  1. I'll take your internet word for it when you can show how it doesn't hit the "numbers" in a very simple video, perhaps even with tacview... Many have tried... Not how it feels to you, you don't feel anything, in your butt or in simple controls here. It's way better now for me using the VKB gunfighter pro for instance. We know how much power there is here. Unless there are more documents engineers can really use, this is just silly guess work. Is it modeled 100%? no, you make it sound like it's way off. Show me.
  2. That's the whole point of being VERY on time at the push lol. Interesting to see how they handle things when I mess up the timings.
  3. Yes, Use the speed brake, this is how it's done. It's to slow you down so you can drop the gear and flaps halfway through-ish the brake turn. I even add a few seconds trim up in the turn once the gear is down, almost come out on speed. Easy to see it then explain it sometimes. You see me also drop the wing more or less to control the height in "level brake" 800 feet through the turn. Helps control the nose, easier then controlling it once wings level in the downwind if fast out of the brake. Edit: You don't trim for on speed in the turn, it's designed around you being wings level. (Downwind) Then do not change the trim when in the final turn because it will be out once level again. Trim in the downwind then leave it.. You only re trim for on speed if you bolter, touch and go etc. You then re trim when wings level on the downwind because your weight would have changed (less fuel)
  4. Should post that in the Forum and site Issues. If you were to have problems / hack. I'm think if you open a support ticket, the guy's would help you out and fix your account. Not sure if ED would go down that road and setup in China? Guess it's a large market, not sure about the hoops to jump through to make it accessible to all of China. I also wonder if that would then limit some aircraft being allowed. J-11 etc. Are they as strict about this as some other countries.
  5. I'm not sure what your after here? This is a debate about the ED's finances, ED's personal management. All these departments are managed by ED to bring everything together at the end. This includes adding weather and atc to the sim. Do you want ED to pull these teams apart to work on / in different teams to hopefully get these things you want done quicker...? Let ED manage this, they have been doing it for a few years...1991. One of the only combat sim company's still around from back then.
  6. This thread is 5 years old..... BitMaster posted that way back in 2014. DCS is a lot different now. He would have a different opinion about this today. You can find him in the PC Hardware and Related Software section talking about this stuff. -
  7. Making steady progress on the MAX software update There would always be something that could be upgraded (Software) or engineered to be better in any aircraft. That also comes back to time, money / development cost. This was a real doozy that did cost lives. Just take a step back and look at the bigger picture here, ED did have the system in place, like your talking about with the A-10C and Ka-50 when first out. Separate games / installs. There is NO money going in that direction and especially in the very small flight sims niche. Plus you need highly skilled engineers / 3D modelers to build the thing. All the sims in the past 90's, all the combat sims had bug's. That other combat sim still has many bugs and has been worked on for 20 years ( Same engine). ED new engine is only a few years old. If ED was to release this engine "fairly clean" and polished (Stop any new technology development...?), plus add vulkan api, new damage modeling, new weather, F/A-18, F-16,(Third parties? They would wait till finished?). You would be waiting 5 to 10 years possibly. Also ED's software is used in D level training sim's to train pilots. civil sims are easy tho, little AI programming. Unlike ALL the different AI assets in DCS that need to behave differently and ballistics etc etc etc.
  8. What actually happens Quote "It’s important to note that more creative freedom begets more trial and error to reach the solution — which is fine. Some people think that you can just know the perfect solution ex-ante (i.e. in advance) before writing a single line of code. I contend instead that, for creative activities, the process of discovering a solution to a given problem (not only software) is a process of tinkering: you can’t have perfect knowledge in advance, but instead you learn by doing, iteratively trying new things and keeping what works, and by refining your solution. https://hackernoon.com/you-have-to-choose-between-software-delivered-on-time-and-good-software-44f4af1249b1 .
  9. I'm surprised no one has mentioned that you can rollback, if unhappy to any DCS version you like. (While new things settle down...) Until your happy with the current build that is, unless playing on a specific MP server. You can also have as many builds on your pc as you like too. 10. We don't compare other sims here. ED is running their own business and it's a lot different to all the others. You cannot have both. No need to stop the plane coders / engineers to help out with the new engine and get it perfect/Better. Everyone wants this new engine, better optimization, vulkan api etc. That's a huge task and possibly even more bugs along the way to get there (Good stable level thing....Always something to do....). You cannot stop the other coders and get them to help here I believe. The guy's coding the engine have been deep into it and the bug's for years. Adding more coders would slow it down possibly for a long time. EDIT: Also try and look at this from an engineers point of view a little. Why fix blah, blah and blah when we are rewiring the code for blah, blah and blah systems and will need to rewrite all that again for the new vulkan engine and api's etc.
  11. Why delete? You can switch back and forth to whatever version you want anytime.
  12. Are your textures option set to high for that pic JJfler? If not, try it on high. Edit I would also just wait for the A-10 update to see how it looks then.
  13. You automatically get reprimanded by the sim. This includes being demoted and a force log out of DCS for a week. :)
  14. drag coefficients relating to.... Most of the fixes are from cfd modeling, so the coefficients should be ballparkish. I ran into this site online recently https://www.simscale.com/projects/ that allows uses to use cloud computing to test cfd's. https://www.simscale.com/projects/Ali_Arafat/compressible_aerodynamics_of_commercial_aircraft/
  15. I have tried it using process lasso to turn off cores. Stuttering mess (Large Difference) if you drop to two cores.
  16. https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=134677&page=8;) :)
  17. Re calibrate the throttle. Nothing to do with DCS. Sometimes when I was using CH manager to calibrate, I would do the calibration and not quite hit the end stops of the throttle. This will give you a little extra buffer to make sure you get zero to max throttle.
  18. I believe the core is worked on by a specific few and or team, that know it in and out, bugs and all for years, very hard to add coders to help and not go backwards. ED has put on many extra hands to move forward on Mac. It's a limited market on the civil side for ED. The commercial training side possibly has more opportunities here and there. I see Mac as an in between filter for people that play Ace Combat/HAWX, War Thunder. That now want something a little more to chew on and a little more realism. These players will get their DCS feet wet on Mac and many perhaps will then turn to DCS and the expensive full fidelity modules. I use the FC3 all the time, once the hotas is setup, it's not a lot different except for the startup button pushing when looking at it from an online battle perspective. Compare the F-18 to the Su-27 hotas setup and they all have a realistic performance and flight characteristics too.
  19. You can also make your own snap views and bind them to make it easier to enter things. DCS A-10C snap view test Binding snap views in sim
  20. Yep, You can also play with the height/ballooning in the break by changing the bank angle. Victory205 talks about this in his Case I Landing Tips found here. QUOTE "If the nose sags below the horizon, then roll right to underbank as necessary. If climbing, then roll left to overbank, holding a constant back stick position initially. You are managing the lift vector to control altitude." END QUOTE You can see me do this here and roll out almost on speed, as I was adding some trim while in the bank.
  21. Hi timj, Did you purchase on the web store? The modules are tied to your account. You just login when you launch DCS, then go into the module manager once DCS is loaded. It should then ask if you wish to install any modules you have purchased.
  22. It' not all about spamming coders at a problem mojiao This is possibly some of the hardest things you can code for a sim/game. These guy's work in close nit teams and know and swimming in everything F18 (bugs and all) for the last few years. I don't think throwing more coders would help move things forward and perhaps even slow things down for quite a while.
  23. Hey Burger, Just to give you a good idea about cost, MSY is where I get my parts to build my PC's. They also sell built PC. MSY workout of industrial areas so they keep there prices down. http://www.msy.com.au http://www.msy.com.au/Parts/PARTS.pdf Gaming systems http://mspec.msy.com.au M.SPEC AURORA V4 Gaming $3149 CPU: Intel Core i7 8700K 3.7GHz Cooler: Thermaltake Floe Riing 240 Premium RGB Liquid CPU Cooler Motherboard: MSI Z390 GAMING PRO CARBON Memory: GeIL SUPER LUCE RGB SYNC (Black) 16GB Kit (8GBx2) DDR4 3000 Graphic Card: MSI Nvidia 8GB RTX 2080 VENTUS OC SSD: Samsung 970 EVO 500GB M.2 SSD Hard Disk: Seagate 3.5" BarraCuda 2TB SATA III Hard Disk Drive Case: Thermaltake View 37 ARGB Edition Mid Tower Case Power Supply: Thermaltake Toughpower 750W 80Plus Gold Semi-Modular PSU https://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/msi_mpg_z390_gaming_pro_carbon_review,1.html This setup with a good cooler and a K chip will let you overclock the chip a little to get the best out of DCS. I'm not saying to go with MSY. It's just a price reference for you.
  24. Have you tried removing the labels.lua from your saved games folder and restarting DCS? You can copy the original back to the Your saved games folder if you want to re-modify the file for something different or if it's corrupted. Restart dcs and try a repair / clean. Find the original to copy here C/D/E etc:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta\Config\View
  25. VR is great and all, it's still not perfect for sense of speed. Rift and HTC is only 110-degree field of view, still missing quite a bit monocular view. New VR with a wider FOV will be much more realistic for sense of speed. pimax is 200 degree. I posted this in another thread as someone else was asking about it. https://vr-lens-lab.com/field-of-view-for-virtual-reality-headsets/
