  1. Generally I always use the pitch stab only and the rest only if flying long distances and at altitude. But I will give the pitch trim a go for sure.
  2. Yes this is true. I never really thought of using the stabiliser/autopilot dials to trim. The MI-8's small throw of the stick from hover to full speed allows the click trim system to work very well indeed and I was always very happy with that. But you are right, it could be put on our Hotas..... I might see how that works this weekend.
  3. Re-watching Wags fly the hind in Syria just tells me 2 things. 1) I Really am looking forward to the Hind! 2) The Syria map really is superb, I have been spending a lot of air time in DCS Syria and it truly is an excellent map, The DCS engine must be improved to increase performance on this map, especially in VR. Without doubt, Syria is the best map in DCS! The DCS engine must improve to the level of Normandy, The Channel and Syria.... not down grading the maps to the DCS Engine! God I miss ground shadows in VR!
  4. I never noticed that in the manuals or the Sim module! Does the MI-24 have a bleep trim? I would like that very much.
  5. Yeah, I guess it could also be fun without the mast when just flying around for fun.
  6. I have had a few issues recently with G2 going blue screen or just black whilst DCS carries on running in the background. Also noticeable to me is a funny jerky effect with my in goggs VR view, its like my head instantly twitches a few cm to the left or right and then back to where it was. I found not using the full mirror screen on the monitor "Alt enter" cleaned the problem up and then going back to full mirror screen brought the problems back. I wonder if these problems are related
  7. I do not get these sort of cheats when reality is starting to become a truth for us simmers. Perhaps it is a gamers thing, something I am very happy to say goodbye to. For some reason I like it hard, I do not know why, I just like to work the weapon.... it just feels more right to me as I swing my skull in the VR. My idea of cheating is to create a real pit with real grab handles to aid pulling my fat arse around to check my six. Its me isn't it.... I am a wrong one. Never would I install this sh£t on my system!
  8. The KA-50 is a very good weapon system. The airframe is agile, manoeuvrable, has awe inspiring rudder authority and packs a massive punch. The full calibre 30mm Kannon and hyper ballistic missiles are the icing on the cake. An automated self defensive system like president s may not be perfect but I think it will give this chopper a good boost in the right direction. BS3 will go a long way to balancing Red and blue choppers.... not a perfect balance but not bad. But for sure doing nothing with the KA-50 will just tip the balance massively in favour of Bluefor and I can find no validity in that argument.... no validity what so ever! when I look at modern jets in DCS, I think it is a joke how imbalanced it is with airframes and weapons. DCS Choppers is something special, it will not be this way! It will be balanced.... like WWII.
  9. Yep, this year (and perhaps into early next year), DCS is going to see 3 choppers that are in my top 5 must have choppers..... Superb!
  10. There is enough of the community to make it a blow by blow 24/7, month by month, year by year nightmare for the production team. And all PC are doing is having a go.
  11. Yeah and it is a good platform for coming sideways Gatling gun blazing.
  12. I think they are delaying for 2.7 release..... like everyone else including ED. I also think that they will do everything possible to ensure they have a perfect model, possibly even too perfect. I guess Polychops are quite happy not to see the viscous nasty side of the DCS community again.
  13. As long as we have a correct spool up vid (without the prechecks please) before release... then we are off to a good start.
  14. My man. Graphics and bugs is all we need. I very seriously doubt we will ever get another MI-8 in DCS so keeping this girl current is essential, same for the Huey UH-1H. All other variants of the Huey or MI-8 are just new modules that need to be bought at full price in my book. I reckon the Huey's popularity could make this viable, but probably not the MI-8 (we are very lucky to have her).
  15. I am Hoping to grind my way through houses with these dual 30 mils..... not Apache intermediate AK-47 style 30 mike mikes mind. MI-24P Proper high rate of fire Kannon 30 mike mikes..... like the Ka-50.
  16. Now that we have the Apache coming, BS3 is even more important. Jets are all over the place in DCS, it is all USA or Europe.... nothing redfor.... no balance. At least in choppers we have a chance of achieving some what of a balance..... BS3 is a critical counter balance to the Apache which will be further weighted in Redfor's favour by the Hind. BS3 is simply a way of achieving this counterbalance quickly and efficiently. Once the Apache's longbow comes online.... lets see what way the dice roll. Anything else is simply an error in the way you are thinking.... it leads to imbalance which offers the DCS chopper community nothing at all. perhaps this is the way some like it, but not me.
  17. ED knows what it is doing, Radar will come but it will take time. Off course in the radar less state, I would not mind a Gazelle escorting me... just for those tricky moments where popping up is suicide.
  18. Welcome home mate. We are going to experience a very very complex airframe, tight to the ground and in a true Peer to Peer combat arena.... something that has never been done in real life. It is not what the military can offer us that matters.... but what we can offer the military. I can not wait!
  19. Yep, an Afghanistan map would be a good challenge for us chopper pilots. It would also be good for comparing the MI-24 and Apache when combating non missile armed insurgence. You can imagine how the introduction of the stinger in the 80s Afghan war really gave the Russians a headache.
  20. For me, It will be on in the beginning and always off shortly afterwards.... Come the Zombie apocalypse, it sure would not hurt to know how to do it when I stumble across an abandoned Apache.
  21. Yeah it will be exactly that TZeer. The Radar will probably take a while before we get it, should help in learning such a complex machine.
  22. I hope so too that no Radar is only EA. Good to see those images show a nice used and worn cockpit.
  23. I reckon I will learn to pull this war bird into an attack position in amongst a dense city, 10 metres off the floor, 3 or 4 meters clearance from the surrounding buildings and at the same time I will be working the pit to configure the weapon to my required attack mode for the enemy I am hunting. I will pull her into a hover and quickly start to pop up for a weapon release..... In my solid fixed gaming chair, my skull and body will be rotating and swivelling hard the entire time in VR.. checking tail and rotor clearance as I ascend and rotate the airframe to face a pre saved target position. For a chopper pilot it is simply a challenge that will be overcome and learnt like second nature...... To a non chopper pilot it is all but impossible. It is all in the language. looking forward to Hell Fire ripple fire..... all 16 of them!
  24. Depends on your preference and the stats of your MK1s. I like DCS IPD set to 55 as it just seems to scale everything about right for me. look down depth is problematic in VR I think.... height above ground and the depth into the pit.
  25. Virtual sticks will never replace a good Hotas in my pit. Some good accurate, lightweight, comfortable virtual gloves for working the rest of the pit is all I need.... which will probably also fulfil everyone's needs.
