Way too many differences to be a simple upgrade. Would essentially be a whole new module with new cockpit, FM and coding. Hell, I'm just waiting for the MIG-21 we have now to be fixed.
-
It's the same in 2.5 Caucuses. There's a few youtube videos which show trains going through each other.
-
It's definitely improved over the dogfight video.
-
Thanks for the video! Personally, I prefer these informal game-play update videos over the highly produced marketing ones. Please keep em' coming!

Keep in mind, the MIG-21 is not an air superiority fighter. It's designed to be guided to the target area via GCI and the radar used in the terminal phase of the intercept to find the target (especially at night/bad weather). It will always be hard to find targets with that radar by simple random search.

Performance data for a lot of the Soviet-era aircraft are freely available (see German MIG-29's, Polish SU-17's, etc). It's getting the permission from the Russian's to make these modules that is the problem. It wouldn't be an issue of ED was based in the West, but ED is based in Russia, so they have to play by Russian rules.

Retrieving module keys from crashed computer
Tread_Head57 replied to Tread_Head57's topic in General Bugs
Got my keys. Thanks so much Blaze! -
Not sure if this is the right forum, but here is my issue. My 1yr old spilled my wife's soda onto my laptop (I was at work) and now my laptop will not boot up. My keys for the A10, FC3, and MIG-21 were on that computer. I've long since deleted the original emails they came in. How do I go about retrieving those keys? I'm going to be buying a new computer soon (needed an upgrade anyway) but without the keys, I can't re-install those modules. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

There's a lot more important "updating" that needs to be done to the MIG-21
-
I thought I remeber Wags saying somewhere that the new carriers will come out sometime after the Hornet's early access release. Whether that's 6 months or a year after wasn't specified. I'd be surprised if we don't see at least an early access carrier release sometime in the late fall/early winter.
-
They've said the current LHA is WIP and not fully functional. Per their facebook their working on a high-res version for those that purchased the Harrier. I imagine they'll update the "free" low-Res version over time.
-
Been mentioned numerous times since 2.5 release. Nothing said either way from ED. Hopefully, once 2.5 better optimized, they'll bring back the added towns and increase the road network between them.

Can we just get the damn plane fixed/debugged before we worry about adding new weapons?

Need advice on new laptop for DCS 2.5
Tread_Head57 replied to Tread_Head57's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Ok, thanks for the advice. The Alienware processor is advertised as "overclock up to 4.4 GHz". Since you've owned their computers before, does this mean they overclock it to that spec before shipping or is that for me to do once receiving the computer? -
Need advice on new laptop for DCS 2.5
Tread_Head57 replied to Tread_Head57's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Yes, USD. It's currently "on sale" (there's always some sort of promotion) and there's a $300 rebate bringing it down to that price. Can anyone say with any confidence that the computer specs listed above will be able to run DCS at max settings without any issue? -
I'm going to buy a new laptop for DCS 2.5. Old one is 4yrs old and not up to the task. Budget is around $2500. I've done some comparisons and am trying to decide between these two: ALIENWARE 17 Processor: Intel i7-7820HK (Quad Core), 8MB Cache, Overclock up to 4.4 GHz Graphics: GTX 1080 with 8GB GDDR5 Memory: 32GB DDR4 @ 2400 MHz Dual Drives: 512GB SSD and 1TB SATA (storage) Screen: 17.3 inch (2560x1440) 60Hz HP Omen X 17T Processor: Same except only up to 3.9 GHz Graphics: Same Memory: Same Dual Drives: Same Screen: 17.3 inch (1920x1080) 120Hz The HP is around $300 cheaper. Any suggestions on what I should prioritize? Goal is to run 2.5 at max settings w/out issues. I dont use VR. Thanks.

Su-15 or MIG-23 would work too. However, we all know that the aircraft following the F14 is already in development (whatever it is). I just hope it is an Eastern aircraft due to the disparity between Eastern-Western in DCS.
-
DCS desperately needs an 80's time-frame full fidelity Soviety fighter.
-
LOL! I pretty much did that myself reading that response. :D
-
As the most modern full-fidelity Soviet aircraft in DCS (and this seems to be true for the foreseeable future) I would have hoped more attention would have been paid to this module. I got it, Leatherneck split and this interupted work schedules. However, if M3 chose to keep this module in its portfolio, then it assumed responsibility for its maintenance. I hope M3 gets their act together and pushes out quality fixes for the MIG-21 soon. The grace period from the split is over.

RIP Gospadin. 43yrs old was way too young. :(
-
This is what I'm tracking as well. Remember, Normandy is a 3rd party map, so it's not on ED to update/improve it. I'm not expecting too much in the way of future add-ons to the map.

F-14 A & B - 1 module or 2 separate/bundled?
Tread_Head57 replied to Horns's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
Considering the tin foil hat crowd is also the type that keeps pitchforks handy, I'd at least send out a dev update (with new pics) on FEB 19th just to keep them quiet. :smilewink: -
