  1. 67 GB download for me. Yeah, I'd say it's pretty huge.
  2. Sure, but then again you're not a combat pilot in a flying gunship firing a missile downrange at a hostile target. Let me put it like this. In about a months time you will have human gunner co-pilot operators who will be so good at hitting shots in the Hind (including at other helicopters) that people will be accusing them of cheating. Just like how human RIO operators in the F14 are so much better than Jester. (for the most part)
  3. You have just described a situation where the system we have in place is more reliable than an electronic targeting pod, because there is a "human operator" and the system is analog so it can't fail in the way you have described. This is precisely the system that exists in the Hind, if Petrovich is supposed to simulate a trained helicopter co-pilot, then there is absolutely no way that there should be a RNG chance for him to fail at his task in ideal combat conditions. I'm not talking about the Raduga system, but the Petrovich AI itself. Or do you wan't to simulate him having a heart attack or stroke while aiming down sites, or maybe sweat rolling into his eyes? I mean everything else that we have talked about, that's already in the game or is planned to be implemented. But a percentage chance for the AI to just miss a perfectly lined up shot? How does that work? How does that even make sense?
  4. You completely missed the point I'm trying to make. Also, a "pair of binocluars" integrated to a missle system...." Yeah, it's so horrible that for some reason they kept using it for 40 years! Please, provide some evidence of how bad this piece of hardware is, go ahead, We're all ears.
  5. No worries, I thank you for your effort anyway! This is the first bird I'm going to learn to fly from scratch just using VR, so anything that helps is a plus.
  6. We have currently no idea how it even works in VR. Since it's a periscope design, I assume that it has "depth" vision, in real life I mean?
  7. No. It would take almost as long to produce as a completely new airframe. I would much rather that the team behind the Huey takes a stab at the Blackhawk, Seahawk or similar transport\gunship helicopter.
  8. This is pretty good, thank you! Any chance you can make it a little bit more detailed, by adding the approximate location of the switches? For example Close pneumatic Valve (left wall, lower center panel)
  9. I disagree with this. Let me explain it as simply as I can. Would you like it if your Targeting pod arbitrarily missed every once in a while based on a % chance, simply because RNG? I agree that during hard maneuvers it should be very difficult to keep the sighting system "locked" on a target, but as far as I know that is already in the sim and Petrovich uses the system to it's limits, just like a human would. Just because we haven't seen it doesn't mean that Petrovich can't miss, I'm sure he can and will miss based on how well we fly and hard we make it for him to keep sighting the target correctly.
  10. I have a question how long will the F2P period last? Is it indefinite until you use up your 14 days, or is there some time limit on when you can activate it?
  11. How difficult is it to edit the kneeboard? Do you think there is a chance that Eagle Dynamics might include even a simplified start-up checklist for the Hind in there?
  12. The only thing I cared about in the Hind video, was the Hind.
  13. No one want's Petrovich to be superhuman. Currently he is much, much inferior to a human co-pilot. You have to tell him where to look and shoot, or you have to tell him where to fly. Basically he is little more than either a targeting pod, or a basic autopilot mode, depending on which seat you're giving him commands from. He is getting some voiceover lines, which is nice, but I would argue that for him to be a proper co-pilot he should at least be able to call out targets that he can spot and obviously some incoming threats, and wait for it: If he can see them.
  14. This is just very early access. At least we will have the functionality of using ATGMs. It's quite intuitive, but I agree that Petrovich should be able to spot targets by himself and give some basic callouts. It's early days yet, I have asked a very similar question in another thread, hopefully it's coming at some point in the future.
  15. Ok just skimmed over the quick guide manual for the Hind, and I have a few more questions. Will Petrovich be able to "spot" enemy or friendly units at some point during or after early access, and give callouts like approximate distance, heading? (Sort of like Jester in the F14). Will he be able to react to SAM missile trails and dispense countermeasures?
  16. This is another weird point. Why would this damage the sight? I can't think of a logical reason why they would make the sight susceptible to damage from own-ship maneuvers?
  17. I'm gonna have to watch this video a few more times to figure it out exactly. So the way I figure it Petrovich can't find targets unless you designate a target area and only then can you cycle between targets? Once you do, you can fire the missile yourself if you're in range, or you can select free fire and Petrovic will fire it himself. Is that right? Another thing, it looks like that as soon as the missile hits Petrovich "forgets" all about the target site, so you have to go through the whole procedure again? Or is it enough that I simply select another target from the menu, and he will fire on that target? So many questions...
  18. You are right, it won't prevent them from joining those servers. My bad. Most new players don't even know about this "feature" of the kneeboard map. I agree that it's not a big deal, if people want to play DCS as hardcore as it gets, then yeah this should be an option.
  19. Using cannons in this thing looks like a ton of fun, seriously, it looks "SICK AF" I will not lie. The elegance and simplicity of the sighting and ranging system typical Soviet design. It just works. I will have so much fun in this thing. Hopefully I will be able to spot targets without labels in VR (Or maybe Petrovich will help me with this). Seriously, I want to fly this beast as soon as possible and blow things up with rockets and guns Like, yesterday.
  20. I wouldn't worry too much about the developers reading threads on their forum and deciding on whether to release their modules into early access, based on those threads. In fact I would go so far as to say that this has probably never happened and never will happen, at least with regards to Eagle Dynamics. If the Mi24p meets their internal criteria for release, they will release it, otherwise they won't. It's as simple as that.
  21. Not sure why this is such a big deal. Maybe it will be on the Marianas map, but for most maps in the game pretty much everyone knows "exactly" where they are just by looking out the window. This is not true for "newbie" players, and they will get lost initially. Still, if people want to prevent new and inexperienced players from joining their servers, then by all means, give them the option to do so.
  22. Yeah, its a tiny screen. I'm surprised they are actually using them, they are extremely expensive to produce. https://microoled.net/
  23. Yeah, that's a result of the micro OLED displays. Im surprised it's not even thinner. A typical 2k Micro OLED is about 2cm across.
  24. Apart from the beta branch being moved to release (which is par for the course I guess) and the new tryout scheme, this has been another rather underwhelming newsletter. Absolutely no news on new and anticipated modules, and upcoming features and very little about some long-awaited fixes for existing modules. Oh well, see you next week I guess
  25. I have no idea, I don't think it should be a problem. Would be kind of weird if they at least didn't match the current popular headsets in FOV out there.
