  1. Unfortunately from what I've been able to understand of the thread (Google translate) the Devs have not acknowledged that this is a bug. Do you maybe have a direct quote from PilotMi8 or anyone else from ED that have acknowledged that this is a problem? How is it possible with all of their SMEs, who actually flew the chopper, that this bug managed to slip past them? Yesterday I noticed it as well, when I flew a mission with the YAW AP off. (It's much more noticeable with that channel turned off for some reason) I kept getting Pilot induced oscilations, I would trim after setting a heading and the helicopter would move up and down, up and down like it was drunk on Vodka or something It was pretty funny, but then I remembered that in a real helicopter I would probably have puked my guts out. EDIT: I'm going to need to do what I abhor doing. Upload .trk files. The broken way of checking a broken game
  2. When targets are egressing? I assume there is a pretty good reason why engineers installed that switch in the real plane in the first place right?
  3. Can we get a bit of clarification here? Does that mean that Jester will not be able to set the switch automatically, I.E. Jester will not be able to calculate the closure and set the switch accordingly, but that the pilot in front has to tell Jester to set the switch, otherwise it will always be in nose aspect position?
  4. This is a thing??? Why would Jester not be able to tell whether a target is beaming or is coming in hot, and set these switches? I assume that this is not intended behavior?
  5. This is what I don't understand, from what little I can glean of the system. The AP system in the Hind should actually be an updated and better version of the AP system in the Hip, yet while I can make perfectly coordinated turns in the HiP, I am struggling in the Hind, so much so that I think I will probably switch to flying with the YAW channel disabled completely.
  6. Thanks for this. Can you clarify a bit more please? So in the entire turn, you are holding down the trimmer button? Also do you use rudder trim on, in the special options? Sorry if I'm being a pain, but in the Mi8 I could do turns all day and they were smooth and easy and looked great, but the Hind is killing me
  7. MSFFB2 user here, I have Saitek rudder pedals (standard, spring loaded) I have a question for those in the know-how: Currently the way that trimming works for me is (All AP channels including YAW AP ON, rudder trim in special options off) is that when I engage in a turn, and use the trim button my helicopter will try to yaw to the last known heading. In order for me to fly a properly coordinated turn, i have to engage the turn with a slow pedal push, then use the cyclic (trim or no trim, makes no difference) then exit the turn with a coordinated pedal/cyclic movement (I.E push the pedals to neutral) and then trim out on the new heading. At that point I usually have to hit trim reset, because the YAW AP channel will usually not match the heading which I wanted to exit at. This leads to all sort of wonky and dangerous behaviours. So the YAW AP channel is apparently not connected to the cyclic trim and is not communicating with the other AP channels. It however is connected to the trim reset button and this is causing a lot of issues in my case. Does it work this way in the real chopper? I mean shouldn't the YAW AP channel work out the heading from the other channels as well?
  8. +1 Alternatively just add another bind that resets the AP YAW channel (which is basically what happens when you press the trim reset key except it should not affect the cyclic trim)
  9. Thanks for the tips. Will try and be more gentle with the rudder input in gentle turns, and alternatively just bind a key to turn off AP YAW if I'm doing combat maneuvers. Will definitely check out your thread as a rudder "AP reset" option seems like a great workaround that would probably eliminate 90% of our problems in this regard. Not sure if the devs will go for it though, they are usually adverse to adding any aids that aren't present in the real aircraft.
  10. Sometimes I'm very jealous of my American friends. There is no equivalent to Walmart in the EU, and things like cheap VR headsets are almost impossible to find
  11. Yeah I'm gonna go ahead and install that driver, but the Windows Gaming fix? Yeah, that thing is going nowhere near my PC....The day I start trusting Microsoft with these things is the day they find me dead on my floor clutching my Windows 10 USB Rom, with my cold gnarled fingers.
  12. There are tutorial missions?
  13. I have come back to this thread, after messing about with the Hind over the weekend. This is NOT how the AP works, at least not in my case. I will turn it YAW AP off for good, as I cannot fly this chopper with YAW AP ON.
  14. After messing about with the Hind over the weekend I can't get it to behave as described in this video. It's really weird. Are you doing anything when exiting the turn? Are you hitting the trim reset button? Because if I don't do that the YAP AP channel will "sort of work" and most of the time will still fight me in after the turn making me wobble all over the place. Also, do you use the rudder trim? I am now firmly back in the camp of "bug" and not just pilot error, because no way, and I really mean no way can it work like this in the real chopper. Seriously, I can't believe that I have to reset trim after every single turn, which as clogger mentioned is potentially hugely dangerous, and makes for inherently unstable flight at best.
  15. Yep same here. Black picture. Syria, Instant Action mission fire range.
  16. This is coming. Like Jester he will call out threats, but only threats that he can see. Knowing Eagle Dynamics, they will probably want to fix a lot of things before adding to Petrovich, and he needs some voice-lines first. So, some patience is required
  17. You're right. I think it's fine at the current detail levels. Once he get's some voiceovers he might say "Oh shit, a Shilka!" or something along those lines if it's something really recognizable\scary
  18. Thank you so much for this! I've been looking for a good tweak guide, especially after the last Windows update, which installed that stupid Widget!!! Looking forward to trying out some of these tweaks and killing some bloatware on my PC.
  19. Well that's you. A trained Mi24p gunner should recognize threats while looking through the scope at 7-8km, maybe even further out.
  20. I'm MMSFB2 user: When in Mi24p Sim Axis controls\settings, click on any axis of your bound axis (X, or Y it doesnt matter). Just one left click, so it's highlighted, then click FFB Tune. In the next window that opens, check ALL THREE BOXES. I don't remember exactly what they are called, I think Swap Axes, Invert X, Invert Y or something, all three should be ticked. At that point your FFB will work correctly in the Hind.
  21. I've managed to land it once. Without touching the rudder pedals. (nearly vertical descent into ground effect) Which was weird. (YAW AP Channel on) If I start to fiddle with the pedals and the AP channel\damping is on, i botch it completely.
  22. Yup. I've noticed that if I don't trim in turns, the AP will start to do weird things and the chopper will not behave. If however I trim all the time, she becomes quite docile. NOTE: I use a force feedback joystick, no idea if that's how it works with spring centered sticks.
  23. For those who had the same issue I did: 1) Rebind Petrovich AI menu under Mi24p AI controls 2) Rebind Petrovich AI menu under Mi24p SIm controls Rebind these two to the same key, one press will bring it up, another press will disable it 3) Rebind the ALT + W to something, this will activate the ATGM weapons from the back seat. Just bringing up the menu will not task Petrovich to activate your weapons. It's feels like another (un)necessary step, I know, lets hope Eagle Dynamics streamlines this at some point and gives Petrovich a bit more authority. Hopefully this will save someone some frustration.
  24. Well with 2.7.2. and the Hind, my performance has been all over the place. I have not tried ALT + ENTER, but will do so next time i fire up the sim. Also need to think about dropping cloud quality from Ultra and enabling MSAA x2 because the shimmer is just killing me without MSAA.
  25. Someone needs to do a proper tutorial youtube video on "How to fly the Hind". It can't come soon enough, I'm not talking about hover, take-off, Wags already did that. Just level flight, turns, and simple maneuvers. I am reminded of the time the F14 came out, and people didn't realize that you had to roll the aircraft with your pedals past a certain AoA.
