  1. I hear ya! "Things we do to further the immersion in simming" Can we have a big "AMEN" on that!:music_whistling:
  2. DCS can be an expensivee past time! Not sure how my tests will work for others once the Acer arrives as I have a new NVIDIA GTX Titan X on the way as well:cheer3nc:. Should be pretty much ready for DCS 2.0 now!:joystick:
  3. Certainly cannot speak for Belsimtek or ED, but I suspect the closest you are going to get to an FJ Fury is the skins that CrazyEddie did for us using the F-86. Differences? As many as there were between the real aircraft, but close enough for someone who simply wants their memory jogged regarding the Furys.
  4. Just pulled the trigger on the Acer XB280HK bprz 4k with Gsync monitor. Once I've got it and had a chance to get it up and running, I'll provide my impressions. Should be about 4-5 days.
  5. Must be something else also Okay, added the underscore to the description.lua of the VMA-343 a/c and it worked fine. When I did the same to another skin (VMA-334) this is what I get. Am also getting double roundels on the wings and another USAF on the wings of Mig Mad Marine and Father Dan, as well as the one in the enclosed pic. Must be a "decal" issue" and therefore I am one lost puppy when it comes to that.
  6. Is that the fix? Skate, Here is the description.lua for the skin CrazyEddie did for me. Is all I need to do is add the "underscore" to those old description.luas? Thanks. description.lua
  7. Take your time and do it right. It reflects back on you, you are in the cat bird's seat. Like ED with DCS 2.0, don't let those that are impatient push the envelope and get you to release something that does not meet YOUR standards. Best of luck with your undertaking. Hope you get filthy rich from all your work.
  8. Whoops! Did something change with the latest update (1.2.16.37730)? Suddenly the skins Eddie made me have other overlays on them. Tried everything from a DCS Repair to moving the "liveries" between the Bazar folder, to the Core Mods folder and all. Nothing works. It seems the other planes work fine. Puzzled.
  9. Two Weeks! Can't believe someone didn't beat me to that:smilewink:
  10. The best part...... Rim Country.:D
  11. Semper Fi that , Sir!!
  12. Thanks Flagrum, I actually do ask regarding those things I can wrap my head around, But when guys start talking about .lua this and that my eyes roll faster than an F-15. My wife says that the learning challenges in this past time exercises my brain so she sees it as a good thing and never is critical of the amount of time I spend enjoying it. I have purchased some modules simply to support ED but haven't really gotten comfortable with any one airframe yet to the point I get bored and want to try something new. Heck, it would take me a whole semester to just assimilate all the manuals out there on the P-51 and the F-86. It is a real hoot and I so enjoy it.
  13. Thanks for that! No, I suspect there are a few of us, but now that we tend to being a bit slower, it's tough to keep up with these "techy" whiz kids:music_whistling: Doesn't mean I ain't giving it my best;) Heck, most of the time I can't even figure out what the heck they are talking about:huh: Since I don't want to appear any more lost on some topics than I actually am, I tend NOT to ask them to "can you 'splain that so an old fart can understand it".:helpsmilie:
  14. Okay, a bit of a different approach here on this forum. I know that some are having various problems with the different modules, some "beta" some final release, and I have had such issues myself, usually right after an update. But currently all my modules are working fine based on their development cycle. I am enjoying every one of these offerings from ED and also all the mods of those "modders" out there that have given freely of their time and skills to make the immersion even better. You know who you are. Just so you know, at age 72 I can't even dream about really doing what ED and DSCW permits me in the comfort of my home sitting at my computer. The only way I felt I could show my appreciation for my favorite pastime, is via a post such as this and simply say Thank You all!
  15. Starway, In the one picture, are those A-4E's I see? If so, are they a part of DCS Vietnam?
  16. Recall when I got my Crosswinds, Milan asked if I was really satisfied, that I should spread the word since he could stand the exposure.:helpsmilie: I assume he asked that of all his customers. Well Milan, we have :thumbup:and now it is up to you to keep up with the demand my friend.:smilewink: Success is often a double edged sword.:music_whistling:
  17. I know it can be frustrating waiting for a new hardware addition to our favorite past time, but I think those that have been fortunate to have already received their Crosswinds will tell you that the wait, however long, is worth it. Milan is a straight up guy and very conscious of the desire for his product. Being a "simmer" himself, he is constantly looking at ways of improving them and of course, growing his business. That can and does often create backlog issues. Hang in there!
  18. Still not sure why the anomaly, but I managed to correct the problem by copying the same .miz file from the Open Beta to the regular install and now both a/c taxi to the runway and takeoff. Since I don't have a clue as to how to open .miz files I haven't been able to compare the two and locate the reason that the one a/c simply starts taxiing and the stops short of the taxiway and sits there.
  19. Decided to make sure the Mig-21bis was working okay after some of the small issues that came with the update.:music_whistling: When I do the Cold Start at Nalchick, there are two other Migs on the flight line. (106 & 107) . One moves right out and goes to the active runway and takes off. The other is simply sitting there without his engine started and once I have started my a/c and received permission to taxi to the active runway, I cannot get past this "cold" aircraft. ATC gives me (105) a "hold position" directive and I come to a stop. I sit there until I am too old to ever fly again.:smilewink: I did a search in the forums looking to see if this has been reported already. No joy. How can I get past that other Mig that simply sits on the ramp without violating the ATC commands? I tried changing the SP to WP1 in the Mission editor for those other two a/c but the issue persists. Any ideas.:helpsmilie:
  20. Yea Flag, After every update I have to delete the "aircrafts" folder. Like you said, it really makes no difference whether it's there or removed. Perhaps it reappears whenever I do a DCS repair, which happens often after an update. Although with this last update I had to do a repair on the Open Beta install and the "aircrafts" folder was not in there, but definitely in the main DCSW update. Honestly never tried to ascertain just what is placing it back in but now that I'm on to it I will try to determine where it comes from in the future. It's really a non-issue.
  21. Ain't technology grand?:smilewink:
  22. Can be confusing. Yes, that issue has been around for awhile. It is interesting that folder (aircrafts) keeps showing up after an update, yet it hasn't ever shown up in my Open Beta install even with the same updates. My guess is when ED gets time to breathe from all they are currently working on, they will address this issue.:smilewink:
  23. Ahem! Well, for all those who have gained 5-10 FPS with the new update, send them back to me as I know where they came from.:music_whistling:
  24. Was in Fountain Hills two days ago and watched a B-25 Mitchel fly over. I knew there must be an air show in the making somewhere nearby.
  25. No where but up! The best just keeps getting better. Thanks ED!!:worthy:
