  1. It always shimmers on the ground, no matter what the settings, mod, etc... MSAA though is a big framerate killer, I would rather increase my PD to 1.2 and keep it off. Shader mod didn't do much for me, I suspect maybe it works on lower end systems.
  2. I don't have any issues seeing with my Reverb outside of one item.... dark blue sky. Aircraft disappear in the unrealistic dark blue sky. Reality is it would be even easier to see. I'm looking outside now and my sky is light blue, not dark blue. The DCS world is like a poorly done gradient from light to dark. Outside of that, VR improved my ability to see in VR outside of the obvious need to turn at a 1:1 ratio to see things. Seeing in DCS is about training the eyes. Especially at the ranges your talking about, 2-3 miles. And it would obviously be harder to spot a F5 against a dark Nevada range, but that is realistic. The key is positioning yourself to see the bandit against the lighter areas of the sky.
  3. F-15 when in TWS and firing a sparrow should auto switch to STT. Thank you
  4. it's a rewrite
  5. Once Valve releases a headset at 2160x2160 resolution I'm all in :)
  6. integrity check
  7. wasn't addressed - ie. have to zoom in to see runway lights while the lights of the city are visible at same range...
  8. I would agree, F-15 lighting seems rather hosed in the night missions now. Not impressed
  9. 1. performance improvements. Well, last patch, killed fps in VR. So that went backwards 2. lighting - is terrible. Bloom effects overdone. Flew F-15 in NTTR last night, radar and rwr lines where thicker, it didn't look very good at all. I think this went backwards. Any chance we can have this as a setting ? 3. missile dynamics - each release the aim-7 has different characterics (we test this, chaff resistence, etc...). Dsync continues to be horrible ED, obviously move forward, but don't move backwards. Don't say perf improvements then throw in a bunch of fps killers in new patches.
  10. I fly exclusive F15 (some Viper) - is this available now for F15 and is it IC compliant ?
  11. Has there been a hotfix for VAICOM yet - just curious - thanks! (I've turned it off until there is a fix)
  12. same, if I start up voice attack and viacom - my DCS now won't run. so I had to repair and let it delete files - so hoping for a fix soon
  13. wow, like tons of instructions, a hodge podge setup. Too bad DCS snapview just don't 'work'
  14. Ok nice - any chance you can share your setup - and is this IC compliant ? My old neck can't handle it but I can't fly anymore without VR :)
  15. exactly, newer engine and different engine, it's not apples to apples here so... ? Plus IL2 is garbage compared to DCS :)
  16. Great example of a thread getting highjacked, 4 pages with none of it having to do with the 8kx benchmarks with DCS.
  17. ok so how do you install it and use it ... 'should work'
  18. hopefully fixed soon.
  19. this mod is fantastic
  20. yes, it's clearly not working correctly, hopefully they fix it in next patch
  21. looking forward to F-16 support - thanks!
  22. fantastic - really looking forward to this. you mention VR - I didn't quite understand the support - are you saying this would work with VR ? Are the position and sizing possible ?
  23. DCS IPD is incorrectly named, it has nothing to do with IPD
  24. After quite some experimentation, I've found a great happy spot (for now lol). PD 1.0 SS start at 100%, adjust until you are getting the picture quality and frames that work for you. For me and my system it's 150%. No MSAA, No shadows, 16x AF. High performance in video card settings. Result - (1) looks fantastic at 150%, stunning to be honest (2) I get 45-60 fps online, and in simple missions offline 60-90 fps. (ie. tanker refueling mission) PD has some serious implications on perf - more so than SS. Its of my opinion as well that you don't want to set both, ie. 1.5 and 150% - this is basically imo oversampling and takes substantial hit. If I move the PD to 1.5, I take 10-15 fps hit, and honestly it doesn't look much different to me than 150% SS. My 2 cents, I realize for everyone it's different, but I setup both offline and online mission, testing each PD and % until I found good perf with good visuals. Time consuming, but definitely revealing
  25. not to kick a dead horse here, however: When testing some fps and settings for my Reverb, I did find quite a difference in fps based on the map, so there is certainly a correlation here. ie. on a popular mp server (104th). mission #1 Caucus - spawn in at Sochi. 45 fps. Flight was consistent 43-48 fps mission #2 Persian Gulf - spawn in at Kish. 60 fps. Flight was consistent 55-60 fps Both flown in F-15. So I do fully believe the map itself is a major part of the fps.
