It's a third party chinese module. What's not to trust? You must be another Jeff hater. /s -
There is an American saying: "If it ain't broke..."

F-14 is the strongest BVR fighter in DCS thanks to its 3rd party missiles. WVR it is still very dangerous. Mig-29 vs F14 is not competitive.

Call me crazy, but doesn't this EM chart show 9g at 430 knots at sea level, with about 23deg/s sustained turn? (this is the ps = 0 line) redacted Oh boy, our Viper would be a dogfighting monster then. I hope ED continues to work on the flight model. -

I just tested. At 450knots in DCS you can sustain ~7.5g, so I was wrong. Have to get up to 500 knots to hold almost 9g. This was at sea level with default weather on Caucasus map. ---------------------- At 450 knots Hornet holds ~8g, with the paddle (get your pitchforks), so that is the issue right there. The F-18 is beating the F-16 at its own game. A few others sustained at ~100ft asl @ [450knots, 500knots] F-18: 8.0g, 9.0g F-16: 7.5g, 9.0g F-15: 7.1g, 8.0g M2K: 6.9g, 8.0g -

You can hold both until you run out of fuel or blackout. -

Speculating... At 360 knots and 7.5g you get about the same turnrate as 430 knots and 9g, plus the advantage of a smaller turning circle. The higher aspect ratio of the Hornet's wings is suited for those slower airspeeds. -
If you were to choose between Flanker and Eagle...

Agree. It gets overlooked, but the Soviet era RWR do not afford the situational awareness of their western contemporaries. That said, I voted Su-27. :) -
You need to set up defensive SAMs around the SA-10.

All that finger pointing at the Hornet and its paddle. It has nothing on the F-15. Read 'em and weep. -
I can tell you've put a lot of work into this map. Tried it out (by myself) and it is a pretty lonely experience because the map needs dozens of people to feel "alive." It looks like you have Moose, Mist, slotblocker, and maybe some other scripts at work. When I went to choose an aircraft it was like this: client slot not available... client slot not available... client slot not available... etc. A little bit more info in the briefing could be helpful maybe. I always appreciate it when someone makes an effort to add some images to the briefing. Are you using MOOSE to control the AI interceptors? They were completely passive when I tried it. Framerates were good and I would love to try this map with more people. ----- Oh, and some waypoints could be helpful :)

Yes, I know, I've heard all about it. Other F-16Cs can carry it; I want a FrankenViper. ;) -
We already have that.

True, IR missiles are fun, and the Viper excels with them. Yes, that is why I want the F-16 to be able to employ the Sparrow (so sue me). -
Educational and a good reminder not to just leave on ECM.

And I find all of the spamraam servers pretty boring. Setting up grinds with volleys of 120s is realistic but snooze-inducing. -
The issue is that ED would not make a module with only (a couple) SME as sources. 3rd party devs will, apparently, especially if the module will be a hot seller.

@skyblazer, this thread is about guns only combat per the OP flying on just dogfight. Anyway, it is a dynamic thing and you always adjust based on what the other guy is doing. 90% will just attempt pure pursuit, and the ones who don't can be countered in other ways. :) -

Putting the FM discussion aside, my experience is that the DCS F-16 only has the advantage against the Hornet at 450 knots and above. Take the fight uphill in a climbing spiral at 480-500 kts (~8-9g) and there is no way he can follow. This works pretty well against the Mirage, too. Once you get above him you should win. Don't attempt this against the F-14 or F-15. -
You are right. I was thinking of this monstrosity:

I have no illusions about why this map is slow to finish... It is free.:D
