The lua above will add the Mk46 Torpedo to the 4 Pylon spots, but they wont drop like air drop torpedo's, they will drop like iron bombs. The closest I ever gor to an air drop weapon was by adding a Russian FAB250 M54-TU, that is an air drop para retard bomb, it looks similar when falling ... but its still a bomb. (If it looks like a bomb and it drops like a bomb you can be pretty certain - its a bomb !!) I also tried to find something that looked similar to a depth charge, so added the FAB-250 - its roughly the same sizer and shape as a Naval Air Drop depth charge, that of course drops like a bomb and goes bang like a bomb, because its a bomb !! The Royal Navy were saying at some point a couple of years ago that they intended to add some kind of AGM weapon to the type but i have never seen one so armed, and I live in an area where I see lots of them. SO - You could try these Pylon settings. (Like I said earlier, I could hardly ever get them to hit a moving target - the game isnt configured for this kind of stuff) Pylons = { pylon(1, 0, -2.500, -0.139, -1.793, { FiZ = 0, use_full_connector_position = true, }, { { CLSID = "DIS_mk46torp" , attach_point_position = {-0.0, -0.126, -0.0} }, { CLSID = "{3C612111-C7AD-476E-8A8E-2485812F4E5C}" }, -- FAB-250/Depth Charge { CLSID = "AGM114x2_OH_58" }, --"AGM-114K * 2" { CLSID = "{FAB-250-M54-TU}",connector = "PYLON_R_OUT_1"}, -- FAB250TU/Air Drop Torpedo } ), pylon(2, 0, -2.500, -0.139, -1.451, { FiZ = 0, use_full_connector_position = true, }, { { CLSID = "DIS_mk46torp" , attach_point_position = {-0.0, -0.126, -0.0} }, { CLSID = "{3C612111-C7AD-476E-8A8E-2485812F4E5C}" }, --FAB-250 { CLSID = "{FAB-250-M54-TU}",connector = "PYLON_R_OUT_1"}, } ), pylon(3, 0, -2.050, -0.139, 1.536, { FiZ = 0, use_full_connector_position = true, }, { { CLSID = "DIS_mk46torp" , attach_point_position = {-0.0, -0.126, -0.0} }, { CLSID = "{3C612111-C7AD-476E-8A8E-2485812F4E5C}" }, --FAB-250 { CLSID = "{FAB-250-M54-TU}",connector = "PYLON_R_OUT_1"}, } ), pylon(4, 1, -2.050, -0.139, 1.878, { FiZ = 0, use_full_connector_position = true, }, { { CLSID = "DIS_mk46torp" , attach_point_position = {-0.0, -0.126, -0.0} }, { CLSID = "{3C612111-C7AD-476E-8A8E-2485812F4E5C}" }, --FAB-250 { CLSID = "AGM114x2_OH_58" }, --"AGM-114K * 2" { CLSID = "{FAB-250-M54-TU}",connector = "PYLON_L_OUT_1"}, } ) },

ADMIRAL189'S CORNER - INCOMING SHIP MODELS

Hmmm - defo not 20 minutes. There is something amiss there. Have you tired any other helo's, what did they do. If its happening all the time whith everything then that might suggest you have a fault in your ship mod, try another download and see if that corrects it. -
There are no updates for this Mod, the original AI only is still all you get, sorry. We have no plans do any other helo's - this was a one off for both of us, a little experiment to see if we could actually make it work. Neither of us make cockpits or anything like that. If somebody created a Crowsnest Mod from scratch I could find a way to add that to the side of the heo as a weapon add on (perhaps), or something like that. There are no weapon add ons to make it an ASW mod, ED is not configured to be able to drop air drop torpedos from helo's, you can add any bomb you want, or even a type 45 torpedo, but they will only drop like bombs. (And always miss - I have tried it !!)

andy - Just tried it with the Sea King and Beldins revised flight deck data - it works fine. Are you giving it enough time to do the manouver - it hangs around a little bit off the side whilst they line up the speed and height before moving across the deck to land, that seems about the right rate from what I remember so the model is working pretty accurately i think. -

Works perfectly here. I need to correct the landing spots if I can work out how to do it - it's landing on the wrong side of the flight deck. !! -
Paint.net - its free and very good if a little basic. I have been using PhotoImpact10 for many years, very limited in size of texture files you can work on but it has everything and its very user friendly Gimp - as Morpheus suggest - excellent, and also free versions available.

Admiral - Cover the weapons on deck ?? Nobody wants Rusty missiles !! -
Delete the broken file and run a repair, that should fix it.
-
I saw that connectior thing you mention Joey, none of my mods have a stack connector so I figured that would not work anyway, which made me ask the question above about the code - I feel pretty sure they have changed something Iin the code, or elsewhere, but I cant figure out how to mkake it work. THEY will have to tell us HOW I think !!

AI Seaking mod (SH-3H / Mk.48)
crazyeddie replied to Eight Ball's topic in Static/AI Mods for DCS World
You should be able to place it anywhere you want on the deck, are you sure you are putting it down as a structure, sitting in the middle it sound s as if its placed as a flyable. (If you place it in the middle over the ships icon thats where it will appear in the game !!) Little Bridge Symbol on the left - Helicopters - Place the Helo - pick the one you want from the drop downs. Link it. Pick the Livery. -

The LST's are all gone from the UK now - 1 Aussia copy in Australia and another ex Brit in Brazil. The rest went to scrap I think. The embarked force mess decks on those boats were dreadful, horrible bunks, dodgy air conditioning and really crappy mess rec spaces - a long trip could be a nightmare if they were packed. AND, flat bottoms, so they bounced around - it was like living in a skip. -

This a very common problem on imported models. You get extreme versions of it on some models, this is an example of the Garcia which I repainted, the bows are just as bad. From a distance its hardly noticeable but close up it looks quite weird. Hawkeye explained it to me once, he said its caused in 3dmax where the model isnt smoothed, or rounded, before its exported. I cant recollect the exact way he described it but he did fix a couple of mods were doing at the time where this occurred. -
I have tried this with various ships and none of then show any smoke from the stack.
-
Has something else changed, in the code perhaps, I cant see it working. Is this code correct ? GT.exhaust = { [1] = { size = 0.655 , pos = {-32, 26, 0} }, }

AI Seaking mod (SH-3H / Mk.48)
crazyeddie replied to Eight Ball's topic in Static/AI Mods for DCS World
Yep, thats it. Make sure you get the link number right and it should work. I dont know about other models though, there could be issues with the ships collision shells etc, that caused problems on some ship models with flight decks. -

The Royal Navy used to paint their civilian owned (P&O) Trooping Ships white, for the passage to India and the Far East mainly. NOW, see the LST above, when they were first built they were run by P and O and they were painted white with a yellow band, P and O's colours. I recollect seeing them in White in The Persian Gulf in the early 1960's. The RFA took them over and grey they became. I still remember the old white and yellow band Troop ships - Empire Fowey, Empire Clyde. They were bloody horrible things to passage in !! Trust me on that !! -

Sorry, got my HMS Ocean's mixed up, it was the one by T PAP (I think !) that I ditched because of texture issues - here are the 2 Brazilian conversions I did, 1 x Ocean and all the Brit Round Table Class LST's plus the late Aussia conversion. There is a lot of pixilation on all of them but from a distance they look okay. Ocean is as converted for Brazil, so the CIWS is missing but I retextured the decks to get back to the Brit layout and did a few different decks for the LST's. Link deleted after some minor changes made> -

I ditched most of that Mod a long time ago. I asked him to fix the texture issues with the landing craft and the pixilation on the LST's but he never did so I binned it. I will see what I can find in my archive, back drekly as they say here in darkets Devon. -
AI Seaking mod (SH-3H / Mk.48)
crazyeddie replied to Eight Ball's topic in Static/AI Mods for DCS World
All my 12+ liveries were hand made using PhotoImpact10 - I didnt have a template or a wireframe to work from when I did them, there were nothing available apart from the basic Belgian camo textures when I did mine. No point in explaining to you how I did mine, its would take pages on pages. -
ADMIRAL189'S CORNER - INCOMING SHIP MODELS

That Chilean texture is the default texture which is in the main texture folder. so: Do you have a liveries folder in the mod itself and are there different coumntry liveries in it ? Is there another folder in the Liveries folder with the name LPD_Foundre - inside that should be all the different country liveries Is the path to the liveries folder shown correctly in the entry.lua (mount_vfs_liveries_path (current_mod_path .."/Liveries") Have you removed the country line from the LPD_Foundre.lua. (That is in the datatbase folder/Navy folder) Within each coutry folder in the liveries there should be a description.lua that contains these lines: livery = { {"Material #64", DIFFUSE , "Siroco_Bahia", false}; {"Material #49", DIFFUSE , "Brazilian_flag", false}; } These are the lines for the Brazilian version/livery, each country is different. If you have done all this and everything is correct then it should work perfectly, if it does not then I'm afraid I have no idea what else could be wrong with youyr instal. -

crazyeddie replied to Admiral189's topic in Static/AI Mods for DCS World
If you place a static ship on a map the default texture (the one in the main mod textures folder) is what you will see. There is no facility to change a static ship livery in DCS, It has been asked for, MANY TIMES, but its never been implemented. if you want to see some other livery then place it as a moving ship with a very short waypoint just in front of the bow, and use the livery you want from the drop downs. Thats the livery you will see and thats the only way you can do it. Go to the "shipname". lua file and find this line - stick 2 bars in front of it just like this and now it will appear under every country. -- GT.Countries = { "SPN",}; -

The Ice Breaker looks very interesting Admiral - let me have a look at the textures when you start doing her and I'll help sort that out if you need help with it. -

crazyeddie replied to Admiral189's topic in Static/AI Mods for DCS World
I had a good look around to see if there were any 3dmax models available but there is nothing. There are a few Ice Breakers and Survey ships, of varying quality, but nothing that would double as a Brit Ice Patrol Ship as such. The top image Endurance was lucky to survive a serious internal flooding and was not a very popular ship to serve in, the repair costs were prohibitive so she was scrapped. I dont know much about the middle one HMS Protector A173, only ever saw her a couple of times in Plymouth. The 1967 version shown in Tengah's image was VERY popular ship, getting a draft in her was like winning the lottery !!!. The name Protector and Endurance have been used over many years for whatever ship we had in service down south in the ice, doubling up as the Falkland Islands Patrol ship. They were used to support The British Arctic Survey sites on the various dependecy islands as well.
