X-55 Rhino driver and software
Bourrinopathe replied to Barao's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Hi, It's best to uninstall everything first. Just make sure to backup your profiles first (\Users\Public\Documents\Mad Catz\X-55 Rhino) Then install the new drivers first, and then, the software. Saitek/Mad Catz have released some (not-yet-official) drivers (v7.0.53.6) >>> available here <<< The latest official software (v7.0.41.10) is >>> available here <<< -
That firmware is a beta version. I'd suggest you make sure your rudder pedals are correctly configured with DCS before attempting any experiment with the beta firmwares and software (there's nothing wrong with the current versions). [ the beta versions are available via VKB's russian forum - here's a tiny procedure with the links ]
-
@Shannonb1: And please, let us know if you have solved your problem. Also, you can test your rudder response with that handy tool. (you'll have to select the correct device in the drop-down list) ----- Apparently, people are trying to copy VKB's clever design. It looks like some cheap version with bike crank arms :megalol: (the obvious mechanical stress on that thing hurts my eyes) What about an optional-high-G-proof high-grip upgrade:

Fat Mamba MkIII is back!!!!
Bourrinopathe replied to RFC Rudel's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
They did list the base-only on their (Russian) pre-order website for a time but it's not available anymore. The last units may have been sold with the Vintage Fat Black Mamba limited offer. You might want to ask them directly (sales_en (at) vkb-sim.pro) but I won't be too optimistic. Your best chance to order a metal gimbal would be to wait for the upcoming Gunfighter series (production scheduled for March). The modular design should include a Warthog stick adapter (I'm not sure there's an official confirmation though). -
X-55 Rhino Hotas Issues and Problems
Bourrinopathe replied to Raven434th's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Same here. The v7.0.53.6 drivers have fixed my BSoD issue for now (support sent me the same link). I didn’t test it (W10 64) thoroughly but there's no problem so far. Better late than never… -
Wow! That Kuznetsov looks wonderful! Thanks for the info Silver_Dragon! At last, we'll be able to crash-land on the personnel.

X-55 HOTAS Rhino - good stories
Bourrinopathe replied to jaznit's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I'm using a X-55 throttle for about a year and a half now. Mostly for DCS but it's been used many hours with Elite Dangerous. The number of rotaries and switches for the price is really good but do not expect top-notch quality and durability. I currently have an issue with the throttle position disabling some buttons response. When the throttle is in the middle position, a few buttons do not trigger any input. I have to move the throttle back or forth to use these buttons. It probably has something to do with the wiring. I like most of the ergonomics but the overall plastic feel and quality is underwhelming. Also the mouse nipple is really cheap and mostly unusable. I would not recommend it as the software solution and tech support are not up to my expectations when it comes to the reliability I need for the flight/combat sims. If I had to choose again, I'd go for a CH Products Pro Throttle, even if there's no dual throttle and less buttons/rotaries. Imho, quality over quantity is a better choice. -
No more traffic on the strip Las Vegas
Bourrinopathe replied to jef32's topic in DCS: Nevada Test and Training Range
Yes. Maybe something's gone wrong with a code line or something. I know the traffic settings were not implemented yet, so maybe it's something related. Or something completely different. I agree traffic is also important for the sense of scale and relative speed, especially for the helos. No idea how their workforce is assigned to the numerous tasks on the priorities list so I guessed, if it's not fixed and it was functional in an earlier version, it will be back soon. I like to think they're focused on more important things (not that traffic is not important). -
You can also make a silicone paste made of plumbing clear silicone, acrylic paint, and corn starch. You will end up with something like the Sugru mouldable glue. It's easy to remove without harming your monitor and it's cheap. (there are many recipes)

No more traffic on the strip Las Vegas
Bourrinopathe replied to jef32's topic in DCS: Nevada Test and Training Range
DCS being a combat simulation, I think it's understandable the traffic is not at the top of the list. Just for the record: the rear vehicle lights were missing at first and they did correct the issue. ED knows we love flying the sim just for fun and they'll even be providing new casinos in the future. We just have to be patient. In the meantime we still can test our aerobatic skills over the strip. Just my two cents of course. -
A bug report could not hurt as the key binding is available but the function still not implemented. I assume it's already listed somewhere on ED's to-do-list though. *how to report a (Su-27) bug*

Welcome back to DCS, Ramjet ;) The modules should be downloaded from the module manager. The updater should import the valid content from your current 1.5 version to the 2.0 alpha. Just expect some download as there are several quick action missions available for the modules (they are Nevada-specific). Copying the controls profiles from 1.5 to 2.0 should be safe enough but ED advised against copying them over for the betas (but this may be specific). As the core engine is the same, everything should be fine, though. Performance wise, you might want to try the Nevada terrain with the Flat Shadows setting ON. Have fun!

Just a very quick test. It's definitely possible to modify the default A300s texture: I changed the aircrafts.varyhouselod4.1.diffusetexture.tif.dds from Aircrafts.texture.zip located in \Mods\terrains\Nevada\Models\Aircrafts For some reason the default specular texture is from another company and does not match the default diffuse texture as it should.

[Nevada terrain] winter version planned?
Bourrinopathe replied to Bourrinopathe's topic in DCS Core Wish List
I'm not familiar with the region but based on the pictures I found, there's snow. (mountains west of Las Vegas) Red Rock Canyon valley just west of LV. (after a winter snow storm) -
[Nevada terrain] winter version planned?
Bourrinopathe replied to Bourrinopathe's topic in DCS Core Wish List
Ah. Thanks Phantom. The thread has been moved in the "wishlist" but it was just a question really. I'd infinitely prefer ED to polish the terrain, adding the improved ATC, the new cloud/weather system, grass and cluttering, airbases/airfields, and such before anything else. -
Hi there, It's probably been discussed earlier, but I couldn't find the thread. Please, point me the way if you can. Is there any plan to add a winter version of the terrain? I'm perfectly aware it would be a tremendous amount of work and based on the ongoing priorities, a winter version seems logically unlikely (imho). With the imminent Red Flag exercises starting basically just now, I was obviously wondering how the NTTR would look at this time of year. I just googled "Nevada desert winter". Just curious (not related to the "DCS wishlist" thread) :smilewink:

With v1.5.2 the ground colors are really warm...
Bourrinopathe replied to Skulleader's topic in DCS Core Wish List
Hi Skull, You could try Reshade. Apparently it's working with EDGE. Take a look at this thread. There may be some issue with the DLC campaign. I didn't try it myself but I used Reshade with another well known flight sim and the rendering and effects are easy to tweak and activate/deactivate (using Mediator.exe). -

No more traffic on the strip Las Vegas
Bourrinopathe replied to jef32's topic in DCS: Nevada Test and Training Range
That's what happens when crazy people keep buzzing the strip with military jets! Also: I tried with different traffic settings and it didn't change a thing. Maybe they're implementing the different traffic settings or simply clearing the roads to build the new casinos ;) -
X-55 Rhino Hotas Issues and Problems
Bourrinopathe replied to Raven434th's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I have the very same thing in the throttle properties. The current W10 64 drivers and software are the same they released as beta versions (same version numbers and sizes) (and I reinstalled both, using these "official" versions). And unfortunately they didn't suggest anything. As everything was ok with W8.1, I really think they have to improve the W10 versions. -
X-55 Rhino Hotas Issues and Problems
Bourrinopathe replied to Raven434th's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
No idea what goes wrong but almost every time I have this one: SaiKa215.sys and its buddies are in Windows\System32\drivers. I just reproduced that BSOD and I tried to start my OS with the throttle unplugged. I plugged it back in, and it does not crash when I switch profiles back and forth that way, but it crashes if I turn the Modes selector switch. If the throttle is connected before start-up, it crashes when I switch from a custom profile to another one. I even tried to switch back to the default and notably basic profile before selecting another custom profile but it does not trick the beast. For now, the best way to change profile is to get out of the cockpit, go get a drink while it's rebooting, and then hop into the new aircraft with the fresh profile ready to kick-in. Much more realistic. That must be a feature, not a bug. Saitek (I had no issue with W8.1 and the previous non-64bit W10 beta drivers) -
X-55 Rhino Hotas Issues and Problems

Ah thanks. I'll give it a shot. My throttle is usually at 100% because it's also my headset stand with the dust cover on. Tricky though. -
X-55 Rhino Hotas Issues and Problems
Bourrinopathe replied to Raven434th's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I hope you'll be more fortunate than me then ;) I submitted my ticket in december (the 15th) and the support only asked for some additional information since (back in december). Also, thanks to the X-55 driver/software, the BSOD occured at Windows startup a few times (SaiKa215.sys involved). I'm starting to think the X-55 is jealous of my other devices  -
