Sweet sweet music of those Double Wasps! Call me a geek, but I hope we have to baby that engine on start-up! Small adjustments here and there while she clears the oil out of those lower cylinders... Then roars to life!:pilotfly: [ame] [/ame]
-
Possibly, but what the troops and pilots prefer doesn't always jive with the higher ups! lol
-
I'm hoping that we are just waiting on the next DCS 2.0 patch to become avaible for the next set of releases. Here's hoping for a pre-christmas release!:bounce::bounce::bounce::bounce:

Lol possibly, some threads do move very quickly. It's hard to keep up with the comments sometimes. Especially if you type slowly like myself! [emoji23] By the way mattebubben I wanted to thank you and everyone else for the great translations and help understanding the aircraft! It really brought the Viggen into another light for many folks I'm sure!
-
I wasn't saying anything to the contrary about there being a Viggen. I want the aircraft ASAP! I was just asking to keep the, well I want this aircraft, in the appropriate thread.[emoji106]

[emoji33] [emoji33] [emoji33] Blasphemy!!![emoji6] If you have flown the Mig-21 you would know that Leatherneck doesn't make a non-serious attempt when it comes aircraft simulation. I sure it will not disappoint us in the slightest! Also this isn't a wishlist thread please move those to the DCS Wishlist thread. [emoji106]

Hey, I'm sure these have been buried in the forums some where. I thought I would put up a fresh link to Avialogs Website. The F4* Corsairs flight and maintenance manuals in particular. Avialogs seems to have most Marks of the Corsair for your reading pleasure in PDF format. http://www.avialogs.com/index.php/en/aircraft/usa/vought/f4ucorsair.html This is the FOI for the most common Marks of the F4U-1 I believe!:book: http://www.avialogs.com/viewer/avialogs-documentviewer.php?id=4333

F-14A/B DEVELOPMENT UPDATE #1 – 21/03/2015
Cool Breeze replied to Cobra847's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
None yet unfortunately. I'm sure they have their hands full with the Mig. I'm hopeful that once 1.5 makes it out of beta. 2.0 comes up to beta, and receives compatibility with the Georgia map. They'll be able to get an announcement ready. -
Skate how far of do you think the Bug is from releasing? And would they wait to release it with the Hormuz map. The other question I would posse would be, would ED allow another company to use their ground radar code for their own aircraft. Or would each developers have to produce their own. If ED is willing to share or more likely licence the coding that could speed up development significantly in the short run.
-
It's been pointed out a large part of the DCS\ED customer base doesn't participate in the forums. We are just the vocal, sometimes very overbearing minority from what I understand. Maybe adding more FC2 level aircraft, with later updates to the high end clickable cockpits and complex flight models as payed for upgrades could be just the ticket to continue getting new folks into the sim. Much to expand on of course, but just my bit of change for the moment.
-
Yowzas! I'm going to need a bigger SSD. Maybe terabyte range? Maybe one day as more maps arrive ED can "stitch" them all together! This would be amazing to fly through as the maps continue to grow larger!
-
I must have missed something. The Kh-66 GROM is an air to surface missile isn't it? I guess it's beam riding, so you could use it for air to air on larger target.
-
Great news BSS_Vidar! Looking forward to learning from a veteran of Corsair carrier ops! [emoji2] It's going to be a very crowded marshalling area![emoji6]

Wow, an actual island hopping campaign through the Pacific would be possible if the maps are able to be integrated properly! Marine Corps landing plan First flag raising Mt. Suribachi Second flag raising Mt. Suribachi The raising of that flag on Suribachi means a Marine Corps for the next 500 years.- Secretary of the Navy James Forestall

Thanks for this Silver_Dragon, I was just contemplating starting this!

DCS: Me 262 Discussion (Development on hold currently)

Holy cow! Primitive ramjets! Cool[emoji33] I bet the handling would have went way down though, if could even fly. -

Think we could for a pair of J47s under the wings? I do like IronJockels idea of the J85 though![emoji23] -
Your on point, but I think we already have period units in the 109K-4 and the 190D-9. We just need a paint swap to Royal Navy and Free French forces. They'll be out of place in Georgia and Nevada[emoji23] until another European , or fingers crossed, a north sea map become accessible. The Corsair will not be lacking good opponents. I don't think we will have to worry with the Iwo Jima about theater specific opponents.[emoji6] I have very high hopes!

Ya the early Corsair was such a handful for inexperience pilots she was given some pretty bad nicknames, like the ensign eliminator and the widow maker! It had very bad stall tendencies, at low speeds the right wing would drop with little to no warning. In attempting to to prevent losing the aircraft, if pilots put too much power in too fast she would flip over on her left wing. All too often fatal to an inexperience pilot. Couple with very bad visibility over the nose the Corsair wasn't for the faint of heart in the landing pattern. Much of the problems where worked out as operations and procedures matured. In the air though it was fast, tough, and packed a hell of a punch in the air to air role, as well as the air to ground role! I get tingly just thinking about flying her![emoji6]
-
No no no... A late war F4U-1. Many of the early PTO Corsairs given to the USMC didn't have tailhooks or folding wings. Because the US Navy didn't deem the safe for carrier operations. Once the Royal Navy worked out a safer landing pattern. That allows the pilot a better view over that long nose. The US Navy brought the Corsair back to the carriers in the PTO.
-
While the British are in my opinion deserve the most credit for getting the Corsair operating from carriers. Probably the most famous users were the United States Marine Corps. Hence the PTO, Iwo Jima gives us a nearly end of the war Corsair. Which is excellent from a performance stand point. We could have gotten a much earlier less capable version that wouldn't have carrier capable, not without some difficulties anyway, and it still mildly fits into the ETO scenarios.

 Yes, we do dearly love to hotly dispute obscure minutia! Often to our own detriment. Many moons will pass before we will see her, but she'll be a welcome sight when she arrives. It will be very interesting to pit the Swallow against the Meteor and Vampire. I always hear about how sensitive the turbines are. Only having TBO time measured in the low tens of hours. Does anyone know how they would handle in DCS? Obviously, another question would be which turbines will be fitted? BMW 003 or Jumo 004 [ame] [/ame]
