November 10th, 2020) and were told shipment from factory to the UK of first pre-orders will begin November 13th , 2020. Once we have proof units have left the factory for shipment to the UK we will provide our customers with an update on numbers and date of delivery to them. Subject to change I am sure.
  22. Very interesting. I wonder if the hind has this too? Mi-8 just keeps giving.
  23. Although Belsimtek brought out the MI-8 with very little apart from a great flight model. it would be a shame to see 2020 go by with no new choppers, a bit like 2019.... and 2018, oh and don't forget 2017. I think 2016 was our last year for a chopper release was it not?
