  1. What is your controller(s)? (joystick, throttle, pedal if any?) Do they enable you to fly precisely at all? No pun intended, but it looks like you would try to fly this thing with a keyboard or XBox controller. If it is not the case, I would try to watch some more Case I recovery videos on youtube, and would try to begin fix one step of the process at a time. First learn to fly the Hornet 800 feet 350 knots up the BRC on the starboard side. Then learn to make the break to a level turn, pulling about as much G's, as your speed divided by 100, decreasing with your speed decreasing during the turn, and so on. On the downwind you should get down to 600 feet, and never get back above it at all, but rather turning into the groove descending. After you trimmed to AOA, do not use the stick for altitude change, but only the throttle. I know it is a steep learning curve, but you can't skip it if you want to master it.
  2. What can you watch on AoA after you trimmed the plane out to the E-bracket in a first place? While adjusting the FPM with the throttle for climb or descent, AoA doesn't change in the Hornet at all. That's the point of it... Or?...
  3. Topic search didn't bring this up, so I rather ask: is there any dark mode for the kneeboard? Maybe it is rather a DCS question, but during a night mission the kneeboard nearly burns out my eyes, when it appears as a freaking flashlight to my face. Sorry, if wrong place to ask, appreciate if someone points me out where has this question been discussed on DCS forum.
  4. I think FPM is called rather VV in the Hornet. Might be wrong tough...
  5. And if your HSI is on the right DDI, you don't have to only hope until the abeam position. You can see it all the way, beginning as early as finishing break, so you can set it along downwind by the time reaching the rounddown. That's the point in it.
  6. Just guessing, but probably if you lock on RDR known terrain features or objects (maybe even necessary to made to waypoints?), and tell the inertial navigation system: this is what radar tells us now about the location of WP "X", please correlate and update it yourself.
  7. Hay Swift, just a little nit picking, your guide mentiones EMCOM, which should be rather EMCON. Just saying, cool checklist nontheless!
  8. It is always difficult to impossible to give proper help if you don't describe the problem properly. You didn't write in the OP you have problem with engine start, as "throttle doesn't work" is by far not equal to "can"t start engine". Hope you sorted it out now anyways, enjoy.
  9. This just shows the Hornet is so easy to fly, you can even fly it with your...
  10. I understand your point, but how could/should you technically see any object around you, if it is not on your own computer?
  11. Hi Faelwolf, HUD symbology is in fact projected and also focused into infinity. It it would be only 3 feet in front, there would always be a parallax problem, in other word you would unintentionally shift your aiming point with the slightest ateral movement of your head. And if it wouldn't be focused in infinity, you should always shift your focus back and forth from sharp symbology to sharp outside objects, like old eyes do when reading newspaper and looking up. You just couldn't see both sharp at the same time. It is pretty similar to a rifle red dot sight, if you happened to see into one sometimes.
  12. Lateral distance helps you put yourself in the proper lateral distance from the carrier early on after the break, on downwind. Or even miles out in front, if you (for practice sake) make a very late break resulting in a very long downwind. Looking at TACAN, you can't say your present lateral offset distance, only LOS or "absolut" distance in any moment. If you use lateral distance from HSI, you can be miles out, but already on proper reciprocal BRC AND already set the proper "future" distance for when you get to the abeam position. So at the end of your break, you can't use TACAN distance to know where you are reg. perpendicular distance from BRC. It is kind of an "offset localizer for downwind". The other (less precise) method is to have the HSI on 10 NM scale, in this case your aircraft symbol left wingtip should about touch the BRC course line flying along downwind. TACAN distance is usually 0.1 more, than the HSI lateral distance at abeam position. Hope this helps
  13. I'm not sure if you will find it in any guide, I think it only made it into the sim with the last update (and DCS guides are a bit scarcely updated to be honest). I for one also discovered it in this video, and also tought at first, something is off, but when I asked Matt, he wrote me back this info.
  14. HoneyViper, from your constant overshooting I pretty much suspect you might think you are in a 30 degree bank, but you are in fact maybe only banking 15 degree? The bank scale in both direction starts with a small line at 5 degree, then the next line is 15 degree, and only the next "step" is the 30 degree mark. Also, what is your lateral distance from the carrier, when start turning in? Don't mix up "lateral distance from the course line" with TACAN distance. You will only see lateral distance if you put the HSI on the RIGHT DDI, because on the left DDI, the default blank message line masks the number you are looking for. Lateral distance (right bottom of the HSI) should be around 1.2 NM, heading should be reciprocal BRC, and you should start turning appr. when the TACAN needle is around 5 degrees "after" your 9 o'clock position on the HSI.
  15. I guess you mean this behaviour? Look at it at 3:45. If your VV is above - 7 degree, the diamond will appear at - 7 degree. If the VV is below - 7 degree, then the diamond will appear where the VV is pointing. So, correct as it is, #4 is indeed expected behaviour (even if it is new). Apologies if misunderstood the question
  16. In latest Open Beta, I can't see any light.
  17. Just to clarify what should I report: should the fast movers have some dim lights actually, or they should be visible without any lights on them anyways?
  18. Or maybe to QNH.
  19. And? Did it went well, or what's your message?
  20. Yup, +1 here, doing the Raven One campaign...
  21. I had the exactly same problem, but after reporting it, BD fixed it months ago, and I could progress no problem. When did you try it the last time unsuccessfully?
  22. Hay BD, should we report it as a bug? Or any sugggeston how could we make ED fix it? Thanks
  23. While you were waiting, did you hear any radio messages relaying what happens inside the building? Takes them pretty long time inside to clear and extract. Just a tought...
  24. Oh, sorry, I just realized wrong topic. I wanted to ask Raven One, Mission 8. Sorry...
