Not sure about 40% Here's a few games 4790k vs 7700k (same core count) DDR3 vs DDR4 Gaming at 4K

You should be able to hold 60fps @ 1440P with your system now I think. What clock are you running? 4.8 Ghz Lets compare to my build which is very close to your build. 1080ti vs 2080 (Good match up) Core-i7-7700K vs Core-i7-4790K Now I generally run at 4.8 Ghz up to 5Ghz, have you got cooling that can do this? You have a great motherboard, I have the asus maximus ix hero that's are made for overclocking. I run an AIO and it keeps the temps good. Running at 60 fps (I lock my system to 60) this smooths out the game and trackir. If you can hit 4.6 to 4.8 Ghz it should look like this at 1440P. (Plus i was recording on a 4 core chip, no HT on) This is also on one of the largest servers online with player combined arms access. Max graphic settings MSAA x 2 Not sure if it's going to be worth it upgrading to that real expensive chip just now, when DCS is still very limited to single core speeds at the moment. You might get 10%. Will that be enough to get 4K @ 60fps.Not sure?

Please stop with the word wind, the aircraft creates it's own "airspeed" and fly's around in that air "It's in it, there is no relation to wind, it's in that wind" Wind only affects an aircraft, or is felt by an aircraft in relationship to the ground. Once in the air, it's just air speed over the wings. There is no relation, only to navigation, only the airport wind sock has this relationship because it's fix to the ground. The aircraft can be affected by wind sheer and or turbulent air. This can be very bad when slow, landing etc.

I think it's many mixing all weather experienced by aircraft into the one thing. Like wind or high wind. Instead use the correct words. Wind shear, turbulence etc. https://www.nationalgeographic.com/travel/features/what-is-turbulence-explained/ https://news.delta.com/3-ways-deltas-groundbreaking-turbulence-app-changing-way-we-fly

3080ti or new CPU to overcome FPS issues
David OC replied to danielwwm's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
This is easy to see using MSI afterburner. GPU workload (A-10C tgp and mavericks) CPU workload (Comes down to a single core eventually) not overall. That would be 20% and one core at 100% etc. It's the one core that hits the limit to feed the GPU more. That chip would limit the 2080ti by possibly up to 30% and only 20 perhaps for DCS. My chip limits my 1080ti by maybe 10% etc. Unless I ring the neck out of it at 5G's It's not all ghz's. It' overall throughput of the system too. Still a very impressive chip that has held up very very well for single core. My goal for DCS is to hold 60fps (locked) max settings in all / any situations. This smooths out trackir also, which my system can at 1440p. So still very happy with it. Example -
I would like a Fox3, probably use it maddog. Sometimes I land and hide behind buildings lol. GCI cannot see me now. Popup and maddog (longer range), sounds like fun. Harriers vs F-16 Fox 2's, hunting in the hills from farp. Can have many kills if you have GCI.

Not really a squadron so to speak, but a group that gets online (24/7 server) and takes it semi / serious most of the time. The videos I just shot explains it better.

Some Harrier action

Try a refresh, if that doesn't work you can join by IP at the top right. No password unless set. Not sure why? Here is an example of the DDCS server. Server IP Addresses: 45.27.58.61:10308 If you joined the server last time, it will auto fill in the IP.

Thrustmaster T16000m Throttle Controller
David OC replied to Orestd's topic in DCS World Tutorial & Help Requests
Yes, all controllers have a separate column under the DCS controls. All these devices are (HID) Human Interface Devices Just plug and play An example would be you can even see and use in DCS a xbox game pad controller. -
I would go gaming rig with good cooling over a laptop, unless you are moving around all the time. DCS / well all flight sims are very hard on PC hardware. So we have seen heat throttling on laptops. It's when the laptop cannot disperse the heat generated, so it limits it's performance to cool down.

Also, if your are going to play MP? I still use my monitor 1440P and triackir, some still use Rift S and can see enough. If you plan to play online for a few hours, VR can be a real workout compared to Trackir, which accelerates the moment. I.E you can make it very easy to see backwards with little movement of the head. 1070 will struggle with VR, It's ok for the older first rift like I have (Lower Resolution). You will need fairly low settings and quite small missions to keep the frames at 45fps on the 1070. VR is really hard on the system.

Just have a play I bind the aircraft similarly on my hotas Front seat f14 _ bind what is on the stick and throttle irl. Wherever you want if you dont have the exact stick. This will all take a little time for you to see what You like. After binding the default. Then just add one modifier button in game. I use pinky button on ch throttle. When this is held all the buttons do something else. Gear up/down, flaps down/up, a2a a2g. So most things can be done without taking hands of the stick and throttle. I even have some mfd buttons bound so i can zoom in with the harrier and jf17 etc. The start ups i use a mouse. It becomes a picture / flow when setting up an aircraft by memory. So i need to see scan around the pit left to right setting swirches. I wouldn't be able to memorize all that as well on weird boards. It would need to be a replica pit. Guess it would be ok if only flying one two aircraft. Once started and configed by mouse its 99% on my hotas with modifier button. Like i said all the aircraft i keep similar. Same when using the modifier button. Makes it easier to be half proficient in many airframes in mp. Have fun binding the rear seat in the f14 and remembering where you put them lol. I would just do the main ones. That are on the stick and slowly add things you need to hit most of the time etc. Leave the others to click with the mouse. You have trackir, so its quite easy once setup.

Printing Controls Layouts
David OC replied to Psychotoddler's topic in DCS World Tutorial & Help Requests
I just printed the controller (whatever one) pic/pdf found online when starting out. Used a pencil to try / change config until good. -
Recommend you play on sim. Turn off takeoff assistance. See that here Each aircraft has it's own key bindings. Launch a cold start quick mission and then hit escape and then (Adjust Controls) bind the controls. It will pick the correct controls for that aircraft. As seen here.

Yep, my bad. Still has reviews tho. Seems like a hit or miss going by a few reviews? It is on Amazon and backed by their returns, not bought PC things off amazon myself.
-
I've been on with 60 people and it was good few builds ago. We also use CA and sling ground units and move our own convoys across the map and shoot each other. So somethings is not quite right, as it's been better in the past.
-
It seems like it's sold by MSI if you click on the by msi at the top. Good price at £457.79 Mixed reviews on there.

It's actually very good once you get the fundamentals down. It has more controls at your finger tips then any other aircraft I have flown in a sim. The easiest is the JF-17 for apple ipad. The A-10C you can quickly go from: Switch countermeasures program Stop / Go Switch to gun, air to air Change weapon to maverick, use maverick MFD screen lock fire. You can change to any weapon using HOTAS. Switch to TGP target pod (right MFD? up to you) place this on target. Slave all sensors to that point. Make target mark point for reference, seen on moving map too. Drop bombs on that point, or use that point to slew and lock a maverick fire. It's basically all at your finger tips. The best thing to understand first is the coolie hat. Short press coolie hat up HUD as SOI (Sensor of Interest) Long press coolie hat right (Set right MFCD as SOI) Short press coolie hat right (Cycle through MFCD screen / tab) Etc. Down load chucks guide if you haven't? A-10C guide See page 136 and on. Page 139 You can see the coolie hat functions here, number 8 look to the left and see what the china hat does (When that thing? is SOI) when the TGP is SOI on left or right screen. The china hat forward short press toggles field of view FOV. Then use DMS forward to zoom more. Page 138 (DMS on stick) You can read and learn the rest. like I said, I have a HOTAS not warthog. So I setup the buttons as close as I can as the real one. Remember, the guy's have trained for years before flying an A-10C and what your flying here is the REAL software tool they used to train up from the A-10A to the full HOTAS A-10C.

The hard drive could be an issue...? Plus only 16 GB of ram..... Try lowering the preload radius down to half and see if it helps. You need as much of the sim just in the 16 ram. Then lower view distance to high and test etc.
