Initial setup requires some steps after that you are good to go - this link should help https://vr4dcs.com/2019/08/19/preflighting-wmr-steamvr-for-dcs/

I'd probably go two routes for this: Scenario one: F-14, Mig, Su27/33, Ja , Mirage, Viggen, Su25 F-18, F-15, F-16, A-10 Scenario two 'Airforce vs. Navy' F-14, F-18, Mig, Su27/33, Ja, Viggen, Su25, F-15, F-16, Mirage, A-10

Why are the most unrealistic servers the most popular?
USA_Recon replied to Boris's topic in Multiplayer
Options are very limited is some of the reason why. 1. I'd say quite a few people don't want to spend their allocated free time sitting there refueling. There isn't anything 'realistic' about that imo. 2. Servers don't do a very good job explaining the mission objectives and DCS doesn't help much either with it. ie. it wasn't until 104th added Tacview that I could later get a better sense of the mission. No one in real life just takes off into a complete fog of war. (Kudos to 104th for adding Tacview). 3. Lack of consistent comms. Nearly every server promotes SRS but then you go fly in their war (ie. DDCS) and you find out there are 30 people in Discord comms with no one on SRS. Others promote SRS but then they are all hanging out in Teamspeak. It's really a shame ED hasn't integrated SRS directly into the game to make it more accessible to people. Until servers shut off the alternative comms then people won't bother with SRS. 4. Provide downloadable kneeboards and better briefings, turn off the F10 maps. Another area I think ED could improve on - let server admins provide some server specific kneeboard maps. That all said there is a positive about some of the servers being more open and available. I think Just Dogfight for example provides a niche environment where it's not about just slinging Fox3's all over the place. Growling Sidewinder's popularity I believe is that it shows many people want to get up and fly and not need to make it more than that - they keep it rather simple. -
As a huge fan of the Just Dogfight server I ask that we turn off the ability to use labels. Once I found out others are using labels it really completely ruined the experience for me.

Shaders mod for better VR performance (experimental)
USA_Recon replied to parxuk's topic in Virtual Reality
Unfortunately not IC compliant -
What res and FOV is the Xtal - seems how you describe visuals is very similar to what I see in Reverb minus a wider FOV.

Yes this bug was introduced a few patches ago

Question on this.... is an extension needed with the WarBRD base ?
-
Unfortunately, for me it's out of consideration since you can get a Reverb with higher resolution at same price. If Cosmos had Reverb resolution it would be the best headset on the market by far! (2160x2160 vs. 1440 x 1700) But it's a step in the right direction in terms of how it has inside out tracking as well as supports external sensors if desired. I was hoping more units would have this option - those that want that better tracking vs. guys like me that just use it for simulators and don't need external sensors. I'd probably get a Cosmos over an Index - would like though to see someone review it with DCS in mind.

very sad to hear this.

When I sent back my consumer Reverb, they decided they don't do repairs and replaced it with the Pro. I'd get the Pro to make this easier in future. I did actually like the cloth vs. leather but it's not a big deal

anyone using this with stick center mounted and extension ?

How to set up toggle switches (a tutorial)
USA_Recon replied to Spy Guy's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Just to confirm, as I want to set this up for some bindings in the F-15, if I make the changes in the 'saved games' input then it won't get overwritten in a patch correct ? -
good catch, hard to keep up. Here is a good summary: https://vr4dcs.com/2019/08/28/vr-hmd-specs-compare-2/

Will it work in a similar way that the Hornet does do we know ?

If able, I'd buy directly from HP. This will assure your getting the newer models. Newer models fixed the main core 3 issues of heat, connectivity, flickering. Glad to hear this KiwiRoss, I also have found just setting DCS to PD 1.0 and using default beta SteamVR settings had the best FPS and it was pretty smooth. Then after that if I wanted any sort of bump up I can use the slider. I also set my motion vector to auto in the settings file.

I have a new HP Reverb (I returned an original) - I can confirm that the new models are fixed. I've had no issues. I would say based on my experience with Samsung and Rift S, as far as simulations go, HP Reverb offers the highest resolution headset you can get. I would not buy a Rift S over a Reverb unless money is a big issue. Pimax 5K+ does offer a really nice FOV. Pimax (and Valve) if you don't have sensors can get upwards of nearly a $1000. Pros/Cons Reverb - 2160x2160 top resolution on the market, best clarity in DCS. Smaller FOV and smaller 'sweet spot'. $650 price. No sensors needed. Rift S 2560×1440 80hz $399. Cheaper, but as you can tell lower resolution. No sensors needed Pimax 5K+ 2560×1440 same resolution as Rift S, lower resolution. highest FOV. Bulky. $699 for unit alone. Base station + controllers (kit) is an additional $300. You can buy Vive base stations. Personally this is a major PITA that you have to separately acquire all this to get 6dof. (Valve Index is similar). I used a few examples of visual clarity: 1. Reverb - can read all the screens on the Hornet without issue 2. Rift S - MFCD is not easy to read 3. Reverb - locked bandit 20nm in the lock box, dot is a dot. 4. Rift S - can't see the dot until much closer, dot is a 'blob' 5. Reverb - F-15C refueling.. Refuel lights are crisp, readable without zooming. 6. Rift S - F-15C refueling - Refuel lights are blurred, blobs, to really see you have to zoom in. I can only assume Pimax5K is same since same resolution as Rift S. Reverb cons is that directly center of lenses is really very clear, as you visually goto the edges of the lenses it loses that clarity. So for best view of ie. MFCD, you have to really look at it for best detail. Hope this helps.
