There is also, always the autostart feature/cheat whatever you want to call it. It will get you up in the air in no time

@Miro I have to dissuade you of something. CPU and GPU load are never good indicators of performance or lack thereof. Sure, sometimes they are useful in determining a problem in certain cases, but for the most part they can not be used to determine whether software is well or badly optimized.

Most of the campaigns within DCS World feature hot-started birds (apart form maybe the first mission).

Even though I will probably be taking a long break from DCS World until Eagle Dynamics fixes the performance issues within the sim, if they ever get around to doing so, I have a question regarding this product: https://flightsimcontrols.com/product/gunfighter-mk-iii-f-14-combat-edition/ Does it come with the listed stick extensions or do they need to be purchased separately? It is not entirely clear from the product info/description. I am mainly looking for a stick that can be used as a cyclic for helicopters, and the adjustable clutch dampers will allow me to use it in this way. (I.E. the stick does not move back to center when pushed off center)

You are wrong, completely and utterly wrong.

Who and for what Would you like to buy any new modules?
Lurker replied to mosqui's topic in Game Performance Bugs
@Lange_666 do you just ignore what everyone posted in this thread? Look at my signature. This has nothing to do with natural upgrade cycles, and throwing more and better hardware at the problem is not the solution! This kind of thing should not be happening on my computer, or on anyone's who has up to date hardware!!! -
Seriously? Check my sig and then tell me again why you think that I should upgrade my graphics card or RAM, and spend thousands of dollars more so I can play DCS World, after I spent thousands of dollars in the past year or so. Because until they fix their performance issues I'm not coming back and all of that money is wasted.

Exactly this. There is no excuse that this game can't run and run well on a 3090RTX. I mean there should be no excuse for it not to run on a 3080 let alone a 3090. Let's see what todays patch brings, but I'm not holding my breath either. For 2.7.6, to get smooth framerates in VR (which is very important) I had to turn down a ton of detail, however I understood that it was a compromise, I know that I can't get all the eye candy to maintain those frame rates. As long as I can get the game to look decently sharp and detailed and maintain smooth flying. The last patch completely destroyed that. So we are going backwards, somehow. Let's hope it was caused by some kind of bug. If that is not the case, then Eagle Dynamics should simply say they are not supporting VR and be done with it. -
Yes the 5900X is a beast, and that whole series of CPUs are consistently better than (current) Intel CPUs in most single or multithreaded apps.

I have nothing but respect for the developers at Eagle Dynamics, I'm sure they are trying hard. But I disagree with the policies of their management, which is improving fidelity at any cost and performance be damned. I have one of the best graphics cards on the market today, and when I have just managed to squeeze a satisfactory performance out of it, ED releases a BETA patch that tanks that performance down to a level where I have to stop playing the sim. Yes I have stopped playing the sim, and I will not be returning until ED get their house in order. I have not pre-ordered the Apache, and I won't be buying any more modules unless they can bring performance back to at least the level it was at with 2.7.6. I have spent so much money on hardware so I could partake in this hobby that I'm feeling a huge letdown at the moment. I have no more money, nor hardware to throw at the problem, I have invested heavily into my system for VR exclusively for DCS World, have managed to get it where I want it, and now I have to stop playing the sim which feels like a huge, very huge letdown. I realize that Vulcan and multicore is coming, but that might be as far away as a year from now (probably more), and the performance when it comes, well I don't want to make predictions but this is Eagle Dynamics we are talking about. I'm not buying ANOTHER 2000$ MSRP graphics card just to be able to play one sim, that would be paramount to a sunk cost fallacy. Sorry if this post is coming across as harsh, but I can't justify anything less than this kind of response. I will still visit the forums from time to time to check on progress, but for now my DCS playing days are over. Peace. -
WB and Legendary just greenlit a sequel, shame they just didn't let Villeneuve film them back to back, but this is still a Win in my book. Movie is awesome (although, the books will always be superior).

Has anyone tried uninstalling ALL mods and doing a slow repair after the update? Maybe something went wrong in the update process itself. Worth a shot, and can't hurt....
-
Are you saying we need to turn ON ground shadows to get MORE performance? I always fly with Terrain Shadows to OFF, since they drastically affect performance in VR.
-
Well to be fair to Eagle Dynamics, they did add some significant updates in this last patch. Petrovich finally got some love, and they added the new ATGM missile with longer range, which is really cool. They are definitely not ignoring Mi24p pilots or the module, we just need a little bit more patience.
-
People are reporting an average of 10 FPS lost, oh boy....here we go again.
-
This sounds very counterintuitive. Why would a perfectly good system, that works perfectly fine in the Mi-8 be so completely overhauled and changed for the Mi-24? Is it like that in the real helicopters? I still feel that the Mi24p that we have in the sim today, is significantly harder to fly than the real thing.
-
Thanks ShaunX, I will see if I can order one.
-
@speed-of-heat have you done any testing with 2.7.7. I wont be able to play until next Monday at the earliest, and was wondering if the new patch brought some more improvements or did it degrade performance, etc.
-
Yes the hardware is to blame, but it's not the hardware you think. For example even though the G2 for example can output (and does output) a great and really high resolution image, the lenses it uses allow us only to see a fraction of that image clearly, the so called "sweet spot". We already have graphics cards that can push the pixels, DCS implementation is pretty great, and is only going to get better and more efficient. The headsets though, yeah well those can and will need a lot of improvement, most importantly in the lens and display department. Let me reiterate, I get monitor like clarity (at least on par with a 1080p maybe even better monitor) in the G2 in the Sweet Spot. Unfortunately that sweet spot is tiny, and I wish I could change that with better lenses or something.

The water shaders do look amazing, but to me it already looked great. Unrelated to the great shaders I'm kind of sad that ED caved to the people who want the unrealistic huge waves on the open sea so that they can have an indication of how high they are flying. From 40 thousand feet you should not be seeing waves. As usual the vocal minority always wins...

Unfortunately not an option, I suck at leftie mousing. Seriously though, I'm looking for a trackball which I could sort of ducktape to my throttle, unfortunately I've yet to find a small and suitable one.
-
Can you please let us know how it works out for you and how it ends up working with the helicopters in DCS World? These are soo damn expensive, but if they are worth every penny, I might bite the bullet.

Heatblur Update - Supersize Me & Public Roadmap
Lurker replied to Cobra847's topic in Heatblur Simulations
I doubt that anyone will do an experimental helicpter like the Commanche, it's probably too classified even if it were viable. This on the other hand though.....;) -
I would kill for this to be implemented. Seriously, this would be the best thing ever. I mean fumbling aroind for the mouse? Instead of just naturally using one of the controllers (which I can conveniently park next to my throttle) to hit switches? Man that would be the best thing ever. That laser pointer thing needs to die.
