  1. The lead function works a bit like the P-51 Mustang or the MiG-21 gyro gunsight, so you need to be very smooth with it. I'm not able to video it right now, but I found this Steel Beasts vid that demonstrates it:
  2. To quote myself... It's an oddly named keybinding, but it sure does make shooting moving targets that much more interesting and easier.
  3. Looks like the Mirage 2000's hud. Which is unsurprising, since the Russsian military has bought quite a bit of French equipment. The Thales Damocles TGP and the thermal camera used by the T-72B3 come to mind.
  4. I never knew the A-7 had this capability... Whoa!
  5. That's Russian flight control philosophy. The ideea was that a Western-style FBW law would confuse a pilot as to what his speed is, so the nose up/down behaviour was artificially modelled to give the pilot a sense of his speed. I would guess this would be less of an issue for us if FFB joysticks were mainstream, so that we could feel what the plane was doing...
  6. There's a limitation as to how much information you can reliably send and use for multiplayer. If you were to send all details to and from a server you'd set the internet cable on fire (just kidding about that, but the principle still stands). There is a hard limit for animations in the DCS Multiplayer environment.
  7. This might be a bit obvious, but... Do you have the first detent mapped?
  8. You have to slew the cursor towards a target (don't manually lock it!) and it will start tracking it once in range. The second target will be selected automatically. EDIT: And you have to be in SNP2 mode, as draconus pointed out
  9. The FLCS won't protect against G, only against AOA
  10. I guess it's some of those clickbait channels. That's some sweet A-10 footage, though.
  11. Laser guided weapons, surprisingly, act like pets. They will follow the dot until impact.
  12. Glad I could help!
  13. Hi! From what I can see in your video, you haven't boresighted the missile (i.e. you haven't adjusted the Maverick to look in the same direction as the TGP). Also, you maneovered a little too hard and the missile's sensor couldn't keep up and lost the target. Here's a nice tutorial for using the Maverick, from boresighting to handoff to actually shooting the thing. It has all the little details that one could miss otherwise:
  14. I guess you can't hang LGBs off of it because the targeting system doesn't depress far enough. It always trips and resets right before impact, when you're using iron bombs or the KAB-500Kr. I find it pretty accurate when using iron bombs, though. But not when using the BetAB-500ShP. That thing is, let's say, less than ideal.

    Free Camera View

I think it's F2 view efects set to "Floating" and a little bit of trackir & mouse combination to get the movement that way.
  16. I remember Mover saying that he flew the 50/52 too, albeit for a very short time
  17. Happy birthday!
  18. This might be a bit exotic
  19. They usually follow the lead. Turn off your lights and they should turn off their own.
  20. Well, that's about the maximum range of the F-16C's radar
  21. Don't know about the Maverick, but as far as I recall, the Paveway II laser code is set with a screwdriver
  22. You can cycle between the pages using [ and ].
  23. It's been a while since I took a look at the F-18, but didn't the SA page only display datalink information and waypoints when selected on one of the DDIs?
  24. Industrial and military stuff are prime examples of "If it ain't broke, don't fix it". I mean, they could have replaced the two DDIs with color LCDs, too, but why would they? The only advantage I could think of is being able to move the map to one of them, or adding some color symbology. Maybe clearing a little space behind the screens. None of those feel worth the engineering to actually fit the new screens there.
