is this too good to be true?
Lurker replied to Tom Kazansky's topic in Weather System Bugs & Problems
What good is dynamic weather if the rain is broken and I can't see it in VR? Or the performance of weather is so horrible that no servers (or even in singleplayer) run with any weather? -
Cockpit Video of the TrueGrit Eurofighter !
Lurker replied to Eagleflieger's topic in DCS: Eurofighter
Well, that looks like the NTTR map running in DCS World. Probably a proprietary licence of some kind I would wager. Cool to see the Typhoon in a flyable state. -
This is why I've not pre-ordered the AH64 and have stopped playing DCS World. I don't think my system is a slouch, but in VR things have gotten pretty bad with the recent patches. I could go back to 2d, but it's not the same thing at all, once you go VR you can't really go back to 2d in any kind of sim really. With that said I'm cautiously optimistic, and will probably be getting the Apache once I read some performance reviews of how it flies in VR by the VR buffs who regularly post on these forums. Hopefully by then some more performance fixes will be incoming to DCS World.

Trim in the Hind is similar to most other helicopters. When you press trim you move the cyclic where you want it to be and then release it. At that point the cyclic will stay in the position where it was last trimmed.

You gotta be F$%&ing kidding me...

Why not just go back to Windows 10? I mean why upgrade to Windows11 in the first place? Never, ever be an early adopter of Microsoft products, especially their OSes.

Manage your expectations when signing up for early access. Especially when it comes to DCS World. When entering EA always make sure that you will be happy with just what is available at early access. That way you will never be disappointed. Unless something ends up being broken, which used to work. That is always a bummer, and with regards to the core of DCS World is always a possibility, as I've recently experienced myself.

I think that this is a reasonable request. However considering how much detail and effort Heatblur pours into all the 3d modeling and texturing of all their modules, it might be a bit too much to ask of them. If it's not too much additional work, it might set a nice precedence and would improve the exeprience of even to 2d users, with minumum spec PCs and graphics cards.

How do you "balance" other modules with the Tomcat?
Lurker replied to Jayhawk1971's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
Easy. I don't fly the other jets. Why drive a 2021 Mini-Van when I can take out the 69 Shelby for a spin? Maybe to take the wife shopping, and the kids to the mall..... -
Turn off ALL curvature. MSFFB2 (or any other joystick) does not work well with curvature in DCS World with most modules.

I'm through with the hype. There is always something around the corner, another module, another terrain, whatever. We are such gullible beasts, us gamers, enthusiasts whatever you want to call us. ED is not to blame for this, we are. I will watch the video, just like everyone else, I just won't "believe" the way most of you "believe". I was very hyped for the Apache, since the Hind turned out to be so much fun in multicrew. Then the DCS bugs and issues started multiplying and roaring their ugly head once more. Well suffice to say, I don't care anymore if the Apache turns out to be the best thing since sliced bread. I visit these forums daily to check on progress, any progress really that will allow me to return and play without issues. When that happens, maybe I'll be excited for what's coming NEXT.

Performance (FPS) loss from 2.7.6 to 2.7.7
Lurker replied to Limaro's topic in Game Performance Bugs
Truer words were never spoken. With the exception that I would replace Heatblur with Eagle Dynamics (since Heatblur has nothing to do with core engine developments). -
Considering the speed at which Eagle Dynamics implements even relatively simple core changes into DCS World, suffice to say that I have little faith in them ever achieving anything close to this, anytime soon.

Wouldn't the rotor downwash get rid of the dust though? I would imagine the same would be true of rainfall, unless it was really pouring. But I imagine the engineers put the wipers there for a reason.
-
No I will not. Neither should anyone. Not after spending thousands of dollars for VR gear that's gathering dust because Eagle Dynamics can't get it's act together. Are you familiar with the sunk cost fallacy principle?
-
Does anyone know? Will the module go full price as soon as it's released or will it still feature a discount, just a smaller one? The reason why I'm asking is because I will definitively not be buying it until it's out in the Wild and I can read and hear some feedback on the VR performance of the Apache and DCS World in general.

I would advise avoiding VR in DCS for the moment. While it is very usable, there are serious performance issues that will leave you disappointed in the long run. Hopefully they will improve this, I have however for now stopped playing due to the constant increases in requirements that I simply cannot afford to follow anymore. (And I own I would say an above average VR system)

You said you tried everything, but I didn't see you mention if you've tried a complete format of your system disk and a fresh reinstall of Windows? That's the only thing that managed to get my G2 to acceptable levels of performance. Not sure where it was going wrong before, but I too came from the Rift S and with the G2 is simply couldn't get it to perform at acceptable levels until I actually reinstalled Windows, WMR, and DCS World from scratch. One other thing to consider, this last beta patch really tanked a lot of people's performance (including my own) which is why I'm currently on hiatus from DCS World and will not be playing it until they either get some of that performance back, or they release their new rendering\multicore engine, whichever comes first.

That's not helpful at all. It's borderline disrespectful and didn't need to be said. I'm happy that the sim is running great for you. For many of us, this is the only "game" in town and for a lot of us this hobby is a passion, one which unfortunately we can experience only through DCS World. Put yourself in our shoes? How would you feel if tomorrow your favorite hobby was no longer available to you, despite the fact that you spent thousands of dollars on it. Poof. Gone. No longer playable. I've refrained from commenting on here, since I have nothing useful to add to the discussion. Either ED fixes their performance, or they don't. But there is no need to be disparaging to people who are rightfully disappointed.

Crazy isn't it? Gz on the CPU, I still think that AMD is the way to go, especially since they will probably be dropping prices to counter Alder lake, but Intel is finally back in the game now which is great for consumers either way.
-
It's also a dog performance wise. Sure they might optimize it a bit more eventually but right now it's a horror show to run in VR.
-
The system from your signature? Did you change settings or have you left them as they were from the previous version?
-
This is a fair question. To which I can only add: Good luck with that. I doubt you will get an answer of the status of the AI on release, apart from "limited functionality or WIP at early access", but hopefully I'm proven wrong by Eagle Dynamics. I think it's always better to err on the side of caution when purchasing any Early Access product, but especially with DCS products. Don't expect anything beyond exactly what is promised at EA, and only purchase if that is satisfactory to you and won't lead to buyers remorse. (Or if you wan't to cash in on the discount and don't care about features at all) I was all set to pull the trigger on the AH64D, but I've since stopped playing DCS World due to core performance issues, and I will only buy another module when or rather "if" these get ironed out at some point in the future.

If you want to call feedback drama, then that's what you want to call it. I'd call it feedback. And feedback is always useful, at least if it's taken seriously. If it isn't well, then that's another issue entirely.
