Good to see the community spirit alive and well reading through this thread :) If you were in Australia\NZ I know a couple, OCB or AEF guys are always willing to lend a hand

Well it's good to know the guy the pilot of the F 117 and the guy who fired the missiles are now friends. http://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-20209770 and in his own words http://voiceofrussia.com/2012_03_24/69369732/ should name this thread, "F-117 shot down with little information regarding the SU-35 and a comparative essay on the F-117 VS F-22"

Troops Embark but do not Disembark on AI Helos.
Winfield_Gold replied to Milkbone's topic in Mission Editor
I'll just make a quick mission and upload it shortly as an example.....mind you I can't fly for s**t so bare with me Edit: Ok, there is a mission to pull apart in the editor to see what I did with the waypoints. I should used smoke markers for the zones, makes it hard to see where the pickup and drop off points are. You need to set an advanced waypoint for the troops to embark and then at the zone, set a waypoint for the troops to disembark. This is in the Perform Task in the advanced waypoint options. Note also that you need to set a zone for the option to work. I used 50 for the Mission editor zone and 150 for the advanced embark trigger and disembark trigger zones. Let me know how you go with it. I will add that if you have in the radio menu emergency disembark, that means you are not within the drop off zone that was set in the mission editor. You will see that for the last waypoint in the track. Unlike the CTTS script, troops do not automatically load themselves into the chopper. Here are some screen shots of the radio menu if set up correctly. The last one is what you see if not in the disembark trigger zone. Also if you are not in the embark trigger zone when you pick up troops you will not have the DECENT option in the radio menu Dodgy.trk Test.miz -

Via the radio key again. You will have the option to embark to transport to load troops and it will change to embark from transport. In order to load them again, set a new waypoint for the troops and have it set as embark to transport etc etc. Credit to the person who ran through this with me, you know who you are even if I forgot. fjacobsen, make a group of infantry, say 5 or so, then in the advanced triggers you will see the option embark to or embark from transport. -
The radar operator who initially picked this guy up on radar fired the missiles then turned off the radar tracking. He calculated the speed at which the missiles was heading and the time of flight it would take to reach that altitude. When he thought the missiles where within a close enough range, he turned on the radar tracking again. The pilot of Vega 3-1 did not have time to avoid the missiles or launch countermeasures. That is was brought the plane down Vega 3-1 remains the only stealth aircraft to have been shot down by an enemy missile in the history of stealth fighters in a combat zone. Designs have changed from the "have blue" project, otherwise the B-2 would be based on the shape as the F-117 and the F-22 would also be more triangle in design. Is the F-22 more invisible to ground radar than the SU-35 in design? I would say yes but in the air, both aircraft fitted with IRST I would say they are evenly matched. Then it comes down to who has the better missiles

I am sure this issue has been addressed many times in many threads related to this same problem. I have been assured that the problem with ground units and bridges has had special attention paid to it with EDGE. Also new ground models that are in the works is also a reason that road\bridge issues are being resolved. As frustrating at it may be, rest assured that the problem will be resolved in the "near" future.

In Iraq most air to air kills were shot down with AIM-7 and AIM-9's From what I have read, most of these kills were BVR, The information I have is the only aircraft shot down with a cannon in all air engagements was that of the A-10A which shot down an MI-8 with it's gun which happened a few days into the gulf war. Even in the later Iraq war, I don't think any aircraft was shot down with guns in air engagements. I agree, the thread should be\merged with "who has the better missiles" I doubt in this day an age aircraft will get close enough to engage in a gun on gun dog fight. It comes down to who has the better countermeasure systems.

That's correct, I am referring to the Motor setting switches. Thanks for the info, just was not sure how they operated exactly, I'll read up on this further cheers

Curious to know, Do you have to cycle the ignition switch after a false start on an engine such as forgetting to turn on the inverter? I am talking about the 2 switches near the APU On switch on the left console. I'm thinking that this would be to burn of excess fuel that was pumped into the engine and would cause it to stall or be flooded.

Just as I was about to make a comment on Chuck Yeager in a Sabre....

Hopefully the sabre will be released soon so save your coupon for that.

Ease up. His new to these parts and probably has not yet worked out the advanced search feature, or read previous threads that have the same topic discussed.

Request - DCS World: FPS Test Mission
Winfield_Gold replied to docfu's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
I've really only seen this for Arma series, keep in mind though I'm old school, benchmark settings from inside the game was unheard of back in Commander Keen days so I don't really look at benchmark tests from inside games. I do this externally with Nvidia software and 3rd party software -
I beg to differ, maybe do some research before flaming a thread

We could even do multiplayer missions of the evacuation from the US embassy Saigon. The last chopper to lift people off the roof was a UH-1

What fixed our server was the graphics for the server host was set to max, changing the graphics for the host computer to low everything makes it run like it would in a single player mission.

I hope EDGE fixes the minecraft look of roads on mountains. Some roads you actually are driving underneath them and following the contour of the mountain not the road

This is a documentary from the Russian perspective based on 5th generation stealth programs. I found this quite interesting in regards to the thread. http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=72a_1399700323 Is one "Insert Plane Here" better than one "insert plane here" is really a matter of opinion. Probably have to wait for World War 3 to answer the West vs East battle of the better plane designs. A wise man once said, "it's not the plane it's the pilot, this was proven in Vietman"

end of the day, he came to the same conclusion I did when I started this thread....

I agree, but don't my word for it, listen to the interview from Military expert Pierre Sprey, the founder and designer of the F-16 & A-10 Warthog. He agrees with me that the JSF's need to be scrapped

mission editor, button options very slow
Winfield_Gold replied to Newspeedy's topic in Mission Editor Issues
Has been an issue since 1.2.7 1.2.5 mission editor worked well. Even scrolling the mouse zoom on an empty map is laggy. Scroll in and out on an airport with just the map objects and it is laggy as
