CPU dropping to 15% usage, VR, who is smart?
jurinko replied to fastfed's topic in Game Performance Bugs
Check if it ain't overheating and auto throttling. Is the cpu fan turning and well attached? -
Strange FPS drop over trees/low to ground
jurinko replied to Flanky83's topic in Game Performance Bugs
Down low over a forest it stutters. On flat fields it runs smoother. Try Quick mission mig-15 take off, this is the smoothest one because of scarce trees and houses. -
[Official] SimShaker for Aviators
jurinko replied to f4l0's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Finally got my JetPad, downloaded and installed Wings and Aviators and everything worked perfectly from the get go both in DCS and IL2. Today I started PC and in the moment PC was on, the JetPad started vibrating, four motors in the bottom part. Did not matter if it was also connected via USB, you just plug it into 240V plug and it goes on, the only way is to stop it is to switch it off in the Gametrix control unit or unplug. It is not a software issue, as it starts vibrating when Windows starts or it is plugged just into another plug with no connection to the PC. When in Aviators program and press test, I feel it vibrates left and right as before, but on top of steady vibration. I flew a bit without it and I miss it immediately lol. Anyone has such experience? Is the control unit the culprit? Thanks. -
5600x, 3070, 32gb ram, x570 based mobo, HP G2, Win10 It is like some internal throttle was removed, I rock the wings and the scenery moves smoothly like in reality, even above small cities. Only low in the woods or big cities the picture shimmers a bit since I am on almost highest settings, 1.0/100% resolution. This is something I imagine Vulkan should bring.

75%. Can't wait to feel the shake with the Simshaker jetpad. Damn the customs office, they are prolly sitting on it. In case no one mentioned it, A-4 Skyhawk module is an awesome piece of work. You guys have made a great time for thousands, like Beatles or so. Salute! -
What more, I have feeling that the whole picture in VR is more stable. DCS VR picture was always a strain for my eyes, like it was micro flickering compared to VR in Il-2. If I wiggled the virtual stick, its movement had micro stutter but now everything is smooth and firm like looking on real objects, stick moves like real. I am very pleased. Thanks to OP for sharing the fix. Edit: roughly at the same time I unchecked "Gaming mode" in GeForce Experience, so I will re-check.

Awesome stuff. I am back in 2.5.6 fps wise or so. Thanks!

Back in time I spent 3 years working on free map for old IL-2 so I know.. Today I downloaded it and it is a neat little jet, cramped cockpit but I felt like at home from the beginning. On par with official modules. Thank you for your work, talent and perseverance. S! -
Seat tilted 13 deg backwards (the base), the back part 16 deg backwards (copied from F-5 jet seat picture), the stick in mid-thigh 4 inches from balls, throttle 1 inch backwards, pedals raised but not as high as in F-16 where you half lay. My forearms are level with the ground when put on HOTAS. In most cockpits hands and legs are positioned as in VR. Edit the Warthog stick has 7 inch extension.

Ok pilots I bought it, JetPad that is. One quick question, I plan to make my own F-16 tilted style seat from wood, is the JetSeat cushion enough to be put on hard surface, or do I need a padding underneath? -
Now you lock that elusive pot of gold via JHMCS like a pro!

I am hypnotizing the 22 November in Patch Status for some time.

Yes they can be tossed in CCIP but the piper behaves like they were extreme draggy or chute dumb bombs. You need to be almost overhead of the target. CBU87s can be released in reasonable distance.

Set sslr, ssao, global illumination to off. They improve shadows and lightning in the cocpit, but the difference is not that big and they eat up fps. Set ground shadows to flat. Try water medium. By this combination you should get good fps increase with barely any change in how the sim looks.

Performance (FPS) loss from 2.7.6 to 2.7.7
jurinko replied to Limaro's topic in Game Performance Bugs
Great news. I wonder where was the knot in that graphic jungle: memory mishandling, hidden loop in the code, double shader generation. I am a chemist: when we screw up, it just blows up, easy. -
DCS Performance with VR - What is truely needed?
jurinko replied to lardo5150's topic in Virtual Reality
Half year back with version 2.6.4 I ran DCS at 100% res with almost highest setting with Reverb G2 and it was fluid as honey. Now it is kinda screwed performance wise and I had to tone down MSAA to zero and ground shadows to flat and still it is not as good as before. We have new clouds and far better water, but anyway.. 5600x, 3070, 32GB ram -
It is available only for old F16 model AI (quick dogfight mission 4:4 MiG-29S vs F-16)

Performance (FPS) loss from 2.7.6 to 2.7.7
jurinko replied to Limaro's topic in Game Performance Bugs
This happened in the past as well. Even if looking at bare land at lowered settings, the ground stuttered. Then after some patches it improved again. Compared to 2.6.4. I need to switch off either 2xmsaa or completely turn off ground shadows to get previous performance. It is a pity since it looks so good. -

Check also if your DCS 4-way switch is in Return position after messing with UFC/DED. -
Performance (FPS) loss from 2.7.6 to 2.7.7
jurinko replied to Limaro's topic in Game Performance Bugs
2.7.8. is about the same as 2.7.7., e.g. worse than 2.7.6. VR preset at ss100/1.0 runs absolutely smoothly but looks awful. In 2.6. it ran smoothly even at almost highest settings. Now I need to downgrade this and that and it is still worse than before. Win 10, 5600x, 32GB, 3070 -
I flew in MiG-29A military simulator at our airbase twice - 100% realistic cockpit and the view was projected on half globe ahead, map looked a lot like hi-res google earth. I can only say DCS MiG feels like the real sim, requiring a lot of trimming at different power and awful lot of power. Here is a long interview (English subtitles) with Czechoslovak MiG-29 pilot, who flew MiG-21, 23 and 29. He says 21 was made to be GCIed onto enemy's tail and not for dogfight, 23 had better R-23 rockets and could effectively fire at front quarter but its maneuverability was not much better. But MiG-29 had again better R-27s with triple range and R-73 and R-60, which were very effective. And the aerodynamics of MiG-29 was totally different, allowed them to make before unheard maneuvers and not falling into spin.

There is some graphical conflict, maybe related to shadows. DCS 2.7.7. runs significantly better with ground shadows on Default than on Flat.

There has been further toning down of the sea surface reflectivity in the latest hotfix. It looks very good now.
