Attached is the log. I noticed that the Harrier's nozzles past 60% caused a strange spherical cloud around the plane when stopped. dcs.log-20180331-222205.zip

A funny thing happened on the way to the..
=Mac= replied to GazAce's topic in Release Version Bugs and Problems (Read only)
Oh, the train.... That was me. I was on my way back to Dusseldorf and had forgotten all about the science project that I had in my gym bag. I was actually smuggling a 2.2 kg sample sphere of thermonuclear probiotic unobtainium to sell to the insurgents hiding in a German pizza shop. They had agreed to pay $100 U.S. Monopoly money for exclusive rights to it. But, well, you know how those gorgeous Georgian women are, and one voluptuous lady had accidentally fell into my lap while on that train and I was so distracted by her charms that I dropped my gym bag which became as unziipped as I was. As you know, unobtainium has the same powers that DCS AI do: trees, mountains, and almost 2 foot thick lead walls are all transparent to them. As such, your TGP had noticed the quantum radiation given off by my sample even though you could not get a visual on it. Be advised that, while TGP sensors are strong enough to lock on unobtainium, Maverick sensors are not and, while a Rifle on the TGP lock may start at the train, the Maverick will only lock on to geostationary objects. Thus, your Maverick launch would end up blowing up the train track behind the train, not the clandestine unobtainium. Your mission, GazAce, should you decide to accept it, is to return to the area, search for and find the residual amounts of unobtainium using your TGP, lock onto it, slave your AIM-9 to the lock and fire. BDA will be done by two McDonald's clowns in the vacinity and communicated to the THRUSH command center in Prague. As always, should you or your A-10 flight crew be caught or killed, the Secretary of Finance will disavow any knowledge of your actions. This forum post will self destruct in 10 years. -
When I am using NVG, yes, inside the cockpit is blurred intentionally as it would be in a real Harrier. But, if you set your zoom properly, you can "peek" under the NVG to catch a glimpse of some cockpit stuff (i.e., fuel state, etc.)

Night. Rain. Cockpit cold and dark. Dark being the operative word in this "problem". I turned on the flashlight but could hardly see anything with it. Had to guess where the fuel handle was to drop it. Can you guys improve on the flashlight a bit? Thanks. Oh, and a huge THANK YOU for the AFC and ALT hold! I love it! (Who wouldn't?)

I flew last night with no issues (other than my own piloting mistakes.) I did update my GeForce to the latest and the only thing I lost there was my HDMI audio recognition, on my second monitor. I suspect this is a confusion between DCS and nVidia because many people are not having problems while many people are. (Just my guessing.) I thus wait for the hot fix.

I updated last night and (mistakenly) launched into an A-10c in multiplayer but got no crash. (Didn't try the battery switch.) I got into a Harrier and flew normally (crashed the plane as per my usual! :music_whistling:) My only mod is a squadron skin for my Harrier. I have SRS but didn't launch it.

If you like the sound take a look at this...DYNAMIC SOUND for the 2000
=Mac= replied to Ala12Rv-watermanpc's topic in M-2000
I could listen to that all day. In fact, in real life, my father is ex-Air Force and I am ex-Navy. I have lived at many military establishments where I was exposed to many different aircraft flying about. It's a sound I could never get tired of hearing. The sound of the physics of tremendous power. You have captured this quite well. I do have a couple observations, if I may offer them to you. My equipment limited me to a substantial degree in the lower frequencies. The bass inclusion did not come through well enough in my headphones so I cannot comment on how it presented itself to me. My headphones are just cheap gaming headphones (not studio quality) and their 40mm drivers only reproduce sound from 30Hz - 19KHz (approximately). I do understand where you placed the bass and how well that placement was just from what I could hear. Awesome stuff! Now for the suggestion. I'm not sure just how much you will be able to accomplish this, but one of the most impressive things I experienced in my R/L sound appreciation was the distance delay in sound reaching me when a pilot suddenly goes from full power to idle or the opposite. Up close, the change is effectively immediate. At a distance, the sound is delayed by a second per 1,000 feet. It really tells you just how far away that noisy thing is, making it all the more impressive. As I said, I don't know if you can model that. But it sure would be an amazing thing to get. Finally, I would suggest that you submit your work to ED and apply your concepts to all the fast movers' sound effects. It is that dramatic of an effect, especially to makers of videos. Thank you for your work! -
Perhaps I am a bit lucky. For sure, I am very much poorer. But I don't have spinning HD. I have 3 SSD's, the newest 500 giggle bite thing dedicated exclusively to DCS World. My mobo is too old to have an M.2 slot so I'm stuck with three SSD's plugged into the SATA slots. But my DCS launch time is measured in seconds, not minutes. (Multiplayer launch, notwithstanding, of course.)

I'm not getting it. My TIR is a bit older, I suppose. Is it possible that your USB controller is beginning to fritz out?

Nearly every day I get 1 module to activat again...
=Mac= replied to D4n's topic in Installation Problems
On my gaming machine, I run no anti-virus. Windows 7. Ever since 2.5, I have been getting the same thing as everyone else. Occasionally, I am asked to activate but when I do, it says that it's already activated. I just carry on. I think it's the new DRM modules checking themselves in with Big Brother. I don't mind. But it does get irritating when three modules want to check in at the same DCS launch. -
In VMFA-251, we've been flying the Harrier in our training missions (and fun missions) in preparation for the upcoming FA-18 Hornet. Of course, the Harrier AND 2.5 are both still in Beta, but to fly them both even now is an unbelievable experience.

I came across the Vuichard Recovery method on my own (in desperation, actually.) The idea is to break out of the "donut". The fastest way is to use both the rotor disc and the tail rotor. That's the Vuichard Recovery method. You don't have to go with your rotor torque (roll left or right depending on clockwise or counterclockwise rotor spin) but using the torque maximizes the escape. I tried pitch escape (nose down or nose up) which seemed to "try" to escape. But it gave me the idea to try rolling. What I didn't know was to use rudder left or right to help the roll out of the "donut". Simply trying to out power the "donut" only makes the "donut" stronger (if you get into one.) I haven't tried this, but what you all are describing as a possibility is drop the collective, fall below the "donut" then applying power to stop descent. Sounds like something to play with but keep in mind the amount of time (or, more importantly, H above G) that trying to drop below the "donut" will require. I think the Vuichard is the best possible solution.

Hi guys, I didn't make it back in time for 1830 this evening so I will try to connect tomorrow. Not to worry: I read the posts here and know you all are just getting things going. I'll head to Teamspeak tomorrow. Mac

I went to your website and tried to register but kept getting You did not pass the security check. Please try again. So I will submit my intro here: Randall MacDonald here. AKA =Mac=. I've been flying sims since LoMac. I've been with two virtual squadrons over the years, the last one was the 104th. It's been a few years since I've flown in a squadron setting; I usually practice on the Aerobatics Online server. While I have everything that flies from Eagle Dynamics, I am most comfortable in Western aircraft. I am adept at getting the F-15C on and off the runways, the P-51D (well, most of the time), I have managed a few carrier landings with the Harrier, but I am most at home in an unarmed Huey. Because I fly lone wolf most of the time, my comms and nav abilities are limited to spelling them. I am an ex Navy ('71 to '74) squid so I understand, generally, how flight deck operations go. I did a year in Iceland with the VP squadrons (they had a nice volcano when I was there!) I spent a month or so off the East Coast aboard CVA-59 on carrier quals for VF-74 (as a yellow shirt as well as training for a red one) before their Med cruise in '74. At NAS Oceana, I also trained as a Grape. In real life, I am a recently retired professional precision driver and live near Toronto, Ontario, in the great State of Canada! I am an avid sailor with a 26-foot sloop that I dance in Lake Ontario's waters with whenever winter's ice melts. I have a gaming machine (besides this house server) with : P9x79 Deluxe, Intel i7 3820, 4.6 GHz stable, Corsair H80 hydro cooler, G-Skill 32GB DDR3-2133, GeForce GTX 1060 8GB, Kingston 120GB SSD, Crucial 256GB SSD, (edit: I forget the brand of a new 500GB SSD dedicated to DCS 2.5) CoolMaster 1.2kW PSU, Samsung 27", Samsung 4K, APC 1200 UPS, Logitech G-15, G-13, G27 car wheel, Saitek Pro Flight Rudder Pedals, Thrustmaster HOTAS Warthog, Logitech Z5500, TrackIR 4, (1TB, 2TB, 3TB and 2x 4TB) ext HD. Oh, and I also have a 1080p HDMI pass through DVR recording onto a 1TB portable SSD. Recently, I registered and flew with a formal online competition in an F-5 but completely embarrassed myself with it. I had never heard of Simple Radio so spent most of my time trying to say my name rather than even finding the bandits I knew were coming for me. In essence, I was blind, deaf, and dumb (in both senses of that word.) That said, I am very willing (eager!) to learn new things. I understand some BFM, know how to spell Tacan, know enough AAR to keep from hitting the tanker often, and (seriously) will do my best to act professional. Being retired, I can make it to flights whenever. For the first few flight hours, though, I will be heavily dependent on an IP. If you have a slot available and are willing to put up with my lack of skills, I would love to join your crew as a Harrier student pilot and (when it gets an early release) as a Hornet driver trainee. Cordially Yours, =Mac=

Can't join multiplayer 2.5 stuck in loading or lobby or black cockpit

You are welcomed to fly FSX. Seriously, friend: give ED some time. There is NOTHING else like it out there. -
Bridges still blue as of last night.

Makes me wonder if TM will be releasing a stick and throttle for us?
-
What? I flew it last night! Just before I woke up. Seriously, flying the Hornet vs the A-10c is going to take a lot of cross training. The TDC change won't be that hard but muscle memory is going to fight me!

You have landed at ZBAA (Beijing) on a bright sunny morning.

Just a crash. Don't know why. I had been up in the mountains in an apc and ended up flying in a vicious spin. I just waited and eventually ended up on the ground. Drove around for a while, shot an infantryman and went to exit. Game crashed. dcs.log-20180209-090049.zip

Was flying out of Sochi in a Mustang in the mountains. Yes, the view was awesome. However, I looked around for a place to land if I had engine failure (old habit but a good one in real life) but there were all these trees everywhere! In the Canadian North, we have the same problem. Real life sucks, you know. Now, so do all those trees in 2.5. PLEASE note: I am KIDDING!!!!! :)

I flew from Sochi in a P-51D. Up into the mountains I went and came close to digging a smoking hole because I was watching the scenery so much. The sunrise was awe inspiring. I don't think people who have NOT flown in this flight sim masterpiece can appreciate what we all are yelling about. This is unbelievable. In 2.2, my FPS was in the 40's. Today, with everything maxed out except in 1920 x 1080, my FPS was consistently in the 90's, often well above 100. That's with EVERYTHING fully maxed out. I have yet to try 3840 x 2160. I will see once I get a couple hours nap: I've been working on this update all day! Eagle Dynamics, you've made history today. This is a work of art. Just re-read my post. My signature at the bottom now needs to be changed! Good bye 1.5. Edit again: changed the signature below!

Yup. Crashed. Have to move OB to the bigger drive. Not sure if this will work. Edit: Copied OB to the big drive. (E:) with Program Files, Eagle Dynamics, and Open Beta. Renamed C: same. Edited Start Menu links to change C: to F: Then ran the updater which copied D: OA over to E: then CHECKED the downloaded torrents I already got (about 11GB) then is now proceeding to finish the update! OMG, This is working!
