  1. I am sure it won't take long for a 'Clear Canopy' mod to come out like every other aircraft if it's too bad. Generally you need the same 3-4 mods for most aircraft to make them actually enjoyable in DCS, such as a clearer canopy mod, readable cockpit labels in VR, various texture fixes, NVG blur removal in VR etc.
  2. Lol - oops.
  3. +1, particularly with the reclined seating position an empty seat will be more obvious in VR.
  4. Flirting with that Rule 1.16, we will just go with the fact it's a late 1970's Viper
  5. I believe the Viper has a Time to Go countdown in the TPOD display - bottom right.
  6. The ICP Laser page should have a Laser ST Time, or STart Time that you can set, and this will automatically start the laser at the set time before impact. Also missing the TRNG/CMBT option at this stage - but TGT Pod is still in dev. I see people starting to lase as soon as they drop the bomb a lot on YT sim vids, but you are supposed to allow the bomb to gain ballistic energy through free-fall before laser activation to ensure it has gathered as much momentum as possible to enable adequate manoeuvering to impact the lased point. Hence why you drop in CCRP - as this gets it pretty close to start with so you don't need to start to lase 1 sec after release. Edit: I also believe cofcorpse is correct above, as you fire the laser by 'depressing' the trigger 1st stage - i.e. generally in aviation terms this means to hold it down, not just a momentary press and release. But I am sure some current techies can confirm.
  7. Bump
  8. +1
  9. This was the perfectly timed HYPE thread - my hats off to you sir
  10. Still Happy Viper Friday for us downunder.
  11. Nah, who am I kidding...
  12. +1 Would be nice to have an option to 'Ignore Controller'. Noting the procedure by Sirrah to re-arrange them (useful, cheers), it would also be nice to just be able to drag and drop the order of the controllers using the header bar at the top for each column.
  13. What Kappa said..err did
  14. Also, don't overlook the fact THAT IT'S AN F-16!! :joystick:
  15. Yes as Yurgon said - and when combined with no DZ you may have difficulty registering center on the cyclic (and rudder pedals if using rudder trimmer option).
  16. Much Cooler...
  17. You can use the paddle as a modifier in DCS, you just can't modify any buttons on the stick thou for the reason you mentioned - but throttle, button box etc can all be modified with the paddle.
  18. ^ This! :joystick: ..and also as a few have mentioned i like the HOTAS layout a lot, and now I have a force-sensor sidestick I am looking fwd to flying the Viper the way it is supposed to be flown in my reclined simrig...and that canopy in VR, aww yea.
  19. I would highly recommend opening it up and applying some Nyogel 767A to the two slide rails - difference is night and day regarding that 'grippy' issue you mentioned. There is no slop or gripping with small adjustments anymore. Over full-range movements it can feel a bit uneven and draggy obviously due to the gel - but it really helps where it counts. I picked up a 10 gram tube from oveready.com which is more than enough for the job and very cheap. https://www.oveready.com/flashlight/nyogel-767aa-damping-grease-10g-tube/
  20. Ha that must be nice! - used to take 90 mins to pre-flight the P-3 after you check all the systems and calc the W&B and TO perf. That is just the interior as well - the other FE did the outside inspection, inside tie-down etc at the same time. Inside FE was always the last one to finish his PF.."The aircraft is ready to depart..and everyone is waiting for you" No pressure...am only calculating takeoff performance so nothing important lol.:megalol:
  21. Ditto - only variation from the actual F-16 grip layout I will be using. Will have to see if I actually need to use AP override/disconnect paddle often and possibly map it to something else. Will generally disconnect AP using the toggle switch on my LH button box. But will be using pinky as FOV, side mounted Missile Step button for all it's commands such as NWS etc. I like the idea of using the CMS press as slap-switch, but currently using this to re-center VR. I also find it a little tricky to hit the 'press' activation reliably - I generally slide off into one of the other directions. Will pop these actual layout pics here for anyone that's interested for ref.
