Wheel Stand Pro Super Warthog
Buckeye replied to SlapStik's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I have the small center adapter purchased from WSP. $40 in the US, free if requested at point of order from the EU website. -
I believe I've read that a pilot body is planned, but IIRC no timing was given. Looking forward to having this added though, it adds a great deal of immersion for me in VR.

What settings and pixel density are you running in VR? I may look to give them a shot to see if I can get something similar in FPS, thanks sir
-
You're getting 170-190 FPS in VR? I have essentially the same 1080Ti card OC'ed heavily and a CPU running at 4.7ghz (only 16GB RAM though), and I only get about 25-45FPS with the Hornet flying in the Persian Gulf map...

Response from Thrustmaster re. F/A-18 HOTAS
Buckeye replied to Garyss's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Roughly around $15k for the HOTAS and they don’t sell to people for personal use. Aerotronics is the same. More detailed info straight from the horses mouth below... Their products are geared towards military simulation. Some of the Flight grips and Throttle grips are of such fidelity that they were controlled by International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), now transferred to the Dept. of Commerce as of 2013. As such they are not inexpensive items, and require the end user be identified. Once identified, an export Licence may need to be issued, which costs a minimum of $275, or 2.5% of the shipment total. The components themselves are quite robust. For instance, some of the four / five -way trim switches run between $275-$650, mostly Otto parts used in the real thing. The radar cursor slew switches on the F-15, F-16, F-18, F-22, F-35 throttle cost $2400 alone. Their grips throttles and rudders run between $4500 - $12,000 depending upon the model and quantities. Ejection seats run between $2.5K - $25K. If you are a home builder and want grade B / C or D castings for your home pit project, at least Aerotronics occasionally has imperfect castings that you can populate with your own switches. The castings range between $150 to $750 depending on aircraft and condition. You many need to sand / and paint. So, not really a viable option for many...but seriously top quality. What does VR have to do with having a mil-spec HOTAS that is used by the militaries for their simulators? -
Yes, the resolution sucks. This has been covered ad nauseum pretty much everywhere at this point. It is the primary tradeoff of VR. What hardware are you running? If you want any decent answers you need to tell people what hardware you're running, what your Pixel Density is set to, and what your DCS settings are.

Just need ED to fix all the other missiles and it will be fine

Believe I have said it before, but great work here RK! Really impressive pit you’ve build man. I’ll be using it for inspiration as I embark upon my own build. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I would love to see a C130 to support all types of tasks in MP missions. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Yes there is, with with an accurate user curve on the Thrust axes in DCS and a modded Warthog detent. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Would be nice, I agree. It’s pretty annoying to have to chance it every time you load in to (for example) the Case I Recovery Quick Start Mission. +1 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

It’s a simulator, so yes. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

HUD is tinted too much? Because they couldn’t give a crap less about a bunch of armchair pilots complaining about things they know next to nothing about, for starters. FWIW I think it looks darker than expected too, but I’ve never flown a Hornet to know what’s accurate so I defer to those who have. I also don’t care to complain bc I would rather see resources focused on things that actually matter. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

...they both fly the DCS version.

I posed the complain to 2 Hornet drivers last night and both said “How it is currently modeled looks fine to me.” I think people should relax on the subject and let the devs focus on more important things. If you’re under the impression that the real Hornet drivers have given poor advice/input to the devs based on some odd POV YouYube videos you’ve watched, install the mod and be done with it. Why? That’s not at all how it is in the real jet. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

In real life with WOW you just push through it anyway. If you have a Warthog throttle, buy the custom 3D printed detent. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

VR Cockpit A few updates... The wedding is now behind me and I’ve just returned home from 2 weeks in Thailand for the honeymoon. Free time will be still be very limited as my career is very busy at the moment (plus I’m working on some house renovation stuff and have some other personal travel on the books over the next couple of months), but I plan to do my best to push forward with getting the cockpit build started ASAP. My goal is still to have the left side panel done by the start of Fall to give me some good momentum heading in to the Fall/Winter where I should have a lot more free time (hopefully, at least). I’ve started to do some beginner level learning of Fusion 360. Very beginner level thus far but I’ve decided it will be my 3D modeling program of choice for the build. I plan to design everything first and then shop the work out to a local CNC Miller (for both the wooden frame work as well as the acrylic paneling) for fabrication. My dad has a solid woodshop but I’m concerned it will take me too long to do all the cuts myself, so I’m likely to go the CNC direction. I’ll be updating this thread as work progresses on the 3D model...I expect this to take me a while though, as I have zero experience with 3D modeling (or any modeling that isn’t financial modeling, for that matter haha). Feedback from the experts here will be critical [emoji1303] As a side note, I am working with Roberto from Throttletek to build me a F/A-18C throttle. There are a lot of moving parts with this currently though so I will circle back once I have some concrete info. I have picked up the following switches to outfit the throttle, all Otto Mil-Spec (MS) parts. I have a few more that I need to source...but I am trying to be patient and hunt some deals as they are quite expensive...insanely expensive, actually. The 2-ways are to be used for the speedbrake and the CM dispense, the real slider Otto SL series switches are $350+ each, so I’m planning to use these Otto T1’s instead. I’m not sure what the small Micro button pictured is to be used for as I don’t see a spot for it anywhere on the IRL throttle but it’s the part # Roberto gave me to purchase? That one has me scratching my head a little. These arrived while I was in Thailand, pic below. Lastly, I found a pretty good deal on 4 of these Honeywell MS24658-22G (1TL1-2G) locking On/Off switches. I figure these types will be really nice for certain switch functions in the pit. They arrived today and look and feel great! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Like the VPC or VKB? If yes, then why not just buy one of those?

That’s a major bummer that there is no damping mechanism. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Thrustmaster Reveal - TPR Rudder System Yes, there were fx fees and the package was shipped to the US and weighed over 20 pounds. Whether or not these were pass through rates or marked up, I don’t know. I wasn’t interested in nickel and dime negotiating with Slaw; first off it’s not worth my time, second if I had disagreed with the price...he could easily say “Ok I’ll give your pedals to the next guy in line”. I posted what my actual invoice was for, with line items, to inform the other users in this thread as a baseline. I doubt anyone cares about your opinion on the pricing structure so I’m not sure I understand the point of your post? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
