  1. Also, why is there this dead-zone anyway? In the real aircraft, as soon as the pilot's feet are on the pedals, AP HOLD is deactivated. The easiest way to simulate this would be to remove the deadzone entirely and simulate AP HOLD off as soon as ANY deflection on the pedals is detected. Or am I misunderstanding something completely here?
  2. I wish someone would do a proper tutorial on how to properly fly the Mi24p (WITH THE YAW AP CHANNEL ON). All the ones I could find online are at least 7 months old, and or are flown by people who never turn on the channel.
  3. Sorry, edited my post. The AP channels and logic work differently in the Mi8 compared to the Mi24p. This is why purists might have a problem with this. I will have to test the Mi24p again, since I haven't flow in it in a while, both without springs and with springs installed. From your quick tests, is the Mi24P much better behaved when exiting coordinated turns now and when doing small corrections on strafing runs with the YAW AP channel on?
  4. Yes, I believe that would probably make a world of difference. However you also have to take into account that the AP channels work very differently in the Mi8 compared to the Mi24p. So, good catch on that one but would the Mi24P purists have a problem with it though?
  5. The mini preview videos from Wags should be enough to show you that progress is being made on the module. Why would any other status update be necessary?
  6. This has been my experience as well. It felt like the YAW AP Heading Hold system would fight my inputs when using "normal" pedals with springs in them, when doing small inputs. This also sometimes happened when exiting coordinated turns where if I didn't time it exactly right, the AP heading hold would turn on at the wrong moment and prevent me from returning to a desired course, or in other words I would keep having to correct my course with pedals after every single turn, which felt like something that should not be happening in any kind of helicopter AP system. The result was that I now fly without springs in my pedals, and with the AP channel completely turned off. I really hope that someone from ED takes a look at this behavior and implements a solution that would allow us to use this system correctly. (Even at the expense of making it different than in a real HIND since we do not have microswitches in our pedals)
  7. Where did you get this 18% number? Are you sure that's correct? I thought that the microswitches that disable heading hold are activated as soon as the pedals are deflected, and that it doesn't have to be a certain % of deflection?
  8. I wasn't surprised that the Phantom was in development, what just a little bit taken aback that Heatblur was doing it and not Eagle Dynamics.
  9. From the FAQ it should be the F4-E, which indeed did have the gun. With that said, I think there will be a lot of people who will be surprised when they find out that the Phantom only became the killing machine it did because of the training it's crews received. I think the the Mig21BiS will still represent a pretty formidable threat in WVR fights.
  10. Yeah, complex missions are very taxing now especially in multiplayer. Unless the core engine gets a significant performance upgrade (with regards to unit count, AI, explosions, triggers, objectives) then any kind of dynamic campaign is probably going to be DOA.
  11. I guess I'm a sad panda Was hoping that the un-announced module would be an F-111, but I guess Heatblur went for the low-hanging fruit with the Phantom. Looks like the Aardwark is not something that generates a lot of buzz, and even if a third party ever decides to do an interdiction\bomber, if I'm being completely honest with myself, they will probably go for a more popular airframe. Oh well, at least I got to fly the F14. Gratz to all the Phantom fans, and I am looking forward to shooting your F4s out of the skies in the future.
  12. I hope that the dude doing the comparison realises that the DCS Mustang is (probably) loaded with machine guns, ammo, and a full tank of fuel. Probably some more WW2 kit in there that is missing from the civilian version he is flying.
  13. Im sorry but you are wrong. The tech is definitely there. The G2 is a fairly decent mid range headset that has great visual clarity (in the sweet spot) and when setup correctly it works great. What isn't there yet is the performance in DCS World. That's it. Back on topic, manage your expectations people. The only module I'm actually expecting to drop this year is the Apache. I hope we see some more core improvements in DCS World, but again: I'm not holding my breath. I've been around the block a few times.
  14. I don't subsscribe to SUBS17's particular flavor of insanity, and consider myself a fairly skeptical person but I do consider the UFO\UAP phenomenon real. Let me make it clear, I don't believe in conspiracy theories, and I don't think that "It's Aliens" is a satisfactory answer. I do think that there is some kind of phenomenon, which is fairly well documented, and to answer your question: It' isnt a secret. We just have no idea what it is, or whether it even represents contact. There is simply too much stigma around it that not a single scientific agency want's to take it seriously or invest any money into it's research so that no one with any serious equipment or funds has undertaken to investigate it to any great length. If you are interested in a sociological and psychological treatise of the subject there is a pretty good book on it that doesn't delve into the "What" but more into the "Why" this phenomenon is not taken seriously by any government agency in the world, by Leslie Kean. An investigative pulitzer prize winning journalist.
  15. Is there a possibility that Heatblur will publish an updated roadmap, now that the Phantom has been announced? There are at least three upcoming modules in the pipeline that we now know about, and while the Phantom seems to be in focus I would like to know in which order they are planning to release them. I already have my favorite module (The Tomcat) and I don't particularly care about the Phantom, so I would like to know what's coming after it, if indeed that is the module that they are planning to release first. Thanks. P.S. I don't care about dates. I'd just like to know in what order Heatblur plans to release their upcoming modules, or indeed if they even have some kind of internal release schedule.
  16. I haven't seen ay official announcements so I'll post my question here, Heatblur have several modules under development currently. Is the F-4 confirmed to be the next module that will be released in early access from Heatblur?
  17. Just checking as I haven't flown the Hind in quite a while. Is this still the behavior that the module currently exhibits?
  18. Just to throw in my 2c, yeah I think the Huey is a great choice. It was my first helo in DCS too (to be fair at the time it was the only one that was available) and it was huge pain to learn, but it taught me the basic skills needed to fly all Helos.
  19. No, you were addressing me specifically. I was NOT asking for a review, I was just asking a simple question, and received a simple and helpful answer. Someone asked me why I didn't install the module to check it out personally, and I answered that question honestly and for some reason you didn't like my answer and had to ride in on your high horse and belittle me on this very public forum. That was rude, but instead of apologizing you are once again belittling me for engaging with people on this forum, instead of reading a manual. I don't think that's very fair.
  20. I have a 3090RTX and I can confirm that the Hind is the most demanding module I've flown in DCS. I don't own them all however, but for comparison the F14 was the most demanding module until the arrival of the Hind. On my machine this noticeable when flying in VR, even without looking at frametimes or FPS counters.
  21. Thankfully these types of comments come from a minority in this otherwise great community. Everyone else who actually replied to my original query thanks for the replies. It means quite a bit to me, thanks guys.
  22. Of course not everyone feels that way, but it's definitely something to consider when thinking about switching to VR.
  23. You just gave half an answer to your own question. It's great, but it's a huge hassle. Requiring some of the most powerful hardware to even run properly, and even then it has a lot of issues. the absolute WORST part of VR is that you can't go back to 2d in Simulations. Ever.
  24. Thanks for that very informative post Alphamale. I don't think I could have gone on with my life, if I had not read that post, which contained so much relevant and important information. That part about putting money down for early access is especially accurate, but what really hits home is your interest in the module. Which is now waning. For some reason. Probably the best thing I read all year.
  25. Thanks for the replies guys. I'd rather not learn bad piloting habits, so it looks like this mod is a no-go for me at this time. Hopefully they get FFB to work properly at some point in the future, because it actually looks like a really well done mod otherwise.
