  1. Don't really need update. Version chnage is important enough so it worth a full install.
  2. I am so glad about Mustang's texture been finally embedeed in the vanilla product. Have been by any chance considered similar texturing work for buildings / roads / airfields? Also there was no mention about the sound engine. Have been this reworked too? @ED/Wags: should I cancel any other weekend activity/party/drink sesssion and stick to my computer ? :D :D :D
  3. How is the "smoke" in the branch release ?!
  4. We all will have our best use of multi GPU processing starting with 1.5 ... just hold on few more hours until its beta release :D AMD cards will be just fine... I am sure about it ;)
  5. And BTW, some others 3rd party teams promissed some consistent updates in september... isn't it Leatherneck? :) ... enlight our weekend please :D
  6. SiTh, prepare your coffee! You will have a long weekend :D
  7. Might ED come to us to make a happy weekend? I am still hoping. I would like to read at least the change list of what will be 1.5 !!! What you say ED? Can you? Please... ?! :D
  8. First of all is about graphics with direct impact on performance. All others new features come very very close to first one ... but that one is the most expected to resume my sim hours. Modern games need that touch for for sure. I cannot go for playing Steel armor for example even I know is best tank sim, but graphics is at least 15 years behind :)... I am and will remain an armchair sim guy ... ;)
  9. There is at least one other similar example we already know. And we also know their product is best in its class. Their continuity I think exceeds even their own expectations . I know you can made it too...
  10. I bet on (Super) Puma
  11. Just found out myself this software :), however I see there is not much discussions about it over here. I will give it a try ASAP but it looks for me extremly promising. Is anybody experiencing bad things about it?
  12. You were not here when this was not possible even in single player :D. But yes, this is a very good feature to have.
  13. The focus is not to multi CPU but to multi GPU and this is a general industry approach. DirectX12 knows to handle parallel tasks way better than previous versions and for everybody surprises only newest GPU from AMD are capable to use this feature 100%. Having this in mind, the CPU single thread might fall to less importance as it is now. And the most important thing: DCS 1.5/2 is multi GPU capable. Now I think you understood what I have wanted to say about this issue.
  14. You will solve exactly nothing this way. Your problem have a complete different root cause. Just sit down and think about it multiple time
  15. Absolutely fantastic !!! This ending year will be so hot!

    Sim racing

Rfactor2 have some nice online races too... did not participate myself but I read about them. iRacing is not as good on simulation, kind of arcadish too, but now it is a matter of personal tastes after all. I have a 28" 4k Gsync monitor - Acer - http://us.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/model/UM.PB0AA.001 Cons: small size for 4K - I have compensate this by keeping it quite close to me (very close), so that it will occupy me same field of view as my former 42" TV Pros: gaming monitor - 4K:60Hz, G-Sync, TN technology with the smallest response time. Pixel density on small size creates a kind of retina display feel. 4K in DCS is very effective, making spotting enemy airplanes much more better. Spotting however will be improved in next engine. A very good monitor option is also the Acer 34" : http://www.144hzmonitors.com/monitors/acer-xr341cka-34-inch-ultrawide-curved-g-sync-ips-gaming-monitor/ It have the perfect resolution for its size and it has G-sync/Freesync (there are two physical models). Not cheap at all, but with a good reason in my opinion.

    Sim racing

Not big in sim racing, but I do own Assetto Corsa and Rfactor2, also I played a lot of other titles before. 3 monitors are a clear winner for racing, however I am happy with my single 4k monitor as well. A Logitech Gwhatever or a Thrustmaster force feedback are also part of "wanted" equipments. Without FF everything is just flat. Pedals are also mandatory while a H shifter is a nice to have. Racing sim are less complex then aviation for sure. If you have the basic knowledge of car setup parameters (toe angles, weight distribution, power distribution, drag forces, etc). then you will be able to feel that a half degree of toe angles affects your car performance. When this will happen then you can really say you are mastering sim racing. Now, regarding the titles on the market, besides the 2 I mention in the beginning, all the rest could be considered arcadish... including the so marketed Project CARS (developed by the former team that was behind Need for Speed). Assetto and Rfactor2 are on a real dispute. Both have good dynamics, but both have some weakneses: - Assetto dynamic is slightly inferior - Rfactor2 has an old graphic engine - AI for Assetto is arguable Best feeling on driving is given by Rfactor2. You really know before what to do due to the almost perfect force feedback integration. Asseto graphics however compensate the wheel feeling making a very realistic look landscapes/cars and so. I strongly recommended having both if is possible for you. BTW: not racing, but a very nice driving feeling in Euro Trucks Simulator. This is a real time killer game actually, a very good sleep starter for me in the late night :D. 5 minutes of big wheel simulator and I found myself in a deep sleep on the armchair :D
  18. Yes, it was stated new engine will be multi GPU capable but not multi CPU. The sound engine is curently working in a second CPU thread but this cannot be really counted as multi CPU. Also keep in mind that for now multithreading a single process is programatically so chalenging so that nobody use it. What we know as multithread are ususaly special apps which need so much repetitive processing so that the input data can be splited in parts and each part will have allocated a single process thread. (rendering is an example here) As a different example, there are some kind of approaches were an AI is created indeed as a separate thread, but this is posible when there is no real interaction wit it. ( like a civil plane running on its own schedule) Directx12 and AMD are on the right track regarding real paralel processing... on GPU . Nvidia lost this competition for now so we have to wait next gen for their cards. To be sure regarding CPU choice, find the best single thread bechmark and make your selection based on that.
  19. Keep your joystick! Is one of the best even though is not built anymore since 10 years ago. Add a throttle a to it from the second hand market. Tune them up if you need using Leo Bodnar boards. The twist rudder of this joystick is prety ok for the begining and you'll have enough time to evaluate the need for a real rudder pedals. X-55 have very mixt reviews and does not have Force feedback. As future plan might be safer to save money for a warthog if you are really serious about DCS.
  20. I have a very mixed experience with Arma and their open modding system. It almost became a bother to decide which Mi8 helicopter to use... I mean what mod does have best modeled Mi8. And if I finally find a proper mod for this one it is almost sure that the M1A2 is missing... and so on. What I am trying to say is that uncontrolled content production (no matter is a gun, a car, a map) can sooner or later throw the community in a very strange whirls of sheer knowledge about mods and modders. ED decision is a correct one that leads to a unified community.
  21. I found recently a very interesting plugin which comes by default with MSI Afterburner software and enables some very useful GPU & CPU monitoring on some Logitech keyboards display like G510 and G13. Check attached picture for more details. This seems to be very stable and almost invisible from system load point of view. Hope it might be useful for some of you!
  22. 1. Create a new email for your son and make sure you will add your email address as secondary recovery option for it. 2. Raise a ticket to ED support and ask them to change the email attached to your son's DCS profile to the new address. 3. Now, he can reset password for DCS account by himself. To prove that it is really your account, maybe will help the fact that you bought some modules and then you donate them via Eagle Dynamics marketing mechanism to your son account (at least this is how I did it for my son). Untill your problem will be solved there is still the SU-25T available for free to blow up things this weekend :D Wish you good luck ! PS: if your son account have the modules donated by you, then you can simply redraw them from that account and pinpoint to a newly created one.
  23. Very well done ! Good flight, good cinematics !
  24. Context might be seen in the attached picture. ED might want to change the link behind that button.
  25. ED ... you have some work to do with your domain name registration :)
