Got it!! Have to join the chorus of those who have finally resolved the issues. For me, I had to re-download the X64 and x86 Redis. Since they were already installed on my system, it went through a "repair" and now everything appears to be working just fine. Ah the little frustrations that come with modern technology.:music_whistling:

It's a mystery! Like you I can only run the DCSW Open Beta via the launcher in the bin file. I currently have both X64 AND X86 installed and it made no difference as regards my inability to run the Beta from the original desktop icon, or any contained within the Beta folder other than the bin folder.
-
I have installed both the MS VC++ Redistributable for VS2012 update 4 and cannot start DCSW Beta from the icon that remained after the update. I can only open and run the sim via the Launcher from the bin folder, as is the case with so many. Await an answer from ED.

DCS World 1.2.15 Release Build Discussion
Chief1942 replied to *Rage*'s topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
Okay, after reading others similar issues I finally seem to have the Open Beta working with all my modules. I had to use the "Launcher" icon located in the bin folder of DCSW Open beta install. Seems it now works. Just my opinion... Starforce sucks! -
DCS World 1.2.15 Release Build Discussion
Chief1942 replied to *Rage*'s topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
Installed new Open Beta update. It opened without the Mig-21. Did the restart after uninstalling the Mig-21 in the Module manager. Restarted, didn't work. Did a DCSW Beta repair. Now it won't start at all. I get "Application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b). Click OK to close application. Not sure where to go from here. -
Upgrade a AMD Phenom II X4 965 to i5 4690K ?
Chief1942 replied to ANGST's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Went from AMD Phenom II to Intel I-5 4680K based on all I had read here on these forums about DCSW favoring Intel. It was a noticeable upgrade. You will not regret the move. -
Went back and checked both installs (regular and Beta), issue is still there.
-
It's ok(fixed) in the "Beta" install, but still there in the regular install.

I can wait... Would be nice to know what's happening re: A-4 Skyhawk, but as with DCSW 2.0. I suppose we will hear something when the developer is ready to let us in on the goings on.

Yep, a "Winger"! It's okay, someone had to do it and the Navy really prefers "boats":smilewink: Semper Fi!

Here's an FJ-4 This is the pic I gave eddie to work with. Somewhere in that group is a young 18 year old Marine who is now 72:cry: Many differences between this bird and the F-86F Belsimtek gave us, but they are "close enough" for these old eyes.:music_whistling:

F-18 grip, WARTHOG compatible
Chief1942 replied to hegykc's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
hegyck, I this something you are doing as a "side job" or do you plan on getting into these things full time? It matters as wouldn't want to make a commitment and then have possible replacement parts to suddenly dry up. As we've all seen with Thrustmaster, things can change over time. Just asking. PS Either way, you are most definitely going to get into my wallet:D -
I have mine! If only we can get a tailhook! crazyeddie did the skin for me as it reflects the unit I was first with in my Marine Corps days.

Hey, it's called DCS Wishlist. Wish for the moon if you like, but ultimately ED will decide as it is THEIR business, and so far they have not disappointed me.

Button Box in the making Derek Spears Design
Chief1942 replied to Dusty Rhodes's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Got your box yet? Got mine today:thumbup: and am trying to determine just which functions I can assign to the "box" based on the various a/c modules:joystick:. Have you had an opportunity to get yours up and running, and if so, what type of use did you make of the rotaries? :dunno: -
Sith, Recently went down that road you are on. I went with an ASUS Z97A MB, Intel i5 4690K, 16 GB memory, and two GTX780-DC2 cards in SLI. DCSW runs great with this setup :thumbup:and I have very little overclock on the CPU and none on the GPU's (yet). Both the MB and the processor are reasonably priced currently but one would probably be better off investing in the newer GTX 970 single card approach due to it's fine features. I am anticipating that DCSW 2.0 makes better use of SLI, the only reason I went with those two cards I use. And since they are "older" tech, they are not as expensive. $$$$ is always an issue with most of us.:music_whistling: I supposed we can dream of our ultimate machine if that were not the case, but alas.
