I made the AI have a full path including a retreat path. The BMP went to its disembark position and stopped. Had the troops been successful it simply would have remained there. Since half died, they hopped back in and it simply continued on its path. I am not brave enough yet to get into MIST. I need some time to really sit down and learn the nuts and bolts of it. So for my needs making the AI vehicle stop then pushing it to the next waypoint after the remaining troops "disappear" inside, worked for me.

I think the number one comment I saw yesterday from almost everyone I know is "I teared up at the end". I was handing out virtual kleenexes left and right! While I am skeptical, my skepticism was somewhat abated when I heard about JJ Abrams comments at the Celebration convention going on right now in Anaheim. He is very much aware the incredible weight on his shoulders, and he had actually turned it down initally thinking it would be too much pressure for him. If he has humbled himself by the undertaking he is doing, that gets my vote of confidence. He knows full well the backlash if he messes this one up. This will be the first one I am taking my kids to as adults!!! (I guess that means i need grandkids now)

Just in... Brand new Star Wars Episode VII teaser trailer... You know, for those of you into that sort of thing. :smilewink: enjoy! I don't know about you all, but for the first in a LONG time, I think I might actually be looking forward to this one.

Shiny!! I approve of the new look, it is quite slick.

As green as it gets: noob questions
Belgeode replied to HerrFledermaus's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
My solution for that was to map the rudder to my X rotation knob, since it has a detent in the center of travel. Works fine for me, plus I can use my thumb on it without twisting my wrist. VERY good for someone who had carpal tunnel in the past. Oh and yes to facetracknoir. I use it and it performs quite well for me. Make sure you set up some curves in your profile. There should be links on the net to help with that, or I can guide you to the link I used. -
Grimes is on point there. Thy commandments are very succinct and straightforward. Well executed Sabre!

LMAO at the "Hornet channel"... "I hate that channel."

Mi-8 bobs up and down while flying
Belgeode replied to Ramstein's topic in DCS: Mi-8MTV2 Magnificent Eight
I am an odd person. When I fly the Mi-8 I keep the roll/ pitch OFF, actually. No bobs, no problem. Of course I know that is now how you SHOULD fly it, but it feels much more natural TO ME, so I just leave the suckers off and hand fly the helo. So far, no crashy, so I must be doing something right. I use the trim when needed (straight line flight), but otherwise, just me and the stick. -
Video Tutorial: Sling loading
Belgeode replied to Socket7's topic in DCS: Mi-8MTV2 Magnificent Eight
Great video Socket7!! Nicely done as always. -
I agree wholeheartedly. While they are at it, maybe they can update the F-14 Tomcat model too... and give us a template so we can do our reskinning goodness. I really hope the F-5 is going to be flyable in DCS 2.0. That would make sense with NTTR on the way for some "training".

I was wondering about that myself. We were musing about it on my facebook page.

That sounds interesting. Question... Does the trigger bomb in zone fire when a bomb is RELEASED, or when the bomb hits the ground? I used bomb in zone before but it triggered on release to give me the desired action.

What munitions to use against targets
Belgeode replied to thdman1511's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
There is a mission in single player folder for the Su-25T that says "Command Post Strike". In that mission the default loadout they give you to attack the command post is the KAB-500kr. -
Force an AI to bomb a runway without fleeing?
Belgeode replied to Bourrinopathe's topic in Mission Editor
Now THAT looks pretty epic!! -
From what I have seen creating aircraft, the default number for the first Russian Air unit placed is 100, and then it goes up from there. There is no real special treatment given to the type of aircraft it is, so as long as you placed the A-50 first, by default it would get callsign 100. Pretty much once a number is taken it goes with the next in numerical order from 100.

Funny video there. Your wife is a solid pilot there, you just got in her way. LOL Lesson learned.
-
AFAIK They don't use names... Only numbers (example 150).

Force an AI to bomb a runway without fleeing?
Belgeode replied to Bourrinopathe's topic in Mission Editor
How many attack runs do you have the B-1B set to? Should be one run, then the option for ALL is available. As stated above, set Reaction to threat to either NO REACTION or at the most, PASSIVE DEFENSE. I hope your timing is perfect on that takeoff. I would love to see video of the finished product. -
That would make me happy too. BOTH the Tomcat and the Su-33 are favorites of mine from their respective countries.
-
Really all of the above could apply to me, but I chose making videos because let's face it... In life, if you are going to have interesting experiences, why not share them with others of like mind?
-
Exactly what SithSpawn said... and further to that: At SP waypoint set their advanced waypoint actions to ROE WEAPONS HOLD, and in the triggered actions section put the command for ROE OPEN FIRE. You can then trigger the open fire command for either a zone around WP 4 (set to go off after a certain time being in the zone, or upon them entering the zone), or a radio command issued by the player. That should work for you.

F-14 design evolution history (must watch!)
Belgeode replied to Hummingbird's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
Another F-14 documentary?!?!?!? (scampers to seat, grabs popcorn, and watches.... INTENTLY!) Thanks for posting this! -
This is welcome news! I love the Mi-8 most of all the helos available in DCS. A little dev love will do it wonders. Still the single best campaign I have played to date.
