  1. I thought the same, but the problem with Boat is that you cannot do the long presses for DG and DM, both of wich have a special meaning according to the manual. So better in a Hat. I eventually left Boat as Flap Thumb switch. My Dogfight switch is DMS and Sight Mode and depression switches in TMS. CMS is for chaff/flare config and release. I have noted tho that quickly moving Boat (flap thumb) from UP to AUTO or the other way around, the setting goes to FXD (middle). Will investigate this issue further. Stopping a bit in the middle position it is OK.
  2. Your fuel flow was also in afterburner range, strange...
  3. Maybe because first you said Tblisi and that is what I answered... didn't note that you had changed now to Batumi. Well, I am pretty sure it is the same.
  4. They start at 7,000' MSL yes, which subtracting the airport elevation is 5,376' AAL. And then they go 15.6 miles out before turning inbound to allow for the descent. All of that because of the mountains. So it is 56% more distance to go and 23% less altitude to descend than in your proposal. And the approach to RWY 31 starts at 6000-1624 = 4376' AAL and still goes 12.5 miles out because the surrounding terrain to the SW is lower. Obviously, the higher the mountains surrounding the airport, the higher the IAF is and the longer distance the aircraft has to fly. 3NM per 1000 ft to descend is what is calculated normally for initial descent with engines at idle. But in the approach phase everything is smoother. In the outbound, you are allowing for 10 NM IIRC to descend 3,000 ft and that is pretty tight for the approach phase.
  5. Nice job there bbrz. If you allow me to comment, the heights seem a bit high to me. In this kind of approaches you use to be around 2500 - 3000 ft AGL above the field on the beacon and descend to 2000-2500 ft AGL when you start the outbound leg. Keep that height until you begin the final descent, once established inbound. Even on a fighter, IFR approaches allow plenty of time for the descents unless special cases like surrounding high ground, where they are tweaked for that. After all they are used the same by an F-5 and a C-5. :)
  6. I would love any of these: F-4 Tornado IDS Mirage III E A Su-17 would also be pretty nice
  7. Is there any trick to get locks easier from MSL search mode? Yesterday I was trying to rejoin with my friend and only got a lock after at least 8 tries. Then he started playing with chaff and broke it. Could not get a lock again. It was in NTTR.
  8. I just did the toothpick mod and it works much better now. :) I will replace it with a piece of plastic instead for better feel beyond the detent. Dino Might, it is called Throttle Range, in the Throttle section.
  9. Well, I have a Warthog HOTAS and the AB detent is useless for me. My whole throttle set will move forward or lift upwards before I am able to bypass de detent, it needs to be bolted down to be of any use. And then each time you swap to a non AB aircraft you need an hex key to remove it. The whole design is so bad... I am happy they put this feature, gonna map it and try it right away. :)
Sent from my MI PAD 2 using Tapatalk
  12. I was kidding. It is just that aircraft don't usually fly at maximum finesse in cruise, unless they are really low on fuel for example. It would be very slow. Didn't notice that, but anyway that is the problem of that website (which maybe isn't even in the US) PS: From what I have read, 300 KCAS is min speed for an attack run.
  13. That is maximum finesse AoA (i.e. maximum gliding range/maximum cruise range). You will die before reaching your destination cruising at that speed in the Hog. :smilewink: I use to cruise at 75-77% FAN (N1). That gives my friends plenty of room to catch up. The engines are good as long as their gauges are on green. You can see what the yellow and red mean in the aircraft manual. In order to extend the life of the engines, jets normally use a lower power setting suitable for the task. E.g. an airliner will not take off with maximum thrust when they have pre-calculated performance tables stating that it can safely takeoff with reduced power. Download the aircraft manual here and look in section 5.1 for operating limitations and instrument markings: http://www.docfoc.com/download/documents/t-o-1a-10c-1-flight-manual-usaf-series-a-10c-2012
  14. E.g. here for the A-10C: C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\Mods\aircraft\A-10C\Input\A-10C\joystick Modify your controller's .lua or create one based upon default.lua with the name of your controller. For that check your local configuration in: C:\Users\<username>\Saved Games\DCS\Config\Input\A-10C\joystick For me, the file is called "Thrustmaster Combined {8C8E9840-E97C-11e5-8004-444553540000}.diff.lua", so drop the Windows Id and .diff, and my file is "Thrustmaster Combined.lua" There are commands like this, with press and release: { pressed = iCommandViewUp, up = iCommandViewStop, name = _('View up'), category = _('View Cockpit')}, I guess you could add a new one like this, let's put it in category "View", just below the "-- View" comment in the file: { pressed = iCommandViewCockpit, up = iCommandViewCenter, name = _('My Reset View'), category = _('View')}, That is with the trick that Sokol said of using one command for "press" and another for "release". Not sure if you can assign a list of commands, for that try this instead: {down = {iCommandViewCockpit, iCommandViewCenter}, name = _('My Reset View'), category = _('View')}, If this second method works, there would be no limit of actions per command. Then, go to your stick configuration in DCS game, search for "My Reset View" inside category "View" and assign a joystick button. Of course, if you prefer to have that command also for other controllers, just edit default.lua. Or for keyboard the appropriate .lua too. The problem is that each time you repair or update the mod will be lost, so better install it with JSGME. OTOH, for what you guys want to do I would go with your joystick programming software, they use to allow that and much more complex macros.
  15. They systematically hit a few seconds after countdown expiration. It probably has to do with the general underperformance of all missiles in general.
  16. Wilbur, when your views do that, it means that your trackir has lost your clip. The new driver has less magnification in the movement, so you need to exaggerate it with your head to reach some areas. Then the clip leaves trackir tracking region and DCS views do those weird things. I had only flown the A-10C since the fix and trackir felt a bit sliggish, but had lots of problems with the F-15 tonight, the view got stuck each time I transitioned between fwd and back views in dogfight, because my left/up and right/up diagonals were out of tracking range. Then reverted once more to the old driver and all was fine again, and really notice the difference between the two drivers. So I am sticking with the old driver. It is either that or reconfigure trackir curves to increase the magnitude, which seems stupid to me because they work just fine with my other three flight simulators.
  17. I would recommend you to start with a couple of free and simple campaigns: * Operation Save Badger * Operation Jackal Then, a nice follow on would be "Enemy Within". It is a payware campaign (used to be free, but it is well worth the money). If you are lucky it might go on sale while you are still flying the first two. :) Personally, I hate stock campaigns with all that stupid radio spam "Enfield 1 passing waypoint 99" that will not allow you to communicate. Man, nobody cares at which waypoint you are, and even if someone cared, nobody knows where it is! There is very little to none of that in those three campaigns and their missions are quite diverse not to become monotonous.
  18. Nice, it has been fixed in tonight's update. :)
  19. Thank you all for the options. I will talk with the guys and see what we do.
  20. This is not working for me. There was not even a "default" folder in my local configuration, and doing it for every aircraft is nonsense, therefore I set it up with JSGME.
  21. I can confirm this bug for A-10C, F-15C and UH-1H (all I have tried). Attached default views for previous 1.5.3 stable and latest 1.5.4 openbeta. I don't mind that they break the beta release, that is what it is for, but why on Earth did they push this patch into the stable without testing?
  22. Hey guys, thank's for the suggestions. Currently we are 4 friends flying, the problem is that most of the people still need a few hours so their HOTAS actions become second nature. We already made a couple of traning missions, but the third time you run through them it becomes pretty boring. I have taken them through Operation Save Badger minicampaign and expected to do Operation Jackal too (both seem a good start), but with the fourth guy joining in, we are too many people. That is why I was asking about dedicated servers. Checked the Open Conflict server yesterday and it was pretty crowded, 2-3 free slots at most, sometimes none. :( PS: Striker, thank's for your offer but we are in Spain, 8h off...
  23. Can someone recommend a server to practice A-G with inexperienced friends on the A-10C? Without fearing some fighter coming to shoot us down? :music_whistling: Thank's a lot!
  24. Can't remember which one is engines but I have them pretty low. My settings are like this: Vol: 86% GUI: 100% World: 50% In-Cockpit: 60% HELMET: 60% Music: 0% Hear like in helmet: OFF G-breath effect: ON Radio Speech: ON
  25. Those assumptions are false. Flight director needles (in A-10 or any other aircraft) are not a deviation indicator for ILS nor any other navigation source. Flight director are roll & pitch commands to fly whatever navigation source you have selected. In DCS A-10C, the roll indicator is affected by the course selection in the HSI. While this might be a bug, it will not impede you from flying an ILS, because you don't even need a flight director for that. The ILS indicators (these are the ones that measure deviation in degrees) are the CDI in the HSI for lateral deviation and the little white scale at the left part of the ADI for glideslope deviation. As I said this is not affected by the selected course. A flight director is meant to help you navigate. If it does the opposite thing, just ignore it or better yet stow its needles with the switch below the HSI. Follow the CDI and the glideslope indicator and you will be flying the ILS as every pilot learns to do it. Once you feel confident with the ILS, activate the flight director and learn how it works and what is telling you.
