So just to get this thread back on topic, I'm gonna go out on a limb and say, all things being equal (including pilot skill) if say an F4-E and a Mig23 (insert best air to air variant here) were to meet, the F4 would absolutely demolish the Mig23 in WVR combat

Progress pictures on the Eurofighter Typhoon
Lurker replied to DashTrueGrit's topic in DCS: Eurofighter
Were any other modules in DCS come with performance charts? I don't think so, but I might have missed that. Also not sure what use a performance chart of the in-game flight model would really tell you, since it's based on the in-game flight model and as such will always be subject to change (unless the developers stop tweaking the flight model, the game engine, the atmosphere, etc. etc. etc.) -
Only flight sim enthusiasts can get excited for MORE pixels....bless you sulliedRocket11 If you assume that these are from in-game renders, I guess the answer would be Yes? Don't forget to turn off anti-aliasing

OpenXR Guide - Deprecated - This time for real (▀̿Ĺ̯▀̿ ̿)
Lurker replied to nikoel's topic in Virtual Reality
So any news on whether Eagle Dynamics will start to officially support this? Seems like it might be a much better bet than SteamVR. It's also not linked to Steam, and coincidentally the Steam store, which can only be a PLUS in ED's eyes right? -
Or you can, and get this it's quite revolutionary, set the right engagement distance for the target and then aim with the cross.

This is a very interesting post.... -
Sorry for going off topic, but I just have to say that is the coolest DIY Cockpit chair that I have ever seen.

Can't the gun compensate the movement of the helicopter?
Lurker replied to dextor's topic in DCS: AH-64D
Private Joker: How can you shoot women and children? Door Gunner: Easy, you just don't lead 'em so much! Ain't war hell? -
There should be a 14 day free trial available soon(tm). If you're on the fence (like me) you can wait for the trial period to try it out.

Great module. Probably my favorite fixed wing, after the F14. Haven't flown her in years, but now I want to.
-
Try changing the expected target size to Large and try again. I think having the 54 go active further from the targets usually works better against the AI.
-
Changing trim settings in the apache is probably equivalent to changing a few lines of code in the source files. What you are asking for is significant texturing work for an artist, and well....it's not like the Yak is going to sell thousands of extra modules because of that change. I sympathize, but it's probably never going to happen. Man-Work hours cost money, and they already have yours.

Please reread what I wrote. I never said that you will stop seeing things in stereo or 3d vision. Just that you will get used to it, or rather to it's special "brand" of VR stereoscopic vision once your brain adapts to these new settings. I remember when I first tried VR. I was blown away by it. I couldn't believe my eyes at the immersion, the speed, the sense of flying at a great height. I still "experience" all of those things but they are nowhere near as exhilarating as the first few months of intensive VR use.
-
I hate to be the party pooper here but what you are seeing here is probably not going to last. As soon as your brain gets acclimatized to the new "depth" perception settings you will lose that "pop-in". It doesn't mean that you will stop seeing the images in 3d, they will still be in 3d, just the same as they already are now but your brain will process them in a way to minimize vertigo and other disorienting effects as you change focus from near to far objects in your VR goggles. What you are probably experiencing now is a subtle version of the same effect that you had when first putting on your VR headsets.

Helmets?

Were you by any chance fully fueled at this point, how much ordnance were you packing?

I don't know about those other people but in my case I was trying to be helpful. I usually appreciate it when people take the time to explain why something I was doing, is considered to be wrong, or doesn't conform to real world procedures or is a bad habbit, etc. etc. etc. But hey, in the end it's just a game. You go ahead and do whatever you feel like.

What if the tanker is now flying at a completely different speed? Relying on the HUD and your instruments when doing AAR is not recommended. Ever.
-
I wouldn't expect miracles in VR with the card you picked out. The performance is simply not there in DCS World.

Does the stutter happen only when you move your head? If you are looking at a fixed position and turn in the helicopter, does the stutter appear?
-
I assume that this kit has some tradeoffs, such as higher drag at higher speeds?

Took me a while to grog this.....

Can you please explain the acronym LMC for us who don't know what it means? Thanks.

What is the typical range that pilots "fly" on the gun. Or do they fly auto, and then lase targets and set the range based on the lase etc? Seems like that's kind of something that would take valuable seconds of time for when you get surprised by a dozen or so guys with AKs in a bush or an apartment block window....
