  1. Hi Schumi, at least you were able to get some better FPS, hope this will have an effect on your decision in making a break from DCS We need every pilot we can get For me the difference between 45 FPS I got with the GTX 1080Ti and the >60 FPS I actually have is really noticeable. It feels much more fluent and I was even able to raise some settings (shadows). So I hope I was able to bring a little bit joy back in terms of DCS.
  2. I found similar cracks at my Warthog but they did not cause any malfunction of the stick. Anyway I contacted the TM support and was able to buy a new part. I don´t know the name of the part in TM language anymore nor the price. But the new part also shows cracks in the meantime. But if you have a careful look at the funktion of thew stick you will see that the white ring is the one to be the "bearing". What you can do as well is to install everything in 4 positions as you can install it in 90 deg angles with the same funktion. What I figured out is that I have play in one position and no play in the other. And in the third there is a slight stickyness etc. So it is worth playing around with this a little. Anyway, the anser to your initial question is yes, you can buy the black part incl. the white ring at TM. If you can add a picture to your request this is helpful, otherwise they ask you to upload it to a specific folder they send you the link for.
  3. Hi Schumi, one last approach which came back to my mind. I had issues with FPS years ago. Finally it was something in my Exports which caused this behavior. After renaming the Export folder in the DCS folder (in the Saved Games folder on drive C:) the FPS were much higher as I already expected something to reduce the FPS, even though the GPU was at 99% utilization. At least worth to have a look at. Generally I´m that much addicted to DCS that I would never take it into consideration to pause flying it. For me 50 FPS would be reasonably OK. But this is my personal preference. It was great to chat with you as I´m always happy to help and hardware/FPS topics are my favourite ones Take care, Xoxen
  4. Hi Sanc, based on my experience I gathered during my last upgrades (i7 4790K --> 5800X and GTX 1080Ti --> RTX 3080). I can conclude that the CPU upgrade brough no benefit at all. The GPU Upgrade brought appr. 50% more FPS. At your resolution I would say a GPU upgrade will raise your performance, nothing else. For sure an upgrade of the CPU is future proof and finding a GPU for a reasonable price is like winning in the lottery. Install MSI Afterburner and use the On Screen Display to see the utilization of your CPU and GPU. If your GPU is running at 99-100% all the time, you got the proof that it is limiting your system. If it is running below that, most probably the CPU will be the limiting factor. Take care.
  5. Can you please tell me how much FPS you have now in the King of the hill mission. With my hardware it is 40 FPS with all settings identical to yours. So I would expect a plus of 10% because of the Ti you have. With that information you can see if you are at least where you should be with your hardware in DCS. What I wonder is the fact that when switching from the RX 6800 XT to the RTX 3080 I already had 6 FPS more with your settings. I know that between the GTX 1080Ti and the RX 6800 XT there was about 10% difference. I only can assume that the gain in FPS should be around 12-15 FPS switching from the 1080Ti to the 3080Ti at your settings. Can you confirm this? All my testing I did for you were already with a up to date CPU, so the gain of 4-5 FPS by simply switching to a new CPU isn´t that bad from my point of view. I guess you know this already but this video is very helpful in regards of optimizing the settings as it shows the impact of each setting and the visual benefit. Attached file is what I wrote down as a conclusion for me. I guess you can get much more out of your machine by fiddling around with the settings. I bet if you use my settings for comparison reason your new Computer will show its strength. The mentioned settings (MSAA, SSAA etc.) are known to be hardware killers. DCS 2.7 Settings.txt
  6. These are sad news. I exactly know what you must feel like. I did an upgrade of the CPU first and saw even 1 FPS less than before. I guess the combination of MSAA 4x, SSLR on and SSAO on sucks up all the performance in your system as I saw a much higher benefit from the 1080Ti to the 3080. Were you able to have a more stable FPS? Edit: Are your RAM settings already maxed out?
  7. Any news about your new CPU?
  8. I'm curious about the outcome.
  9. Happy Birthday and enjoy it as much as you can!
  10. I paid appr. 40 EUR for what is displayed on the picture from Thrustmaster.
  11. Hi Tree_Beard, I have a similar system like the one you want to go for. The CPU is sightly smaller but this should give you an idea of what to achieve: Except of SSAA, SSLR and SSAO I put everything on max settings at 1440p resolution and achieve 75 FPS in the F-16 Mission King of the hills. Simply start the mission and do not change the view. If you want me to test other settings please let me know. Cheers, Xoxen
  12. Hi Bossco82, I am of the opinion that this will improve over time as AMD is known for getting more performance out of existing hardware as a result of better driver support. I always had Nvidia but read, that this was the case for the 5x00 series as well. If I read anything which could help to feed your curiosity I will let you know. I simply was too impatient to wait for it. Edit: And maybe Vulcan will bring even better support. But also here I was too impatient.
  13. Hi Bossco82, I did not test other games with triples, so my knowledge is for 1440p. There both cards are comparable with slight advantage of the 3080. If you have a look here (link), you can see comparisons of 3x 1080p and 3x 1440p with different settings. Overall I can say I was very satisfied with the AMD card but not in DCS and triples. As I´m playing DCS (nearly) exclusively, I needed to go the other way. Based on all of my observations the AMD card is good up to 4K and then the gap becomes larger. Most probably related to the VRAM speed and connection. Someone in another thread mentioned something like this.
  14. I owned an RX 6800 XT and now have a RTX 3080. I run 3 screens at 7680 x 1440 and the high resolution is something the AMD card does not like. The Nvidia beats the AMD card by appr. 50%. The specs are in my sig.
  15. This should be possible. In DCS settings you insert the overall resolution you want to get displayed and in the monitor lua you control the position DCS should display. You need to be in windowed mode. If you send a picture of your settings and your monitor lua and a sketch of what exactly your goal is I will try to help you.
  16. Hi Marvinknine, I will try to help as it does not sound that complicated. If I understand you right you only want to have DCS on the SECONDARY with a resolution of 2560x1440 and it is located on the right side and your MAIN will not be used in DCS at all. In DCS itself you need to set the resolution to 4480x1440 in the settings menu (below picture is just for your reference and displays my settings). This covers the overall resolution for both displays. You need to do so as your SECONDARY is located on the right side and DCS starts calculating from the upper left corner (0,0), which includes your MAIN as it is included into this calculation because of Windows. Then you need to modify the "1Camera.lua" to display everything on the SECONDARY. The MAIN will most probably show a black screen, but this should not hurt you. This is how it should look like. The name "1 screen Marvinknine" is what shows up in the DCS monitors pull down menu (see first picture), independent of the file name (which can remain "1camera.lua" or something to identify it in a better way). You need to take care that your center starts at your SECONDARY and this is 1920 pixels on the X-axis and 0 on the Y-axis. The resolution you want to play DCS with is 2560x1440 and this is what width and height display. The GUI should also be displayed on the SECONDARY only and respectively you do the same thing like at the CENTER. Finally you need to add the line UIMainView = GUI to show the GUI on the SECONDARY. I hope this helps you to get what you want. In case of any question feel free to contact me again. Xoxen P.S.: You could use your MAIN to export instruments like MFCD, RWR etc.
  17. Hi Belphe, I´m running 3x 2560x1440 resolution. It highly depends on what your expectations are settings wise. If you follow this link you will see a comparison of different settings and different triple display resolutions incl. my actual settings and resolution. Link What I can say is that an RTX 3080 is by far superior obove an RX 6800 XT. I had the opportunity to test both and Nvidia beats it by over 40%. You may also have a look at this link to see some more info. Link 2 Generally I can say the CPU isn´t that important, the GPU brings the FPS at that resolution. Upgrading from an i7 4790K to an 5800X did not bring any benefit with the same GPU. To achieve reasonable frames with good quality settings you would need something like a RTX 3070 or higher. In the following you see my actual settings. On a busy Syria Server I can easiliy be above 40 FPS on the ground. In the sky I´m mostly around 60 (plusminus). On the Marianas I am slightly below 40 over Guam, but with my hardware you will get what you want. If you have a look at the links, you will also find a link to a shader mod which brings a huge boost in the 3x 1440p (MOD). If you have any further specific questions, don´t hesitate to ask me accordingly.
  18. Hi Specter, the G2 comes with high resolution on both eyes (2160x2160 when I remember right). I´m running a triple screen setup (7680x1440) and updated my PC this year and was in a similar situation, but the other way around (first CPU, then GPU with a time shipft of 3 month). I should have listened to what MSI Afterburner OSD clearly told me. At the time of the upgrade I ran a GTX 1080 Ti combined with a i7 4790K. The utilization of the GPU was at 100% at that time. The CPU still had enough room left. Switching to a Ryzen 7 5800X did not change the situation at all (GPU 100%, CPU now even lower). I thought about DDR3 --> DDR4 and new technique as well but the benefit was not there, in fact I lost 1 FPS in a given scene. An upgrade to an RX 6800 XT brought an additional 10% (same thing, GPU utilized at 100%, CPU was bored). Very disappointing for a 2200 EUR investment (I´m not against the AMD card, it performs well at 1080p and 1440p, also 4k, but not 3x 1440p). Finally I bought a RTX 3080 which brough 50% more FPS in the mentioned scene (I use this for comparison). Again the GPU is at 100%, now the CPU is utilized a little higher, but still not at its limits. Conclusion: Install MSI Afterburner and have a look on what your PC is doing (you can watch every single CPU core with it to exclude that one of it runs also at 100%). If you see the GPU utilized at 100%, a CPU upgrage will barely help you. If it is below, push the trigger I hope this helps. Xoxen P.S.: I had 32 GB DDR 3 before and on a crowded Syria Server it was filled completely. Now with 64 GB DDR 4 I saw it filled up to 42 GB. But it was nothing I noticed in the Cockpit. Based on my experience DCS takes what it gets, but this does not necessarily result into better or more fluent performance.
  19. Hi Dave, I made the same experience in DCS. If your GPU already worked at the limit, a new CPU does not make it faster. Please have a look at my thread over here Link to my thread Maybe it is helpful and shows my disappointment when I did my upgrade. Don´t get me wrong with the final change of the GPU, for me the AMD card was not benefitial because of the high resolution I´m running DCS with. What resolution are you running it? Take care and heads up, Xoxen
  20. Thanks, enough information so far to take the decision to wait and see.
  21. Hi Silent Sierra, I just upgraded my PC in a few steps and I hope I can answer your questions in a proper way, based on my experiences. Intel or AMD? I switched from a i7 4790K to a 5800X and did not see any difference in FPS when I had my GTX 1080 Ti. So based on my experience DCS is very much GPU dependent. So I strongly believe that both vendors will give you long term performance. Actually I would say Intel is over AMD. It´s hard to say what will be in two years. But honestly, I believe both will make you happy in DCS. Will DCS World 2.7+ in the future need more thant 32GB? This hghly depends on what you want to do. You mention that you are mor the single player. Here I would say 32 GB could be enough. Enough for 10 years? Hard to say but based on the experience of the last 10 years I doubt it will be enough. I just bought a PC with 64 GB and had over 40 GB utilized on a heavy Multi Player Server in Syria (4ya server). So I believe in 10 years we will see 64 GB as a standard, more heading into the direction of 128 GB. I bought two times 32 GB, so I could upgrade to 128 GB if I´m able to get the same RAM later on. nVidia or AMD? Will you stay at 1080p? Then it doesn´t matter. I just bought a RX 6800 XT and it runs good at 1440p. But I run 3x 1440p and here the RTX 3080 is better. How do I know? I sold the AMD card and bought a Nvidia card. In lower resolutions the difference is minor, in high resolutions like my 7680x1440 the Nvidia is much much better. I would say appr. 40% more speed in direct comparison. If you plan to change your reesolution, e.g. for VR, I would go for Nvidia. Even at my high resolution I don´t see any differenc between the AMD`s 16 GB VRAM vs. Nvidia`s 10 GB VRAM. I gave AMD a chance but will not do so that fast again. Conclusion: CPU doesn´t matter that much anymore, GPU go for Nvidia. Just my 2 cents.
  22. Hi, thanks for the wishes. I´m really happy with this card. I just did a quick test to compare your settings with my hardware. I used your settings, 3 Screens, your resolution and got the following results: I did the same again with my settings, 1 camera and my resolution: As a result we have 34 vs. 40 FPS (+17%) and 47 vs. 68 FPS (+44%). Both without the usage of the Mod. With activated Mod I achieved 80 FPS instead of the 47 (+70%). I did not find the time for further testing but I believe this already shows the extra power I achieved by switching to the 3080. Xoxen
  23. Finally I was able to put hands on a RTX 3080. If I was able to gather around 10% more performance from the 1080 Ti to the 6800 XT I now see more than 50% more FPS. Wow, I´m amazed and happy I took the hard decision to kick out the AMD card and come back to the green side of life. Red seems not to be my colour with triples at 1440p.
  24. Today I received my new RTX 3080 as I was not satisfied with the performance of the RX 6800 XT at triples. What should I say, difference like night and day. When switching from my old GTX 1080 Ti to the RX 6800 XT I gathered around 10% more performance. With the RTX it is more than 50%. So triples with an RTX 3080 are definately performing well. On a busy Syria server I got always more than 50 FPS. If I find the time I will compare my benchmark I did earlier with the new card. Still the card is at 100% utilization and still the GPU is the bottleneck in my system. But this is complaining on a very high level.
  25. I have the same issue. For me it looks like it has been acknowledged but ED is not willing to sort this out, maybe because of technical/code reasons. But it is really bad to have this issue as it makes it harder to benefit from the exports.
