I wrote this a while ago and you'll get the gist of what you need to do. https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=2616874&postcount=799

LOL. Had no idea. I thought it was a joke until I googled it. Is the view pretty decent? In the original Vive it was nearly useless. EDIT: just configured it and tried it. Slight lag turning on but very usable. Normally, I just peak under the bridge of my nose, but this gives me more options. Thanks!

For #2, I think this answers the question nicely: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=285493

Can't help with #2, but a few of us purchased our original Reverb from shopblt.com. HP's site/Connection.com is also an option. But at this point who knows what the supply will look like. I preordered on July 1st, and on Aug 12th received the "we're out of stock" message.

What WE can do // Corona COVID-19 Folding @ Home

If you rename the file, move the directory, etc. Acronis freaks out. IIRC, it won't let you do a "browse/scan" to look for the backup set. -
Microsoft Surface for MFD Touch Screen Usage??

The UltraMFCD project is back on from SGT_BAKER. And he's working on a networking capability. Although it may be for Android/IOS only. You could ask him here: https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=4191256&postcount=1 You can also check out Simpit Software. Check out: https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=2990534&postcount=1 -
What WE can do // Corona COVID-19 Folding @ Home
hansangb replied to BitMaster's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Yeah, it's odd that they won't let you scan a directory and "relink" the backup jobs. But I have a dedicated drive so I can keep the filessets in place. -
When you launch, you have to spread the risk through the bundle. Everyone that orders gets a set. Once that's been determined, the company can fine tune the amount needed to fulfill the expected orders for various parts. Clearly, they didn't count on Wuhan virus rearing its head right after the Lunar new year.

Acronis TrueImage works quite well. It's saved me too many times to count. I don't use the CyberBAckup, or continual backup. I have schedule Full BackUps that delete old ones. Also, if you go the Acronis route, go to the Advanced setting and in the Pre/Post backup section, enable the "check the backup after job" (or something like it). Why not spend a little time to validate the backup immediately after creating it! -
Quick way to test is to use the Windows' built in Game Controller app. In Control Panel, search for "joystick" or "game controller" You can choose your throttle, click on Advanced and you'll be able to see Windows registering the movement of the Throttle. See if it looses it's movement. Also, make sure you don't have a curve setup within DCS. That's in in game joystick setting to "deaden" the movement of your joystick.

Could be that people are doing it, w/o posting it here. -
I got you. If you need the attention of ED, it'll be easier if you start making money. Hell, offer a split to incentivize them. But I understand that it's hard to work on code that you're not privy to and vice versa. Meaning it's an uphill to work with independents because of the potential fracturing of the code train. But I wish you all the luck!

Thrustmaster MFDs for Sale (in box)
hansangb replied to Frogfoot Pilot 1977's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
There's a for sale specific thread. You should post there as you'll get more people who may be interested. -
How big is your current monitor? For $200 you're probably looking at 27" or so monitor. Which may or may not be much of an improvement.
-
I don't think I got what you're trying to do regarding freemium and paying ED? Are you trying to incentivize ED into working with you? The other alternative would be to crowdfund it. I find that people tend to say "I support it.." until it's time to pay. By crowdfunding it, it eliminates that possibility. And it doesn't interfere with any "free" models (like limited to one plane??) if you want to go down that road. I'm OK as is with extracting it manually, but I can completely understand why people are clamoring for this. I wish you the best of luck!

Don, before the mission starts (before you hit FLY), I can read the top row POS/INS, UPDT, SCL/40 etc just fine. The left and right are littler harder to read but I can still make them out. The left and right not being *that* clear is the same on my Acer34 Predator monitor. Honestly, the clarity is about the same as my Reverb. Monitor is better, but not by too much. But once the mission starts, the map comes up and everything is washed out. Maybe it's my astigmatism coming into play? But then again, it wasn't like that before. This is on the latest beta.

So here are the settings (all default by the way). As I mentioned, I don't really see glitches or judder. Not in the flight that I mentioned (FA18/PG map, Ready on the ramp Instant action). Also, the WMR screen didn't catch it all, but I have the 60Hz/90Hz setting as "Automatic" which is the default. WMR settings SteamVR GENERAL settings SteamVR Video settings And motion reprojection is commented out
-
Whatever is the default. I'll double check later tonight. But I figured it was off because FPS was going up and down high 50's to 60's etc. In the past, with Rift, ASW/ATW would lock it at 90 or 45. So I was assuming it was off. I'll double check. But I didn't notice any judder or anything.

PointCTRL - Finger Mounted VR Controller
hansangb replied to MilesD's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Yeah, me too. I just updated everything to the latest (KB, DCS etc) and I was getting ready to recalibrate pointctrl. Didn't see the multi monitor issue so MS must have fixed it.- 3421 replies

Spec-ing Out a New System for DCS: F-16C in VR
hansangb replied to AirBeagle's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Check out the INPUT-OUTPUT VR subthread. There is a HP Reverb thread and I just posted my FA18 Instant Action with FPS/performance etc. My hardware is included. But 2080Ti, fastest CPU you can afford, overclock to 5GH, 32GB of 3200MHz or faster RAM. SSD of 1GB, a beefy highly rated power supply. And HP Reverb is currently the best VR in my opinion. Clarity is amazing. XTAL is supposed to be better, but it's about $5,000 to $6,000 so I'm thinking that's out of reach. Do check out the VR subthread. -
There really isn't much to setup. I created a YT vid on how I have WMR and SteamVR setup. My DCS ingame setting is at 1.0. I left Steam Video settings at AUTO rendo etc. Also covered in the video. you can just google for my name/YT, DCS Reverb and it should come up if you need that. I also just posted to Imacken my performance for FA18 instant machine. But I think you're CPU may be a bottleneck.

OK, finally got a chance to try this. I updated SteamVR and Windows, and DCS to the latest as of today. I used the Ready on the Ramp as that used to suck. I took off and flew around downtown at 400-2000ft (mostly 400). With DCS FPS counter, I was in the 60's and high 50's most of the time. It was visually smooth. It's been smooth for me for a very long time now. I saved the JSON file so I can provide the full report if anyone wants it. My HW spec is in the signature. Also, I just realized that I have Process Lasso. I set it to "Game/High" mode and haven't turned it off. Do keep in mind that 1080Ti may have to work hard for 5K+. Have you tried lower FoV and work your way up?

Have you posted your HW spec already?
